West Bend Glass Block

I wasnt able to get the services completed because they werent able to do what I needed to habe done. He was very nice about it and even recommended another company who could help. He was very honest.

After receiving a recommendation to replace our 4 basement windows (the wood frames were rotting) with glass block windows, I researched several different companies using Angie's List. I came across West Bend Glass Block and saw that they had an offer available that for $149 you would receive $300 credit towards the glass block windows. I called to get a quote from West Bend and confirmed the offer was legitimate (which it was). So after receiving a very reasonable quote, I proceeded to purchase the offer through Angie's List and the $300 was deducted from the amount I owed. The price was now better than the other quotes I received. As far as the scheduling and installation, everything went very smoothly. The installation was scheduled to begin at 8:30 in the morning and Andy and another gentleman showed up right on time. They were both very friendly and took time to answer any questions I had. The job was completed before noon and Andy took me around to do an inspection with him. The windows look great and I am very happy with the results. One of the windows has a dryer vent and two of the other three have regular vents. In summary, I would highly recommend West Bend Glass Block to anyone considering glass block windows. With the Angie's List discount the price was great, the installation went smoothly, and the results are exceptional. Thanks Andy!

As always everything went great. They were on time and professional. Both windows were installed in one day. Afterwards they cleaned up their mess and disposed of the old windows. This was the second time we had windows installed by West Bend Glass Block. The replaced our basement windows two years ago. Based on that experience when we wanted to replace the bathroom and garage window there was only one company we called...West Bend Glass Block.

Andy from West Bend Glass Block contacted us within a day of us purchasing the Big Deal. He came out to discuss what we had in mind and provided an estimate within a couple of days. We subsequently talked with Renewal by Andersen about purchasing some more gliding windows from them (they installed several for us last year) and discovered that they also install glass block. (I believe they have someone else make the block windows for them. ) Moreover, they would install the glass block with aluminum trim that would match our existing Andersen windows. We got a quote from Andersen which was in the same ballpark as Andy's quote, so we decided to have them do our glass block rather than Andy so that the window trim would match what we already had.

Everything went as he said it would. Could not be happier.

They called and schedule the time and showed up on when they said they gonna showed up. We've been lucky with them.

. Bought a deal on Angie,s List. The work was performed as promised, on time and for a reasonable cost. Windows were fit and mortared into the foundation in the basement and into the brick exterior for the bathroom, requiring no finished trim, which works here, in a rental property with no finished basement. And I am happy with the work. I am tiling the tub surround and around the window frame, butting the tile to the glass block. Cannot comment on any finishing or installation other than mortaring.

The guys came out on a very chilly day, prompt and did a great job. Brightens up the laundry area of the basement and nice access for venting.

We contacted them the week of 8/11/2013. We scheduled an estimate which was done on 8/16. Andrew arrived on time and was able to give us a quote that day. On 8/19, we called him and scheduled the job for 8/23. They arrived on time and got the job done in about 2 hours. The windows look great. We are very pleased with the job they did.

I have had glass block windows placed by other providers and simply just preferred their work. They were also more expensive by about 150 dollars.

They were excellent and I had a good value for what we got. They were good with communicating and keeping us up-to-date on the schedule date. Everything was done as promised.

Overall good experience. They came out, measured for the windows, setup a time to install, installed, and double checked work.

West Bend Glass Block were very professional, they were timely, they were considerate when they were in my home, they did excellent work, and went above and beyond just the windows. There was a very old piece of siding that was cracked which they fixed gluing it back for me. I will be calling West Bend Glass Block for more service.

Both service providers that I dealt with for the estimate and installation were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The company provides a variety of glass block designs and patterns to fit just about any typical window size. The service providers suggested what they would likely choose, but let us make our own decision. (We went with their recommendation and were very pleased.) Our neighbors commented on how nice it looked from their side. The one thing I wish I had been clearer on was how much narrower the glass block window is compared to the wooden "sill" that was removed. Because we were also in the process of finishing that part of the basement, we told the company to just install the windows and we'd figure out the rest. Well, I never imagined the huge gap we would need to deal with - nor did my son who was putting up the drywall. I'm sure the service providers must have explained that, but not having any experience with glass block before, I didn't picture what a challenge we would be left with. My son was able to finish off one of the windows beautifully, but one is still a little rough.

This company would get an A++ from me if I could have rated them that high. Very professional. Arrived on time. Cleaned up after job was completed. I couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend this company.

The workman arrived a bit earlier than expected. He went right to work, being careful not to track dirt from his shoes through my living room. He did the work specified, to replace 2 basement window with glass block in a minimum of time. He showed me where modifications were required due to the age of my home. He cleaned up after himself.

Arrived on time and cleaned up afterward. The windows look GREAT, provide lots of light and are a beautiful improvement for our basement.

When they came to do the initial estimate, they thought one of the three windows was going to need a hole for a vent. So they came with that in mind, but I told them that we did not want the vent hole and they said that it would be better to reschedule, since they would not be able to do that window and we thought it would be best to do all the windows at once and not using 2 separate trips. So they graciously rescheduled the appointment for later. Then when they came on the new appointment date, they were there on time and did a very good job. Completed the install of all 3 windows in one morning.

Overall I was happy with the results. They came and put in the windows. However, after lookiing at the fine print - they don't really clean up and will not attach alarm system back. However, i liked the looks and quality. I still need to have someone to come in and "finish" the trim around the inside as there are gaps where the old windows where and I was not expecting that. Also, I had to spend about an hour cleaning up and picking up all the dust and pieces that was located all over the basement.

The two man team arrived on time. Within 2 hours they replaced all four windows in the basement. They cleaned all debris from the basement and took away the old windows. Very satisfied with their work and the new windows.

Work performed well but I am disturbed by lack of attention to procuring a required permit (I got the permit and I think any construction company should have been aware of the village requirements), cancellation of installation initially because West Bend not ready, and it would have been cheaper to go directly to another vendor in total, so never got any BIG DEAL as West Bend Glass Block's cost was $150 more than competitor figuring in the cost of the permit ($300 figuring in that I never got any Big Deal Savings Discount). In the future I know that to determine if the marketed Deal is truly a deal, I need to get other quotes before I buy Angie's List Big Deals. Its not enough to just know the company's rating. Just because the vendor says there is a discount or that you are getting a reduction in price, it doesn't necessarily seem to be so.
