Description of Work: Owner requested deposit before work started or materials were ordered. Because of the time of the season (snow) and the decision to sell the property we canceled the order. There was no writhen agreement all verbal and no penalty clause stated in the discussions. Mr. Schmalz, because of his rising wife's medical bills he decided to keep part of our deposit . I consider this man to be very unscrupulous for a cowboy and wouldn't trust him behind me at any time. A handshake with this cowboy would cause me to count my fingers.

+ -1 moreDid this all by phone and email, had assurances of quality, delivery, and satisfaction. Lots of pictures of previous installation of big name customers and large jobs than mine. Tried to get me interested in his side business of guided hunts and fishing plus he's runs mule business. Claims to have raised and sold mules for big county music stars. All in all could never get a firm date on my gate and archway delivery. Then he got suddenly ill and didn't hear from him for a while. Then heard his wife and he went to Vegas as guests of big hotel name owner for PBR rodeo. In the end, I got part of my money back but not explanation why not all of it since there was no penalty clause for canceling or logs that were cut. With this character it's get a written contract with minimum deposit with firm delivery date.
Description of Work: Contacted Don Schmalz to provide ranch gate and archway for ranch in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
