Becher's Quality Painting & Home Improvement

We recently hired Don Belcher to paint the inside of our home and front door. We could not be more pleased with our decision to do so. Don promptly provided us with an estimate of the cost, that he didn't go over, and was able to start painting earlier than originally planned. Do was meticulous in his work and went the extra mile to ensure no paint went where it shouldn't. When schedules changed due to other work being done in the house, Don was flexible and cooperative in rearranging his schedule to ensure deconfliction. Don has an outstanding work ethic, showing up on time and giving us a full day's work for a full day's pay. Our job was his number one priority until completion. In addition to doing a top-notch painting job, Don assisted with little extras such as making recommendations, running to get and change light fixtures, airflow regulators, outlet/switch covers, etc. He also provided us with great information about the community as we were new to West Virginia...restaurants, social activities, and outdoor recreation. Don is a true gentleman and the consummate professional. He has our highest recommendation.

Don took on a challenging job for us in removing a considerable amount of old wall paper and painting every room in our house to prepare it for sale. Additionally, as the job progressed he also helped us with other needed home repairs including installing a new bathroom vanity. I am from out of town and needed someone I could trust to come into my parents home and work without oversight. Don filled those shoes and in fact, displayed his honesty in showing me a previously unnoticed drawer of family valuables. We likely would have lost these items if not for Don. Don also handled providing all needed supplies and tools, which was a great help. The job took longer than expected, but the work was tedious and more complicated than thought. Don completed the job with high quality work. He was friendly, positive, detail oriented and generous in handing other repairs needed.

The only negative reviews of this company seem to be those where services were not performed yet and the folks maybe got tired of waiting for Don to complete jobs already in the pipeline. We had to wait 6-8 weeks from the estimate to painting day but it was worth it. Don does an excellent job and will take the time to do it right and finish the job to your liking. As many reviewers commented, he will do many extra things for you, often for no extra charge. While painting our ceilings he offered to change out our older recessed lighting fixtures for new and better led fixtures. He heard our dissatisfaction with our air return vents that stuck out into the hallways and rooms and offered to replace with new vents that stayed much closer to the walls. Don is a very nice gentleman who is trustworthy and friendly. We often left him in our home painting while we went out shopping. Don't worry about having to move heavy furniture or even the refrigerator for your painting job. Don is very skilled and well-tooled to handle it all. He did an excellent job of painting our house and cheerfully went back and made any touch-ups that we requested.

I couldn’t be happier with the results! Not only is he an extremely kind person, but his work is impeccable! I have a few more projects to do, and I will definitely ask him to come back to complete them.

This guy is awesome. If there was one of those big red "easy" buttons for getting the interior of your house painted it would be on his jacket. We had him over for an estimate, gave him the colors we wanted and then just got out of the way. The work was flawless and he is one of the most professional contractors I have ever used. When the need arises (and it will) I will use him again.

Don went far beyond the call of duty and is a true professional. He began working on the house while we were out of the Charleston area, and was very helpful with other contractors, and communicated everything he finished each day by sending pictures. He always asked if there were questions about what he should be doing. He is very careful, and tapes everything off. He never makes a mess, and cleans up at the end of each day. As a result of Don's work, our house looks incredible. He also does wood work and small repairs, and always does more than he is under contract to do. He is a highly reliable, good honest worker and he treated our house with great care. He bought the paint, brushes, and material supplies, and knows a number of other area contractors.

Don did an excellent job. The quality and timeliness of his work was great, and he was very easy to work with. He even managed to get some of the messy paint off of our trim that had been left behind by the previous homeowner. I would definitely recommend him.

Great! Don gave us an estimate that we were pleased with and did a great job painting a significant portion of our house.He also helped with a number of other small issues like replacing a troublesome piece of crown molding. He is a very pleasant person and became like a member of the family!

Words can hardly express what an outstanding job Mr. Becher and his brother, Bill, did. They were extremely polite, professional, honest and completely trustworthy, not to mention, pleasant. I had no problem providing them the garage code and allowing them to work alone in our home both before and after we moved in. Their work was METICULOUS. They painstakingly did their work, without taking any shortcuts. They removed shelves, doorknobs, and even our laundry room sink rather than tape off and paint around them. Due to the situation with a floor refinisher who was the complete opposite of Mr. Becher, working with him was a welcome relief. No matter what I asked of him, he always obliged with a smile. He also kept his work area nice and neat at all times. In addition, he responded promptly to text messages and calls. He came to work 5 days a week, unless he needed to take time off for personal reasons, and then he let me know in advance. At times, he even stayed late and waited for me to get home from work to proudly show me the day's results. Further, he provided clear estimates for painting each room prior to his work and kept me fully informed at all times of where we were on materials and extra (non-painting) work. His costs were extremely reasonable for the work he performed. He worked hard to make sure our home was ready for our first big family gathering. I have high standards and have purchased and renovated numerous homes, including two I custom built, and I can honestly say I have never met a contractor with whom I trusted and enjoyed working with more. Anyone who has done renovations knows how stressful they can be. Mr. Becher made it as stress-free as possible. His primary concern was making me happy with his work, and that he did. (For example, when I changed my mind about the paint shade for our common area, he patiently got additional samples and painted the wall in various places so I could decide; in fact, he never painted more than one wall with a shade before allowing me to approve before going further.) I can't imagine how anyone could have a negative experience with him. Our project has been extensive and lasted for over three months. Not only have I met a contractor, I've made a friend for life. I could not recommend him more highly. As an aside, I did not know Mr. Becher (or his brother) and had never heard of him before my project. I picked him solely based on his rating on Angie's List, and I can see why he is rated #1, as he deserves it.

After coming over for an estimate on a Monday, Mr. Becher said he would get back in a couple of days. Had to call a week later for the estimate. The project was bid at $1800 and when I did not not call back, Mr. Becher followed-up and agreed to $1500 for the job. He said he would be available in two (2) weeks, but that time period has since passed and there has been no further correspondence from him to update his availability. Regardless of Mr. Becher's responses to negative reviews, that phone contact can occur both ways, as a service provider it is his responsibility to follow up.

Mr. Becher did an excellent job painting the foyer and hallways. He was good to talk with us about the project and make recommendations. Mr. Becher is friendly to your pets, has a good sense of humor and will talk with you.

Mr. Beecher returned to complete a project he was unable to complete as contracted in the past year due to a shoulder injury. He was was true to his word. He successfully completed a difficult painting project that required some skim layering and sanding due to a difficult wallpaper removal process. My wife and I are very pleased with the final product as it was an arduous one due to the repair processes and painting. Mr. Beecher completed the project in a professional manner inclusive of matching an a outdated / no longer available tint from the original distributor with a higher quality brand at a lesser price. We consider this an A plus job. Very well done. Thx much.

Mr. Becher did an amazing job at a great price! I was thorough and took care in making sure the final product was acceptable. He was very responsive and if he was going to be delayed at all he communicated with us. Excellent service provider!!

I removed the wallpaper and the walls looked horrible. They were stained from the glue and several holes were in the walls where cabinets had previously been. Don came to the rescue! He sanded the walls and patched over the holes and painted. The walls look almost new. He also painted the back of the door and the frame. He does a fabulous job. He always cleans up after is job, so there is no mess to clean up after he's finished his job. Very professional!

I cannot say enough about Don. Don is very knowledgeable and professional. Unlike most contractors, Don communicates with you every step of the way. You know when he will be there and exactly how long the job will last. Don is a perfectionist and the results are amazing. I am sorry that I am so late writing this review. I would definitely hire Don again. Cost of services very reasonable.

Don was a pleasure to work with. He was able to squeeze us in to accommodate our moving date. Received quick response when called/able to meet on my schedule - I would definitely hire again and I have already recommended him to a coworker.

I never received any messages, nor calls. I was hoping to schedule the week of 7/7, 7/8 or 7/9/14; but now I'm not going to do it at all.

Don did an exceptional job on painting the major interior areas of my house. I am so pleased! He cleaned my ceiling fan in my stairwell (which I didn't even ask him to do). It had so much dust that Lawrence of Arabia would have had a difficult time getting through it. He replaced the globe with a brighter one and now I have lots of light. My house doesn't get much direct sunlight, so I chose an ultra white paint for the walls and ceilings. My house looks much brighter and fresher. I work two jobs, and I didn't have the time or energy to remove some of the switch covers and Don removed a few of those for me. He also hung a new picture on my wall that I've had for a couple of years. Don was punctual, professional, courteous and very neat. When he finished for the day, the areas of my house were neat and clean. I plan to have him back next year, to paint the remainder of my house. He is also scheduled to return and paint my new back door after it is installed in a few weeks. He does a tremendous job. You can't go wrong with him. Hire this man and you will be glad you did! First class!

It turned out very well. I'd never used them before. I'm going to use them again. They were very professional, pleasant, and punctual. I haven't had any issues since the service was provided.

Don Becher is an excellent painter who does a wonderful and professional job. He takes his time, strives for perfection, and keeps everything neat and cleaned up daily. Although the price seems high so are the walls-12 foot ceilings. He is also very kind and goes the extra mile; picking up light bulbs and such at Home Depot and replacing those that were burned out, turning off the gas and water to prepare for the countertop guys and most impressively, making our ridiculously dangerous attic stairs MUCH safer and doing that at no charge. Highly recommend him.
