The work performed was great. Tim is a professional.
Description of Work: I had two large objects mounted on the wall in my dining room. Tim came over and we agreed on a price for the work to be done. On the work day he came with all the tools he needed and did a great job. If I need a handyman in the future I will call Tim.

Tim is just a really decent, straighforward and professional guy. It was a very pleasant experience to have him work on our home and to find a contractor that is respectful and honest. He's not the cheapest guy out there but I think our experience is a lesson in "you get what you pay for". He gave his informed and useful opinion on the stains that we considered using and was willing to research new materials without the attitude that many other experienced contractors seem to have. As women clients, we especially appreciated this professionalism and even disposition. His work was careful and thorough. He did not rush through the job but took the time to ensure it was done well. He cleaned up after himself and was careful not to spatter stain on our walkway and other landscaping, which is very important to us. This job was done over several weeks, both to accomodate our work schedule and to accomodate several personal and conflicting job schedules that occurred for Tim. We did not mind being flexible at all, but others who need a job done in a hurry should discuss scheduling requirements up front. Tim will get the work done. The work on the shed turned out to be more time-consuming than Tim thougt it was going to be and we adjusted the payment agreement. We did not feel that this was improper because we've painted that shed before and it does require a ton of detail work. It was also very dry and required an additional coat. We would recommend Tim for painting and staining based our our experience of him and his work.
Description of Work: First, let me say that this review is long overdue. In summer 2011, after researching and interviewing a number of painters, we contracted with Tim to power wash and stain our porch and our 12X20' tool shed. Tim consulted with us on the type of stain to purchase, as we purchase the materials for these types of jobs ourselves rather than have the contractor do so. We also worked with the paint store to ensure that the stain and paint colors matched. Tim then powerwashed both the porch and the large tool shed and stained both of them, using the two colors that we'd chosen. He applied 2 coats of stain to both area and then another coat to the very dry sides of the shed. . He also painted the metal flashings and gutters to match the trim color on the structure.

He called me back and let me know that he is not a licensed electrician but has been in the handyman business for over 30 years. I appreciated his honesty in letting me know this. He volunteered to me that he would be happy to give me an estimate for other areas of work in the future. He is pleasant to talk to and answered my questions.
Description of Work: I did finally get a call back yesterday. I do understand that handymen are in demand in regards to repairs right now with recent flooding in the area and because of a death in the family it took him a couple of days to get back to me.

Response from Tim Lewis Construction LLC
I apologize to the member for his unsatisfactory experience with me. I did explain that I'm am booked well into September. Replacing some rotted hinges was not a high priority job for me to skip other commitments I have already made.

Tim Lewis expeditiously came to my house to give me a free estimate of the repairs. (Others I called from Angie's List either called me back after several days or couldn't give me an estimate for days later.) Tim quoted me a price that I considered very reasonable so I made an appointment with him to do the repairs. Tim arrived the first day on time and immediately started to work. He put down tarp over the carpet and brought in his tools. (Mind you, some contractors in the past have asked to use my tools!) He relocated and rewired a ceiling fan, patched the holes in the ceiling with sheet rock, then replaced the ceiling tiles in the basement (damaged by a water leak). Tim had to return several times to re-plaster the new drywall. UPDATE: After the work was done, I had someone come and paint the living room. The painter actually told me that he would not paint over Tim's plaster job because it was shoddy and lumpy. It should have been sanded down, which, at the time of the repair, Tim told me would not be necessary. I was very disappointed because I liked Tim's demeanor and professionalism but this is unacceptable. I called Tim to tell him what the painter said, but he never got back to me. I had to hire another contractor from Angie's List to re-do the job. The painter came back afterward and raved about the new patch job. I cannot give Tim a recommendation on Angie's List because of the mediocre work he performed. I feel taken advantage. We consumers look to Angie's List because we can't or don't want to do home repairs ourselves. It is horrible to pay good, hard earned money to a contractor only to have to pay another contractor to fix a poorly completed job.
Description of Work: Fix and patch hole in ceiling; re-locate and re-wire ceiling fan; replace ceiling tiles in basement drop-down ceiling. (Please note that I intentionally did not list the amount I spent for the repair, but know that the price was very reasonable.)

Tim Lewis came by the house to take a look at the work I needed him to work on. I wanted a door replaced and some work done on my kitchen for starters. He took notes in order to give us an estimate. After that we never heard back from him. He never led me to believe he didn't want the job. I would not recommend him to anyone because I believe that honesty is important. DW

Tim Lewis is an extremely quality-oriented craftsman. Very "persnickity." Tim Lewis keeps his work area neat and organized and, at the end of the day does a good clean-up so as to make living with the remodeling in progress as minimally invasive as possible. I would give Tim Lewis repeat business without hesitation.
Description of Work: Tim Lewis installed hardwood and laminate floors, made structural changes to our house to accomodate a fireplace, installed new windows and doors, converted a 12.5 x 28 porch into a new usable room, installed new lighting fixuures, ceiling fans, installed beadboard (wainscoat) ceilings, installed Omega cabinets, installed exterior siding, removed old roofing and installed new roofing. Tim Lewis, in the performance of the above-listed home improvement items, discovered and corrected some errors made in the initial construction of our house. Tim Lewis came up with design ideas, especially in the conversion of the porch into an additional room.

Mr. Lewis' professionalism was excellent from start to finish. He personally inspected the problem and prepared the job estimate. Mr Lewis was punctual, reasonable, neat and clean, and his work reflected an excellent effort and pride in his craft.
Description of Work: The plumbing vent pipe going through the roof was leaking into the attic ceiling. The old boot had been improperly sealed. In addition, the pipe run into the attic was not properly pitched. A new boot was installed with the proper roof sealant, and the attic pipe run rehung to allow proper drainage.

Every job Tim did was exactly as described beforehand. Estimates were fair and quality of work was top notch. I have used Tim Lewis a least a dozen times in the last 9 years. Tim comes to work at the time agreed upon and ready to work. His incredible attention to the smallest details can't be stressed enough. Hiring Tim you know you will get the job done right the first time. The only time Tim has to come back is to start a new job. He is the cleanest contractor I have ever hired. He took the time to make sure all of surrounding areas are protected from anything that could go wrong. While fixing some of the jobs, Tim uncovered other problems that would be just as easy to look over. He brought it to my attention and explain the importance of fixing it. I would hire Tim again in a heart beat and my wife has a punch list of things for him to tackle.
Description of Work: Over the last 9 yrs Tim Lewis has worked on 2 of my homes. At the mobile home, he repaired the roof, built a shed, fixed and put in engineered flooring, installed new hot water heater, built and installed custom counter tops, upgraded outlet receptacles, replaced broken PEX lines, installation of light fixtures, and vinyl flooring. In my current residence Tim has built a shed, installed light fixtures, installed new circuit breakers, run new electric outlets for washer dryer hook up ( 110volts and 220 volts), vinyl flooring, double hung windows with custom modeling, staircase replacement with new railing and drywall and taping.

Some interruptions due to extensive rainy spells in '09, plus certain complexities of the house extended work-time for a couple weeks, but the quality and execution of the work was superb, with a consistently well-ordered and clean job-site. Tim Lewis and his assistant are impeccably honest and thoroughly skilled in multiple areas of building (structural and finish carpentry, painting, roofing, and general maintenance). We have known and engaged his services at least a dozen times over the past twenty years, and always felt thorough trust in his work and character. His pricing, though not inexpensive, is uniformly fair, but what brings us back to him again and again is the spatial intelligence of his work, and his consistently agreeable disposition. His scope of work has ranged broadly from building us a sizable home addition to fine crafting of furniture.
Description of Work: Demoed, underlaid, copper-flashed, and re-shingled an approximate 1000 sq. ft. roof with EnviroShake 20 year guaranteed roofing.
