Description of Work: You be the judge....inspection done in mid-January and here it is March 13 and no return phone calls or email sine the home inspection. First order of business was asking me to pay him. Was at my home for maybe two or three hours and was on the phone for at least an hour and a half talking to people unrelated to my house. He's credentials were impressive but now I know why....several jobs in several careers so I'm convinced its because he never finished a job!

We previously used the owner of this home inspection company to inspect a home in the Barboursville, WV area, and felt that we were provided with a thorough home inspection. (Please note that my husband accompanied the home inspector during the entire inspection). We again called the owner of this company to inspect another home (approx. 11 years old) which we were considering purchasing in Proctorville, Ohio; and although my husband nor I was available to accompany the home inspector during this inspection, we nonetheless expected and trusted the home inspector to provide us with a thorough inspection of the property. Upon taking possession of the property, we found ourselves in complete shock regarding some major problems that were completely overlooked by the home inspector. (1) Structural/Construction - EXCESSIVE USE OF WOOD SHIMMS had not been mentioned in the inspection report for the Proctorville house, although the inspector had stated his disapproval to my husband regarding a couple of wooden shimms in the Barboursville house; (2) the middle section of the concrete porch had tilted down toward the front wall of the house, which should have been evident, if the porch had been inspected; (3) the ductwork in the crawlspace was sagging nearly to the ground and found to be full of water/mold/mildew, which the inspector could not have missed had he actually inspected the foundation thoroughly, and (4) although no problems had been reported with the windows, the windows were found to have several problems, ***Note: these windows were actually pictured in the report, marked as "IN=Inspected" and stated above the statement above the pictures read "tested and found to be operational": one of the upstairs (wood frame) windows was completely and unmistakably rotted, several others were screwed shut (due to the fact that the top window wouldn't stay up without the screws), one had a broken pane, one had a broken spring mechanism and not operational and several were just simply not secure and could not be locked due to what appeared to be improper installation. When we contacted the home inspector regarding the problems, he offered to help my husband replace the wooden shims with metal and wrote a reinspection report indicating that the water in the ductwork did not exist at the time of his initial inspection. These are only a few of the problems we have encountered with our current home, and to date we have invested nearly fifty thousand dollars in repairs, and still have approximately forty thousand dollars in additional repairs needed to put the house back in a good marketable condition. Although a lawsuit was filed a year and a half ago, this home inspector has failed to file an answer to the complaint. This experience has been extremely costly to our family both personally and financially, and I just want others to BEWARE.
Description of Work: Home Inspection prior to purchase.
