We are very pleased. Thank you Thomas builders.
Description of Work: We needed a new roof on our home. Jim Thomas talked to us about what he could do and what would be best for our home. We live on the mountain with many trees. We decided to go with the metal roof. We chose red. It is beautiful. The guys did great job. They even cleaned up around the house. We are so happy. The guys were punctual, respectful, hard workers And Jim gave us very good deal. He even put new cellar doors on. Great job.

So I'm not sure what the other customers problem was with Jim and his crew? I picked Jim to replace my existing shingle roof with a metal roof from three other contractors that where interviewed. We choose Jim because he was a local contractor and small business, he was the lowest bidder but in my experience that is not always the one to go with. He reviewed our requirements for the roof, met with us at the home and together we revised our requirements based on the input from his experience. He quoted a price and a job time line, we signed a contract with him and work begin the next business day. He always showed up at the times he said he'd be at the job, used the contracted grade of materials, informed us of potential problems along the way, cleaned up the job site daily and finished on time/within budget......... You can't really ask for more! His crew was polite and just as prompt as him; they are not afraid of being nice to the customers and talking the time to talk to you. They also fixed a couple of minor things around the house outside of their scope of work at no cost to me. Bottom line: He is a local guy building a company and solid name for himself. He did the job that was contracted and it was done well! Support your local economy, hire local contractors like Jim.
Description of Work: Shingle roof tear-off, metal roof replacement.

It was a night mare. When the workers showed up at almost noon on the first day they came without materials. So therefore one of them which was the lead man had to leave to go to home depot for what they would need. Then they started putting everything back with the existing wood that was there. We were told by Jim and the contract that was going to be torn down and rebuilt. So they preceded on to working on the soffit and I noticed that they were not removing the damaged wood from the rest of the soffit. They just covered that up with the new vented sofft that JIm said we needed. When I text Jim and told him I was unhappy with the work he stop speaking to me and brought in a third party that had nothing to do with the job. Really nice guy, and I could tell that he was uncomfortable in the position that he was put in. Jim had refuse to talk to me since i told him I was unhappy with the work. I have turned this business in the the Attorney Generals office. He told us he was a honest person and that all the other companys make his job harder. I think that is the other was around. Make sure that anything he tells you is in righting and make sure the contract reflects everything he tells you. By this I mean everything word for word. If you are unhappy with the work and tell Jim this he will advise you to speak with his lawyer. I have dealt with alot of companys for various things and by far this is the worst company so far. Once the railing on the deck were done the workers told me they were done with the project. I ask them about the soffit that was crooked and I was told that they would have to have more money and a structual engineer would have to be brought in. I was so stressed by this point i wanted to just cry. I have to say I drank a bottle of maalox during the whole process. I found this company on Home Advisor so of course I wrote a reveiw on my experience with this company and JIm appealed it and said that I did not have a permit for the work. If this is the case then why did he even start the job. All I can assume is he thought I would not check his work and no one would be the wiser. I had no choice but to do the work myself because I did not want to relive that nightmare any time soon so i did it my self and now my soffit is straight and I have my guttering back up.I can not stress enough to get everything that Jim tells you in writing because he will use that against you as soon as you say that you do not like the work. Once I seen what the problem was with all the broken wood being shoved up in the rafters I knew that was why they could not line up everything. I contacted the third party that Jim sent out to deal with his mess and sent him pictures of the problem and the finished work. He said I did a amazing job. I wish i would have done it myself in the first place. It was a terrible experience that no homeowner should have to go through.
Description of Work: the provider was suppose to come and tear out all damaged wood from storm damage on my deck and soffit. They instead covered it all up with the new soffit and my house was crooked afterwards. they also put the railing on my deck back up and that look good.
