Description of Work: Lowe's provided materials and a contractor for a small kitchen/bathroom renovation. The contractor tried to inflate the project but Lowe's followed my directions. Lowe's provided incorrect or damaged materials on several occasions. The kitchen cabinet installation was inadequately completed before the counter top installers arrived, even though the contractor had more than three weeks advance notice of the schedule. The same contractor installed a new bathtub and shower enclosure without first considering how level the floor was and the sliding door required custom modification to work properly. By the time Lowe's fired them important caulking had not been done and the shower door leaked out onto the floor and dripped through the ceiling in my finished basement. The contractor also broke the shower head during installation and never managed to replace the click-lock stopper for the tub. I ended up installing the replacement shower head myself and caulking every seam in the shower enclosure and most joints in the shower door frame before the leaking stopped.

Description of Work: Bought a medium-priced gas range. Deliver went well and, so far, the gas range is all I expected for this price range. Received 15% discount for floor model.

Sales person and Scheduler were professional. Installers arrived on time and installed door with no problems. We have puchased several products from Lowes and have always been pleased with their service. Also, my husband is an Air Force veteran and Lowes recognizes this with a discount.

I financed $9000 worth of kitchen cabinets through Lowes. Apparently, though I don't remember, I agreed to an insurance policy for the financing in case of loosing my job while making payments. When looking at the payments each month, the total due would never seem to go down by much even though I paid more than the minimum. After calling and waiting (my battery phone went dead while waiting), I found out the problem and cancelled the insurance. They tried to talk me out of it but did go along with my wishes. After that, the loan was paid off well within the deadline of the interest free loan requirement. So beware! Also, one cabinet came without a shelf. When I called about it, the salesperson I went through said that particular cabinet did not come with a shelf even though it has holes drilled for the shelf holders. So I got creative with stacking stuff in that cabinet. The cabinets look great and clean very nicely. In spite of the few problems, I am very pleased with my purchase.
Description of Work: As regards the counter tops, there was a huge mix up because Lowe's had changed contracters between the time I placed my order and when the counter tops were ready to be installed. It took several weeks to work out the mix up. The installers that came did an excellent job. They were quick, efficient, and very accurate. They were from Virginia.

The installers showed up around 9:AM and by 11:AM, I had a brand new door with sleeves or wings. It was cold but the calking they used could withstand the cold. I didn't stay to watch them actually do it, but it fit seemlessly into the opening created by the removal of the previous door. The two men were very experienced at this and the lead installer gave me his card, reminded me that it had a year guarantee for the installation but I could call him anytime if I noticed any problems. He also advised me that as soon as the weather hit 60 degrees to paint the wood trim. I can want until warmer weather before painting the door. The next weekend was perfect and I actually painted all the trim so it would look nice. It will need another coat when Spring actually arrives. Very nice job.
Description of Work: The purchase experience was a nightmare due to the lack of qualified employees. You're always going to pay top dollar for whatever you buy there unless its some clearance item. The installer was the best part of the deal but the cost of having Lowe's supply an installer averages to about $200 per hr. with Lowe's keeping most of that amount. This is due to government making it impossible for someone to act independently. Including all of the fees, workers comp, and outrageous taxes, the independent contractor will soon disappear and be forced to work for large companies like Lowe's or Home Depot. Government regulation was legislated for the right reason but it is incapable of sustaining itself without waste and bloat causing business taxes to rise along with the yearly licensing fee because no other institution is more inefficient than government!

I am not very sure on the exact cost as there were three different sub-contractors who came in to do the various jobs and I had to write three different checks. I would not have worked with them if they were unfairly priced. This was the fourth or fifth house that I had bought and I had built one of the houses from the ground up. They have worked for me before and I believed their price to be reasonable. I had just moved in here and since, I was new to the area, I did not know anything about individual contractors and things like that. I also did not know anybody with whom I could ask. I had used Lowe's before for all the electrical and flooring work. So, I went to them and got it all set up. They all did a very good job and they were very helpful. I had their project manager call me every day who informed me about the work that was going on. They were easy to work with.
Description of Work: I have used the services of Lowe's during the fall season of the year 2008. I had the engineered coat counter tops put in and all the new appliances put in my house. They did all the sales and installation for this work.
