On 1/24/2011 we received a detailed proposal from Absolute Construction to finish out our basement according to our wishes for a total of $6250.00 with payment schedules dependent upon completion of work. The first payment was for $3125.00 and once he finished the drywall and paint he was supposed to receive a second payment of $1550 with the final payment of $1575.00 upon completion of all work. We wrote a check for the first payment. A couple of days later Chris (the owner) showed up and painted the sealer on the basement walls. About a week later he brought in some supplies (2 x 4 lumber and insulation). He stacked it in the basement then disappeared for about 3 weeks. We tried to get hold of him for several days. Finally he returned our calls and said he had been out of town on a family emergency. He came in and did the framing for the closet. We didn’t hear from him for several days, so we called and he returned our calls several days later saying he had been sick and that he had been trying to finish another job before working on ours. He finally showed up and started framing the basement but mentioned how difficult it was to do by himself and he was trying to find a helper. We didn’t hear from him for a couple of weeks. He finally told us he had been trying to find a helper and had found one. 2 weeks before Easter, Chris showed up with another man and they continued to do the framing. They worked most of the day. Two days later they came back and worked a few hours. He said he needed to finish another job, but it was almost done and he could get back to ours soon. We didn’t hear from him for a few days, then he asked if he could come back and work on it Easter weekend. We said yes, that would be okay. We were anxious to see some progress and get what was agreed upon for our first payment, but we never heard from him again. We have left numerous voicemails and attempts to leave voicemails (mailbox full many times) in the months since. All we got for our $3125 was a few walls framed out and he has just seemed to have vanished! Will will now have to start the process over with someone else.
Description of Work: Chris, the owner, framed the walls in the basement but that was all of the basement he finished, and we haven't been able to reach him for months now.
