After moving into the house, we started noticing concerns in which we started noticing items that we believed were code violations. For example, the sewage vents did not vent to the outside. When the air handler turns on the sewage gases are sucked back inside. Second, there is no light switch at the end of the second story hallway. You must walk in complete darkness in order to get to the steps to go downstairs. The air handler is also over 15 feet from the attic access making it difficult to change the air filter. In addition, when I pulled the floorboard back from the wall I found the wiring for the fireplace were simply stapled to the 2x4's and not ran through the 2x4s. Other issues were discovered as well. No kick plates were installed on any of the cabinets. The washing machine had no electricity. The spigot on the outside of the house leaks tremendously when a hose is connected. In addition, a few of the shelves were missing in the refrigerator. The night before Thanksgiving we had the sewage back up on the second floor. We contacted the Realtor since the builder would not answer. We were promised that somebody would come out. We came home a day early from our trip to find nobody to come out. Upon fixing the back up, we discovered that the toilet seals were not just put on backward, but the floor was not made flush to make an appropriate seal. The only thing that the builder has been willing to do is to fix the wash room outlet and put "auto vents" on two of the three sewage stacks. It has been nearly 1 and a half years and still nothing. The MO of the builder is to tell you to contact the foreman. The foreman answers and he states he'll call you back, but never does.
