 + 1 moreNot well, Dan and his young crew would cut corners on everything they touched. The whole project lasted over 5 months and for a job this size; that was unacceptable. For some odd reason he was able to choose the kitchen cabinets that I am stuck with; he chose the cheapest unit available at Home Depot! I frequently cut and nick my hands on the sharp corners of these lazy Susan cabinets! The car siding on my kitchen and porch walls occasionally had nails sticking out which would be detrimental to somebody's hand if they were to run their hand on the smoothness of the wood. Luckily, I own a hammer and punch and I was able to put the nails back in their place! D & A painted the kitchen and porch ceiling; but I cleaned every inch of the ceiling beforehand with wet paper towels because I highly doubted his younger sub ordinates would have even bothered. D & A however did a decent job on the flooring, but Dan wasn't involved too much in that. His subcontractor Billy performed well and took pride in his work. I won't say the same for Dan and his younger sub ordinates though. You need an eye for detail in this line of work and D & A builders clearly lacks that, because I notice every flaw they made, I see the flaws every day!

Description of Work: Patch, paint living room and dining room. Rip out cabinets on one side of kichen , install new cabinets, cut see-through hole in wall to living room. Tile backsplash and floor in kitchen. Build small fence around patio. Arrange for plumber and electrician to make repairs. ( Plumber was paid separately by me; tile and new appliances were purchased by me.) What work was done was done exceptionally well. However, the work was never totally completed. Contractor took several jobs in the interim and choose to work on them instead of finishing mine. I was forced to call him regularly and plead for him to return to my job. He asked for final payment early and that was the last I saw of him. One of his sub-contractors took pity on me and finished jobs as he could. Contractor failed to provide me with my copy of the contract, though asked repeatedly for it. Communication was a definite problem. As good as the work was, I would not recommend him. Too many promises, insufficient follow through.

Description of Work: Dan Nichols, owner of D&A Builders, was recommended to me by my real estate agent. The main job I needed done was a master bath remodel. Dan and his crew tore out all the old tile in the shower and replaced it with a gorgeous tile job - better than I could ask for (thanks Billy!). Billy put in backerboard and beautiful earth tone tile with an awesome border and diagonal tiles on the ceiling. I was more than pleasantly surprised by this creativeness. The old linoleum floor was taken out and matching ceramic tile from the shower put in. A new vanity, sink, toilet, and light bar were also put in. I also had two large closet organizers torn out and replaced with a "regular" closet shelf and pole and both closets look 1000% better than before (the workers also painted the closet interiors). I had a mural on a bedroom wall painted over and I can't even tell the mural was ever there. I also had numerous other small items taken care of and a ton of junk from the one-car garage hauled away. Every time I thought of something else, Dan was always willing to add it to the list. D&A Builders does it all! I will definitely use them again when the need arises.
