Dan Ryan Builders

I have some great photos I was hoping to share. Backyard has held water since we closed, despite multiple visits by Dan Ryan Builders to fix it. This usually involved sending two Hispanics out with a shovel to move dirt around. However, Dan Ryan did eventually build a huge trench in-between our row of houses due to the number of underground springs here in the Harvest Ridge development. The trench is big, ugly, denies us the use of our yard and is not mowable due to extreme angles. I have to use weed killer rather than mow. Really hurt the value of our home. Water still pools in our backyard and have a great photos from today that shows: 1) Water has turned black (smells bad) 2) Water has collected over half the length of the backyard making the backyard unusable. Even our dog will only use 1/3 of the backyard due to the "slime" the pooled water has created. 3) Pooled water has caused our wood decking to warp. Even boards we replaced warped. I question whether this lot should have been built upon. After three years we have replaced: - garage door opener - door bell is broken and have been unable to repair it (Dan Ryan Builders won't charge to fix it or send one of their electricians over so I can pay them to fix it) - replaced both toilets (repairman from the large home improvement store said he has already replaced a number of toilets in this new Dan Ryan community) My house and my neighbors both to my left and right have floor to ceiling cracks on the same west basement wall that allowed some water into the basement. Dan Ryan Builders repaired my neighbor's homes from the inside as well as the outside. Mine was only repaired from the inside using epoxy. When I called and requested Dan Ryan Builders repair my basement from the outside as they had done for my neighbors, a guy named Dave (Harvest Ridge Warranty manager) showed up and wouldn't shake my hand. He just went down to the basement and said the wall was no longer leaking so Dan Ryan Builders would not do anything more. Their method of production building was needed in West Virginia, so I am glad they brought the business model to our state. However, these guys don't seem to understand that when a customer pays around a quarter million dollars for a house - maybe you could use better quality items. And for Pete's sake, help the homeowner find an electrician to replace the doorbell. The bottom line is that you should be prepared for a trench to be dug on your property, standing water, warping deck, non-uniform repairs to basement walls, garage door opener failing after three years and not so much as the local warranty manager calling over an electrician to your home so you can pay to have your 3 year old doorbell replaced.
