I offered him a flat fee of $20K to do the job and I would buy all materials. The contractor was very unresponsive, would come one day and then gone for 2-3 weeks at a time. In addition, when they would show up, they might work for 3 hours and be gone again. Things came up missing, they also helped themselves to my TOOLs and broke many of them without me knowing until I would find them broken hidden throughout my garage. His brother, Rodney Cooper said he would be doing the plumbing, well trust me, it was nearly all done incorrectly. The last 8 ft of the room was a bathroom, utility room and closet. He tried to get buy with plumbing the utility room water facilities through the floor with no drain. It should be built back in the wall and all plumbed to one box and was not. The bathroom is another mess, the commode sticks out about 10 inches from the wall, there is not ample plumbing or venting in the bathroom either. The plumbing at the tub is horrible and totally done incorrectly. There was to be a deck off the room and instead of putting the support beams in concrete, they set a small cinder block in dirt and tried to support it on there. When I saw what they were doing, I told them it must be changed and corrected; they never made any changes to the deck/support. They also left the deck with no boards nailed down, just sitting on top of the frame. They failed to waterproof outside with black around the cinder blocks and also no plastic. The trash was left behind my home and scattered throughout the yard and I had to pick up piece by piece and take it to the dump, where it cost me more money. This was their responsibility. My entire yard is a mess, both front and back, due to the materials being left in both areas. They kept telling me they had to have $ for one reason or another. They finally chose not to return after I had paid them over $18K and the payments were over the work they had done. I am now trying to find someone to finish their work. I would normally never talk bad about them, but they really left me with a horrible mess. I would never recommend either of these men; Charlie or Rodney Cooper. Charlie's contractor license is WV039929. They are from the Branchland/Hamlin WV area and do work throughout this area.
