Central Van & Storage - Allied Van Line

On 10April2018 I contracted with Central Van & Storage, Inc. to move my apartment and 5 10x10 storage units to my new house. They damaged my brand new house and a humidifier. The move occurred on 22May2018. Central Van & Storage sent a crew to perform the move with a cargo leaking truck and it was raining that day (that's how the humidifier was destroyed). Then when they brought the first load from the apartment, they damaged and tore up the walls in my new house. I have proof. That same day Central Van and I went to the storage units to move those to the new house. The van was caught up on some overhead wires. The driver was told by Rich Harmon that he didn't care to rip them down. Needless to say, the power and other utilities were knocked out to the Mileground in Morgantown, WV and my storage units were not moved but rescheduled for over a week away. After some emails to Meri-Ellen Castellano with Central Van for claims purposes, Rich Harmon, the General Manager of Central Van, emailed me and said "we find it in our best interest to cut ties and we will not be completing the move on 30May2018. You will need to hire another mover." Just like that and I was told by Meri-Ellen that no damage claims would be paid, even though there was a contract during the time of the initial move. Central Van decided not to charge me for the first move debacle but that still doesn't excuse them of not fixing/repairing or replacing damaged items. There was a contract in place at the time of the move, Central Van (Rich Harmon) decided not to do certain things about that contract. I feel that everything should be fixed or replaced and it was his decision not to collect the money and to "cut ties". I'm due my repair/replacement money that I did file correctly and on time per the contract.

These guys were great. We had a challenging move due to location and weather and they handled it like champs. No complaining, good teamwork.

Basically all went well.

Moved my furniture about five miles from the old house.

Moved our furniture from one house to another. They were wonderful. So careful and did knot put one scratch or dent on any of the furniture. They did not dilly-dally. | |Actually used them again to move a bed from one room to another. | |Will definitely use them again.

When they sold me the insurance, I assumed that it was for if they were in a wreck. Two things were completely damaged when it arrived. I filled out the paperwork to have it reimbursed and they said I had a $250 deductible that I would have to pay first. I'm sure it was in the fine print, but that's not the way the man explained it. It wasn't work paying $250 to have it fixed.

They contacted me and gave me a 4 hour window of when the furniture would be delivered. They called 15 minutes before arrival and were right on time. They were courteous and helpful.

Did a great job moving us. We were on a very tight timeline to be out of our home. They fit us in with a weeks notice and in spite of being short a crew member they still finished on time.

The move went extremely well. They were on time, and delivered the very next day. They were very courteous, and easy to work with.

I will definitely use them again if needed.

The movers arrived and began to pack. There were at least 6 of them & when I tried to get them to stop and listen to how I wanted things organized they threatened to quit. Little did I know that would have been THE BEST solution. I had 3 households to be marked and seperated and stored. At the end of the first night when the movers were finished and half of all my wordly goods were packed they presented me with a contract that valued my items at 60 cents a pound. I refused to sign the contract and demanded a value added rider. I crossed out the 60 cents per pound in the contract. The next day they returned and took my washer dryer first even though I asked for these items to be loaded last. They took a clean pile of laundry and threw it in the bathroom. Later when I returned from my closing I saw the entertainment stand had been packed and several items in a lock box were strewn in a corner of the room. Items of great value to me both monetarily and sentimentaly were gone. This company refused to replace them. They said they weren't suposed to be packed .I didn't give permission for them to be packed or stolen. This company made several mistakes in delivery and while they did adjust their price for my son and daughter in laws items they told me they didn't have any items marked or set aside for my second son. Refused to deliver Zacks items seperately . I was told that for a fee or $25-50 an hour I could get into my belongings, and have Union Mission meet me over there to receive items I wanted to donate. The company then refused to let me do this. When I finally had my things moved it was noted my younger sons things were indeed packed & marked by a black label of the companys. Some of my older sons and daughter in laws things were mixed in with mine!!! They decided to give a very small discount in the light of what was stolen and broken. An antique mahogony make up table with tri-fold mirror was broken and they paid 60 cents per pound as well as a music box I had given my dad who is no longer living again they gave 60 cents per pound and demanded a report of losses in 10 days! This in the midst of my moms dying of cancer. BEWARE! Do not use this company they are not only bad at what they do they are dishonest. I finally cashed the samll check that wouldn't even cover 1 stolen item because of the finacial crisis and cost of daycare and gas. They also refused to move a &1,200 dollar Refridge that I couldn't disconnect They had packed all my tools onto the truck. I had to leave it behind.
