DOG GONE HANDY

Description of Work: We hired these people to build a bathroom in our basement. I got his name from our insurance company. I thought since it came from our insurence office it should be ok. We told him that we didn't want to spend a fourtune on this project. h His estiment was confusing at best. I have pictures of his mess. I paid for all materials. He tried to keep the left over flooring but we had to ask for it because it was taking from our basement. He did bring it back. Well he went to put the shower in and it leak. they came a couple times to try to fix the leak. They never got the leak fix. Then when we flushed the toilet it went into a hole in the floor. It turnrd out it was a sweage pump. Mr Dog Gone Handy didn't know what that was. So he called a plumber. (Barr Plumbing great company) So now we have to buy a sweage pump and pay to get it installed. Come to find out mr dog gone handy does not have a plumbers license. So he had no right to touch our plumbing. And he has no electrical license either. So he committed several crimes. Come to find out he has no license to do anything in West Virginia. His helpers put burn holes in our new floor and ripped the vinyl flooring in sereral places. Mr dog gone handy said it was our fault it ripped because we didn't buy the expensive vinyl. Didn't even offer to replace it. (we finally got him to pay half of the bill to fix flooring) The whole bathroom was a big mess. It was the ugliest bathroom I had ever seen. I cried for months. Mr dog gone handy wouldn't listen to my concerns. He just wanted his money. I just wanted him out of my house. So we hired Barr Plumbling to fix all their messes. Cost us more money. After all my crying and mad fits my husband went out and bought new flooring, new trim, painted the walls, and redone the grout in the shower. When they left the floor was so dirty and paint and mud and grout and tape stuck to the floor. So my husband decided to cover the floor with different flooring. The new trim looks great. Bathroom cost us a small fortune but after my husband got done with it its beautiful..So the lesson I learned thru this is get more references than one and go see what other work he has done before hiring anyone. He also told us we really didnt need permits. If asked just say we were doing this ourselves. Wow what a liar and scum bag he was. Never ever hire this person.
