Mr. Halterman was terrific! Incredibly professional, punctual and easy to get in touch with throughout the process. He and his team paid a lot of attention to detail and did a wonderful job. They went above & beyond what we expected.

Chris came to my house to look at the existing retaining wall and to give me an estimate on replacing it. He was very knowledgeable on the materials I wanted to use and told me everything they were going to do and even brought some examples of the pins and material that would hold the wall in place. A few days later I got an estimate from him and a few weeks later he started on my job (he was already working on another job when he came to give me an estimate). His crew was outstanding. They showed up on time every morning and at the end of each day they cleaned up all the dirt, gravel, etc.. They kept me informed as to what they did that day and what they had planned to do the next day. It had rained one night and into the next morning but that didn't stop his crew. They showed up after the rain had stopped and continued stacking the blocks for the wall. The existing wall was 100' long and I had told them I would like the wall shortened and the land sloped to match the existing slope. That was all the direction I gave them. They took about 25' off the wall and sloped the hillside and it looks great! When the wall was finished they put down river rock and seeded the hillside where they sloped it. The wall and the surrounding area looks AMAZING!!! I couldn't be happier with their work. I would definitely hire them again.

I would absolutely recommend Halterman Landscaping to anyone. Chris Halterman is very professional and shows up at the time promised. He came to our home on two separate occasions to provide opinions and estimates before we hired him to do any work. We recently had him complete an entire aeration on our yard and in the spring we intend to hire him to do additional landscaping work (flower beds, etc). We have been very pleased with this company.

Chris showed up when he said he would for estimates, work, etc (which we haven't always found to be the case in Morgantown.) He communicated with us along the way regarding rain delays ,etc The 10x10 kennel deck he built is essentially a stand-alone deck that could be used for other purposes as well. Our yard is sloped and he did a nice job making a level deck. The deck is VERY sturdy and is working out great because our dog can't dig in the yard and in general makes the kennel look more attractive. The main project for us was the replacement of our field stone walk that was deteriorating with a walk made out of pavers. We have been waiting to do this project for some time, so we were nervous about finding a landscaper that wouldn't disappoint us. We succeeded! Our walk was a little tricky (or seemed a little tricky to us) as part of it sloped back into the garage and it was on a curve. Chris suggested that we build a little step up out the garage which fixed the slope problem and I think makes the walk look even nicer. What really impressed me was the neatness of the work. Due to the curve of the walk, his crew had to cut the pavers into very small pieces to get the the curve to work. I was amazed at how small they could cut a paver and the straight lines that they maintained. Chris even brought in some river rock and filled in part of the space between the house and the walk which added another aesthetic touch. I still keep looking at the walk and I can't believe how good it looks! His crew is very diligent, hard working and best of all they know what they are doing! I enjoyed having them around. We would definitely hire Chris and his team again.

They did fantastic job. Chris and his crew were very punctual and pleasant, and communicated with me in a timely manner throughout the project. The workers were very tidy and maintained/cleaned up the work area each day. It was evident that they paid a lot of attention to detail. They even provided some "additional" landscaping to the backyard just as an "extra" and also removed some concrete boulders and a brick fireplace. Additionally, the final total came in a little under the original estimate. I was extremely satisfied with the finished project. I plan to use them again this coming spring and would not hesitate to recommend their services to the community.

Halterman Landscaping transformed our dirt and rock yard into a park-like area with many natural looking features. We are amazed at Chris? vision. In addition to the wonderful patio and walkway he created, his use and placement of rocks gave us a beautiful and relaxing setting that fits in nicely with the architectural style of the home. After a long search for a quality and reasonably priced landscaper we finally discovered Halterman Landscaping. On Chris? initial site visit we discussed our wants and desires. We were looking for a patio and courtyard that would complement the style of our home and surrounding property. Chris studied the property and noticed that we also needed to improve the direction of rain water runoff. After several meetings involving scope and materials, a plan was developed that would meet most of our wants and still remain within our project budget. Based on this we scheduled a start date. The Halterman crew arrived as close to schedule as weather permitted. They were consistently polite, considerate, hardworking and on time. The worksite was kept in nice order throughout the project and was completed with little inconvenience to our comings and goings. Our project timeline was very close to Chris? initial projection in spite of a few days lost because of weather. We do not hesitate to highly recommend this company.

Mr. Halterman and his team were as professional and delightful to work with as always. They came in two half-day shifts and left the house looking beautiful. I don't have time for yardwork myself so it's a pleasure to simply come home and find everything in perfect order. Before they left they cleaned the driveway, back patio and front walkways as well. Mr. Halterman checked frequently to monitor progress (he has an excellent landscape architect managing the work, who made recommendations for hard-to-landscape bits on my property) and made sure I was satisfied with the final product before signing off. Halterman also offers a summer-long upkeep service that I plan to use. For a fixed fee his staff stop by once a month to clean, mow, and maintain seasonal flowers. That just leaves me with one mowing a month by myself and a year-round garden for outdoor entertainment. I will definitely use them again.

Chris and company are always pinctual, extremely pleasant a do a great job. This is the second time we've used them and we couldn't be more pleased. They always put everything back and leave things better than they found them. I highly recommend them.

Halterman Landscaping came to the house for a consult and returned approximately one week letter for a presentation of their plans. They had a blueprint design and plenty of visual aids which helped tremendously. We made a down payment and scheduled a start date. He was very punctual and on schedule. They were very friendly to work with and gave plenty of instructions on care of the new plants. I was very pleased with their work and professionalism. I would highly recommend Halterman Landscaping. I plan to use them again for future projects.

We couldn't be more pleased with the work. It's just want we wanted and working with them was a real pleasure. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for landscaping work. From beginning to end, they were responsive and professional.

We had a 65'x36" stone wall in our back yard that had started to buckle pretty severely in some spots. We were looking for someone that could basically repair it using the existing stone because we really liked it. Chris came out the day after I contacted him to take a look at the wall and give us some suggestions. He provided us with several options and we decided to go ahead with un-stacking and restacking the entire wall. After un-stacking the wall, he excavated behind the wall and placed a drainage pipe and crushed stone before restacking the stones. He added additional support to the wall using some mortar that did not affect the look of the wall at all. I had many plants that needed to be moved during the un-stacking and restacking faze that he replanted when the job was done. A few rose bushes didn't survive but he was kind enough to replace those at no additional cost to us. He estimated approx. 2 weeks for the job and that's about how long it took. As the previous review mentions, this is not his full time job so he mainly worked on weekends with his assistant and came by a few evenings during the week. They were always very professional and cleaned up after themselves each time they were in the yard. It was a very labor intensive job and not one that we wanted to take on ourselves. The wall came out better than I had expected so I am very pleased. Our grass did take a beating with the use of some of his equipment but he did re-seed and lay straw when the job was complete. We also had an additional much smaller stone wall that we had him restack that also turned out great. I should mention that he also touched up the topsoil and re-mulched any areas that were disturbed during this process.

An outstanding experience, start to finish. Mr. Halterman worked closely with me on every detail, and provided me with a variety of options but honestly his ideas were much better than my own. He can take your simple description and transform it into something out of a Home and Garden photo layout. He has long-standing relationships with stone and gravel suppliers and doesn't mark up materials. He remained in constant contact with me throughout the project, and explained each step in the process; the worksite was also kept clean and orderly throughout the project. Because he works full time elsewhere and has one assistant, don't expect him to start on Day 1 and work straight through for six days to finish. He works days off and weekends over a period of 2-3 weeks for larger jobs. The final product has added substantially to the value of my house and, I must admit, is far more beautiful than I ever imagined.
