HOME DEPOT INC

We were promised a two-day install at the time of purchase by "a contractor affiliated with Home Depot" but wouldn't give names. Promised that whoever shows up to install carpet is background checked for our safety. We found out soon enough that Home Depot hires subcontractor (HOM Solutions) out of CO, who hen subcontracts work in our area. If we would have known, we would have walked away. Our ONE DAY appointment for installation was scheduled 2 months after purchase - we were point blank told that Home Depot will not determine how they will schedule installation. We wait and wait the day of installation and finally WE called to find out where the installers were - they cancel. Their reason: they didn't have or carpet padding and tried to sell us the lesser quality-we declined. They stated that we'd have to wait another month for installation if we wanted the padding we paid for - not acceptable so we went to Home Depot to dispute and they get us another installation date on the following Monday. 2 installers show up in an unmarked, black Chevy short-box truck with CO plates (we are in WY), ratty street clothes without company logo, one speaks no English at all, no business card upon request, he said he'd "write his phone number down for us". They had the lesser quality padding for installation - which we refused as we had paid for the high quality. They leave, get our carpet & padding and return - passenger side window rolled down so he could hold on to the long, metal carpet strips that were running from the box of his pickup to the front wheel. My husband had to take the strips out of his arm so he could open the door. They start the install at around noon, leave at around 3:30pm because they supposedly had a freight truck to sign for and unload. We get concerned as installers were not back and call the phone number he wrote down for us around 5:00pm - voicemail box has not been set up. They finally show up around 5:40pm and go back to work. They installed until 11:00pm and had to leave the last 2 rooms because they were mis-measured an we are short carpet. The next day I go in the house and to my horror all the walls are scuffed and the paint is chipped/scraped off - not just one area, every single wall. The rounded 90 degree corner around the linoleum at our front door is completely crooked and lop-sided. We complain and Home Depot store manager has a major attitude with us and says it will be at least another 2 weeks before we can even think about getting someone back because the installers are 60 jobs behind. My husband is talking with other carpet installers to finish the job as we are living in a 5th wheel and are on a time crunch to get back in the house - we just see no other way to move back in before snow!

I would recommend anybody to use Home Depot especially our Home Depot we have here. The people are courteous, kind, willing to work with you. If something is not right, they fix it. They are just good to work with. Customer service is the one thing, excellent customer service.
