GREG'S TREE SERVICE

Absolutely wonderful service. Did everything we needed and did not cost an arm and a leg.

Provider was performing other work in neighborhood, so I had a general idea of when they would start, but not a specific date. I just happened to be home one afternoon when someone started cutting trees in my front yard. No warning. Provider was good to get an estimate for us, but hesitated to provide a written contract, though he eventually did. Estimate dropped each time I talked with him, and he offered lower price for cash payment--which he insisted be paid partway through the job. We settled on two payments, approximately 1/2 after first several days and the remainder the last day on the job. The problem was, he showed up the last day his crew was at our house, but before they truly finished the work. Had I been home at the time he came by, I would have withheld at least part of that payment until the last tree was finished bring cut and removed. I attempted multiple times to contact him to have him come finish the work (crew left one tree hanging partially cut over one building on our property, and multiple stumps that were supposed to be leveled and/or removed (these we knew couldn't be ground out because of where they were). I even sent him pictures of the remaining work. No response after an initial success at reaching him shortly after the crews left our property. He gave us a bunch of hard luck stories (equipment breaking, wife sick, crew calling out, etc.)--though promised to come our and check things/finish the job. Needless to say we were very disappointed. He had been highly recommended by my parents, where he had done work the previous fall, and my folks are quite particular about work done on and around their home. The primary difference with them though is that they paid via check. We were in a position that the lower price for cash was more appealing--and now we have ended up needing to pay someone else to finish his work. As mentioned earlier, he was doing other jobs in our neighborhood--and unfortunately there were similar results. Everyone kept thinking that the crews world be back to finish "their" job as they completed others' on our street. One neighbor in particular had huge stumps/logs on his back hill until he finally got someone else to take them out. If you decide to use him, (which we did after getting two other quotes) either font pay cash or stand your ground about withholding payment until the job is completed to your satisfaction.

Overall it was better than expected. I was impressed on how fast and hard his crew worked.

I signed the contract with him on June 18th of 2012 and two guys came out the next two days, but no one ever came out to finish the job. There was concrete that was busted from them tearing it up and it still has not been cleaned up. I am now having a rodent issue because of the job being left unfinished. I have tried numerous times to contact Greg but he ignores my calls and won't pick up. I attempted to call him from my work phone and he immediately answered, stating that he would be out within the next week to finish the job, but still hasn't showed. I would never use him again. This has been a nightmare and a horrific experience. Even when the contract was drawn up he was unethical and added pricing in that we had not discussed prior to the job.

The quality of the work was terrific and also was done very efficiently. Also everything was done on schedule as promised. We would certainly use Greg's Tree Service again. Excellent work!!

They did a good job.

I explicitedly ask him to be careful and not damage my fence when cutting down these trees. He said if it was damaged he would fix it because he was licensed and insured. The tree climber dropped a huge log on my fence breaking the wooden rail. He said he reported it to his boss and that someone would be back the same evening and fix the fence. That evening when the owner Greg came to grind the stumps, I asked him if he was going to fix my fence when he was there. He said he didn't know my fence was damaged. I showed him the damage and he said he would fix it. After several calls to him he said he could not find the fence rail to fix it. He said that if he had to he would make one. I never heard from him again. His workers were very careless in letting the logs drop up against my fence when they were being cut resulting in bending portions of the wire fencing that was attached to the wooden rails. I paid him after the work was done, which was a mistake because he promised me he would fix the fence and never did.

We contracted Greg's Tree Service (a couple years ago) at an agreed upon price of $1,000. We felt the price was very reasonable and a couple days later he brought out a crew of 3 men to do the work. He asked my husband if we could pay him up front because his wife was going out of town that day and needed the cash. He assured us the job would be finished that day. After he got the check he left and the crew started to work. A couple hours later, one of his men had something fly into his eye and all three had to leave to get it looked at. We were assured they would be back the next day to finish. As you can guess, no one ever came back. Greg either would tell us "I'm sorry! I thought that job was finished. I'll have a crew up to your house tomorrow" or would ignore our messages. After a year had passed, Greg very sarcastically suggested we sue him.
