+ 0 moreAfter speaking to Daryl I have complete confidence in him and his company. If I ever need an appliance repair in the future I will be sure to call him.
Description of Work: I thought I needed a repair on my clothes washer. I phoned and spoke to Daryl and explained the problem I thought I had. He told me how this was a normal part of the way the machine is supposed to work and there was no need to have someone come out to look at it. Before I phoned Hoyt Appliance Repair I spoke to another local (well known) repair company. I explained the problem and the answer she gave was; "we charge $100 plus tax to come out and look at it" Thank God and Angie's List for Daryl Hoyt!

+ -1 moreGreat service, prompt, and reasonably priced. They repaired our wall ovens last year and came out recently to repair our washer. After diagnosing and finding it was an expensive part for a 20 yr-old washer, we decided to replace rather than repair. Daryl provided helpful suggestions on brands to look for and those to stay away from. We needed an evening apt and there was no extra charge. Very knowledgeable on wide variety of appliances and brands. Glad we've found an honest repairman that's looking at his business and his customers on a long term basis. Nice to know we only need one phone number to call for all our appliance repairs. Thanks !

Description of Work: Needed a part for oven, would not heat. I thought it might be the element but it was another part. Pleased with service and very reasonable. Final part installation was delayed due to computer issue with scheduling. Oven works great now.

+ 0 moreDaryl was able to come out the day after I called. We had arranged for him to call when he was on his way so I could come home and meet him. He called within the window he said he would. The problem was what he had suspected it was when we talked on the phone, so he had the part and the repair went quickly. He was careful about not getting water on the floor as he defrosted the back of the freezer, and answered all my questions politely and professionally. He also retrieved my cat, who snuck out the door when he was taking his tools back to the car. (That was my fault - I'd gone to get my wallet and wasn't keeping an eye on her.)

+ 0 moreOur washing machine was giving an error msg that indicated a possible pump problem. We used Hoyt in the past and had a fabulous older tech who I suppose is now retired. He is the reason that we called again. I was told the earliest a tech could come out was on Sunday. I thought a sun was odd but okay.... I work on Sundays, so my husband was home waiting with 2 small children for the repair guy. 2 hours after the appointment window my husband called to tell me no one had shown shown up.He finally got in touch with someone who came out 4 hours after the appointment window. He spent all of 5 min in our laundry room. He pulled off the lower portion of the washing machine took one look and announced it was a bad pump that would cost us 175 + labor to replace, and that it would not be worth it. Oh.... then charged us $100 for the service call! Apparently it costs more to come out on a Sunday, which I wasn't told, nor did I ask for a Sunday. I called on a Friday. Long story short, will not be calling them again.

Description of Work: Yesterday, May 4, the owner of Hoyt Appliance Co., Daryl Hoyt, came to my house to repair the pilot light on my 12 year old gas oven. He spent a great deal of time working on it and explained in detail what he was doing. He showed me the parat that needed replacing and begrudingly told me the cost of the part was $88.00. He then told me that the cost of the part when coupled with an $80 per hour labor charge, the oven was not practical to repair. He informed me that the oven was dangerous to use and that he didn't advise putting about $300 in repair costs into a 12 year old oven. I happened to mention the fact that my toilet was broken. He took a look at it and repaired it within five minutes. I was told by the gentleman who answers his office phone that the basic charge for just coming out was $65. When I asked Mr. Hoyt what I owed him he said "$20.00." He obviously took into account my age of 67 years , my physical handicap and the bare bones financial status I am always in. I offered him $30 and he accepted that. Mr. Hoyt was not only honest, he had an aura of kindness about him. I got the feeling that he was a very spiritual person. I don't know how I'm going to save up the money for a new oven, but I appreciate his honesty. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs any type of appliance repair.

+ -1 moreOur Washing Machine broke and we contacted Hoyt's appliance repair to get an estimate to fix it. He came out and looked it over and let us know that it would be more expensive to fix the machine then it would be to purchase a new one. He was very friendly and I really appreciated the honesty. Instead of trying to fix it and it costing us a lot of money to repair a 10 year old washing machine he broke it down to how it would be best just to replace it. Which is what we did. He also gave us a tip on a website to purchase parts for small appliances if we wanted to attempt to fix it ourselves first.
Description of Work: We contacted Hoyt's to look over our broken washing machine. He found what was wrong with it and told us how much it was going to cost for parts and labor and an estimate of how much longer the washing machine would last after the repairs before something else broke. It was a 10 year old economy washing machine.
