Owner Kevin Bloxam called me a day before the job was to start as I had requested. The old asphalt was taken up the next day and crushed stone was brought in. The stone was packed down when I came home from work. The asphalt was to be laid the next day. However, overnight, we had over an inch of rain. Kevin called me at 6:30 a.m. and suggested we put off the asphalt a day as more rain was predicted. The following day, Breck's Paving crew showed up at 7:30 a.m. to roll the driveway again and lay the asphalt. We are still letting the asphalt cure and haven't driven on it yet. I had requested several estimates from Angie's List contractors in late summer of 2007 and only one contract would meet with me and then only gave me a card with a price of over $6000.00. The 3 other Angie's List contractors would not meet with me but would only go out at THEIR convenience and called me with an estimate. They each told me they couldn't do the job until spring of 2008 and the price given me now might change due to the higher cost of asphalt. I was given the name of John Gaines at Reliable Asphalt by a friend. I called John who met with me in Feb. 2008. He measured the drive and listen to my concerns. He was punctual and professional. Mark Bruck gave my neighbor an estimate on her driveway and she asked for one for my driveway, knowing that I patched it yearly to keep it going. The estimate he gave was too good to pass up and I agreed to let him pave mine along with my neighbor's. So he worked on both our driveways -- unfortunately for her, he found a leaking downspout tile which was directing water under her driveway and adding to the driveway deterioration. Fortunately for me, it allowed them to pave my driveway a day sooner. Even with the rain and storms all week, my driveway was finished on time. We had to work around the rain a few times but Nicole was proactive and worked with me to find the next available day that fit my schedule. The crew was prompt and had the old driveway out, widened each side, regraded and added to the base, and the new asphalt down and rolled in just a few hours. The cleanup after the work was an A+!
