Firstly, Buying the "come on" $99 for $189 is a trap. Once they get to your house they have no service for $189. nothing. Cutting a hole in drywall and putting a plug in with no added wire (the other side of the wall was open and I had pulled the wires from the 2x4 and they hung where the new plug was to be located) was $239. Anyway, the work was done very well. Holes cut exactly and cleanly, wiring tight, even wrapped the outside of the plug boxes with tape to make the boxes extra-tidy. I will say professional and knowledgeable....no doubt. Now here is the rub!!!!! VERY expensive and know that they have you if you buy the coupon. All prices from a schedule, even if the wall is open and wires are hanging where they need to put them. Was quite unpleasant to have the electrician be-rate his helper and then look at me and say "I take this apprentice training very seriously". The apprentice seemed to be a good guy and was doing very good work. It was a show of power and really inappropriate. Again I will say that the leader was very knowledgable. He read the specs and informed me that I did not need a 40amp new breaker and 12-14 feet of #8 wiring that he quoted me $995 to install just minutes before (and that he would have to cut my walls and ceiling open but did not replace, tape or float the damaged drywall) but didn't notice that the 220volt plug needed to be under the oven (which was on the next page of the spec) and placed it behind the oven. The next day, which is why I couldn't get a second bid, when the cabinet guys came we realized that the oven didn't have room to plug in. A rushed to Home Depot to get the items necessary to move the plug (again) myself I call Good Electric. After a bit of confusion, much of it most likely caused by the stress, the service manager said that they would come and fix the issue the next day. They did! Same apprentice and different electrician. Apprentice nice as ever, electrician maybe not quite as knowledgeable but much more humble and personable. Work was acceptable, but price was outrageous, and with all the pompous that the first electrician used in our house the fact that he placed the 220 plug in the wrong place was comical. He trained me with a long and scolding lesson on how to turn a breaker back on at the breaker panel, even knowing that I have been in the power industry for 25 years and trained folks on operating much higher voltage equipment. All in all, if you have enough money and don't mind being talked down to or watching others berated these guys do good work and come back to fix what they mess up. As for me, I try another company. I do want to thank the Service Manager for sending folks out to make it right. Anyone can do a job right but good people do the right thing when something goes wrong and they did do that.

Good Electric delivered the service as described and was crystal clear about costs upfront. The electrician -- Terry -- was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. He thoroughly answered any questions I asked, took time to understand what my issues were, explained what the costs would be, and tucked into the actual work as soon as I gave the go-ahead. He had the right attitude and was very safety-conscious. Basically, I had attempted two electrical repairs that I thought I could tackle, but once I got into them I realized they were more complicated that I had initially thought. In one case, I replaced a light switch in the garage, but once I was done we quickly found out that turning on the garage light now made the lights in the bathroom go out. Duh... wrong wire to a wrong contact, but which? Good Electric's electrician ironed that out in about two minutes. My second project-gone-haywire was the replacement of a ceiling fan that had been controlled by two wall switches (one for the light; one for the fan). The new fan I put in had a remote control and was incompatible with two-switch operation. Again, Terry made a swift and accurate diagnosis, fixing the problem with a bit of work at both the wall switch and in the fan's wiring at the ceiling. I thought this was a very professional experience and I would definitely use Good Electric again.
Description of Work: Propery wired a ceiling fan and corrected an incorrectly wired light switch.
