Different crews of 2 did each door...they did a good job on the entry door except for putting shims under door to level it for closing and not doing any insulating around shims. Company owner came in early 2013 after I had gone to H.D. in search of caulking...there was quite a bit of cold air coming in under door and my husband could actually see daylight. Home Depot salesperson said they would contact installation company, as it was under warranty. Owner came and caulked inside and out, and then returned again in warmer weather to check caulking and see if it needed anything additional. As far as storm door installation, all went very well. I am happy with the jobs done, now that the caulking has been added. Only other negative is that the touch-up paint for exterior and interior of entry door was not left for us...we called company and were told that the owner had it in his truck and would drop it off. That did not happen, so Home Depot ordered new touch-up paints for us.
Description of Work: Installed a new Masonite steel entry door and a new Andersen storm door: both purchased at Home Depot (H.D. uses this company for their door installations unless the customer wants to find their own installer). Did entry door first, in September, 2012,as it had to be special order (door height was not quite standard); then installed storm door at a later date (Nov., 2012) since H.D. recommended having entry door installed and them checking measurement for storm door, since opening was not quite standard.

Description of Work: Installation of new entry door, June 2012, purchased through Home Depot. Door was not installed correctly allowing outside light to be seen through the top of door. Finally, in December, after much debate over door warpage versus installation problem, the door was reinstalled. Original floor trim was not replaced when door was originally installed. Owner told us that he would stain trim to match hardwood floors, then when ready would come back to install. Workers arrived a couple of weeks later with an unstained piece of trim. When I told them it was to be stained first, one of the workers was very rude and left abruptly. Although the owner is very professional, I would not have them back in my home because of this. The would trim has still not installed. The owner recently brought a stained piece of trim to put down, but it was too thick. He said he would take it to the "shop" to adjust the thickness. That was over a week ago. I have finally given up on them returning. Left message with WV Restoration, but did not receive return call. I won't be using them again.

They came to my house and measured my door openings to make sure the size was right. Home Depot had the ordered wrong size for the doors but this contractor saved the mistake and submitted the right sizes. They cleaned up everything beautifully. There were no mistakes, no problems, everything was great. They were early, polite, and very kind. Bog gold star!
Description of Work: They were contractors hired by Home Depot to install an entry door and patio door that I purchased.

Contractor was timely and very competitive with his estimate and began job when promised. Work by his crew continued for 1 day and ended incomplete. We paid the contractor that day! We have been unable to get the contractor back to complete the work for almost 2 years! We placed 5 calls over this period and were promised that it would be put on the schedule. No Show! In late fall of 2010 we called again and the contractor came out to look at the incomplete job. The contractor promised to return in a couple of days. Still No Show! On each call we left messages informing him that the job being incomplete is causing problems with the house. Birds are flying freely in and out of the attic and messing on the house. Also I am unsure if the roof boot was properly sealed. He was to check that also when he came back out. Mastpipe was not completely secured (clamps missing). Damaged soffit was not repaired. Seal was not checked.
Description of Work: Repair service mastpipe by reclamping to side of the house. Repair damaged soffit. Install new service boot on roof and seal.

We purchased our 105 year old Victorian house in March 2008 under an FHA 203K Rehabilitation Program. After struggling for 2.5 years with a couple of poor and unreliable contractors, spending a lot of money and trying to get our house finished and liveable, we found Bob Spencer of WV Restoration and Remodelling. What a revelation to have a trustworthy and reliable contractor that does outstanding work! He painted and repaired all exterior house trim; completely restored the front porch using spindles and woodwork copied from the originals; reglazed and repaired 31 windows and installed storm windows; restored/remodelled our 1/2 bath downstairs; refinished all oak hardwood floors downstairs; replaced missing oak trim and woodwork; repaired 2 antique tile fireplace hearths; finished our kitchen and pantry remodelling by hanging wall cabinets and fabricating missing trim and a multitude of small repairs. His crew are concientious, meticulous and truly enjoy working on these old homes - their workmanship is second to none! We couldn't ask for more and would recommend Bob to anyone contemplating restoring or remodelling an old house.
Description of Work: Finished total house restoration on a 105 year old Victorian house, which had been partially (poorly) completed by other contractors.
