Horrible, I temporary fixed it so I had power to my refrigerator and washer and dryer. Since he saw that everything was working and this was through American Home Shield. He told them everything was OK and everything was working. So I still have a burnt main 200 amp panel to my whole house. They never did a follow up call or anything. But mentioned to my wife before he left the panel will need replaced. Thanks for the advice.

We recently purchased a new home and started to notice power trouble in one particular room. At first we just thought it was a one time thing, but the power kept going out to that room, once tripping the breaker, and since our computers are in that room, we decided to call our hoome warranty company to see what could be done. Why our warranty company put us with Collin Electric, I do not know. Their service area is no where close to our home and may have accounted for the technician's slightly surly attitude. Collins Electric does not work on the weekends, so although the warranty company called them on a Saturday, we weren't going to hear anything from them until the business week. Now I don't mind a small compnay that doesn't work weekends, but during the week the recepionist and I played phone tag for a while. It seems that Collins Electric are so busy that every time I called I got the machine or that they let all calls go to the machine. I don't have my cell phone at work and the inability to get a hold of a provider and play phone tag was not putting the company in positive light already. When the receptionist and I finally were able to talk, I was told that there was a four hour window that the technician could show up during. Perhaps this is a standard thing, but most of the other service technicans in other fields either gave a precise time or a much much smaller time window. They were unwilling to come anytime after 5 pm. After a back and forth, since their window that would require me to miss half a day of work wasn't desirable and I don't have the time off/leave to do that, we finally agreed that the window would stay, but the technician would come as close to 4 pm as his schedule allowed and would call with an estimated arrival time to allow me/us to leave work early. Although I still could not leave work, my husband was able to leave early. The tech or the company did not call as promised before arriving and also arrived a little before 3 pm. My husband states the technician never rang the two doorbells we have and must have had the softest knock ever. Fortunately, my husband caught the guy as he was getting back in his truck to leave. Not calling as promised, arriving over a hour before the 4 pm agred time, and not ringing the doorbells makes me believe that this tech was actively trying to miss this appointment. The technician was surly and slightly impatient. He was not knowledgable about the house, asking if the home was ten years old, when the home and wiring is at least 41 years old. If an electrician cannot tell that the house he's looking at has old wiring, then I have no trust in his skill to perform anything else. The electrician stated that the wiring was fine and the problem must be related to a space heater that we would occasionally plug in. The less-than-two-weeks-old, brand new, energy-efficent space heater that we purchased *after* the power outage problems were noticed. We mentioned that the GFCIs were also not working, could they have something to do with the power issues. The tech agreed that the GFCIs were not working, but did not have the neccessary equipment to replace them. (Personally, that seems like a slightly common thing and it is odd he wouldn't have something basic like that.) He would have to return back out. We have not received a follow up call about our experience or about coming back out. The service charge was our warranty deductible, thouygh I believe based on the experience, that it was really not worth the money. However, we don't like or trust the company and will be telling the warrany compnay about our level of service. We do not recommend this company.
Description of Work: Inspected our electrical system for the cause of several recent power outages in one specfic room of our home.

I contacted AHS on a Sunday and Collins called the next day. They were ready to schedule for that week, but I wanted to delay one week. Mr. Collins arrived right on time the day he was supposed to. He identified the problem VERY quickly and fixed it. If I did not have the warranty, I would use him again. He's very professional and excellent.
Description of Work: A circuit breaker for the upstairs bathroom and master bedroom tripped and couldn't be reset. I have a warranty with AHS and they referred me to Collins.
