The Wards were incredibly helpful to us in our hour of need. A refrigerator ice maker failed flooding our kitchen and lower level. After a few months of being without a kitchen, due to insurance company hassles, and trouble finding a contractor, the Wards stepped up and worked us into another job. They were very helpful during the process and produced repairs and upgrades that we continue to enjoy.

Our decision to work with Ward Kitchen and Bath to remodel our kitchen was a good one. Kim Ward helped us select color, style, design and layout while keeping cost down. She was always available for questions that came up during our project, because of her experience we ended up with a beautiful kitchen within our budget. Gregg Ward did an outstanding job of installing the cabinets and his attention to detail was exceptional. We would hire them again on other remodeling projects.

After our original contractor canceled the day before he was to install our access door from the garage to our backyard, I called Greg to see if he had time to install it for us. We scheduled it for two weeks later and it was installed promptly & correctly. He also installed an outlet in our laundry room. He was professional & cleaned up so well we barely knew he was in our home. I will definitely use him again in the future & have already passed his name along to a friend of ours. Thanks Greg!

The Ward's are excellent kitchen designers and re-modelers. They listened closely to our likes, dislikes, and needs for a new kitchen and designed a space that fits our house and personality. They honored our budget needs while providing quality material. The workmanship is solid and Greg is exceptionally strong at tiling and laying ceramic floors. The new layout created by Kim makes the kitchen feel larger. The work is beautiful and we are delighted with the final outcome. We would definitely seek their help in the future.
Description of Work: Full kitchen remodel including redesigning the cabinetry and counter layout, new lighting, plumbing, and granite counter tops.
It went well. The end product was everything I was hoping for and more! This is the second bathroom project they have completed for us. We would definitely work with them again in the future.
Description of Work: Master bath remodel, complete gut job with entirely new floor plan. We took out the jet tub, moved the toilet, put in a beautiful stand up shower and a double vanity. Turned out very nice.

I purchased the vanity, wall cabinet, mirror, faucets (sink and shower), most of the tile for the shower surround and backsplash, light/fan/nightlight, . I did not have the floor re-tiled as the floor was in okay condition. I got the feeling that my bathroom was worked on in between the contractors other jobs. The original start date was August 3, 2015 and the end of the project was in October sometime. The tile person that the contractor used did a professional job on the shower surround but a terrible job on the backsplash. The grout was missing and obviously thin. The vanity top I agreed to use was finished on three sides. I did not realize that the edge that would be next to the wall would be hidden by the backsplash being built up at the bottom to hide it. The angle was obvious and looked like a mistake. The mirror, instead of being mounted flush on the wall, was partially over the backsplash. The low mirror prevented you from using the faucet stopper. The shower rod was mounted so low that my daughter stood in the tub, she could look over the rod. The paint job was adequate. No nail holes were filled or even light sanding included in the price. There are still small holes here and there on the walls. But the $4999 bathroom did not include any extras. The old fan in the bathroom was mounted on the wall. I purchased a new one for the ceiling that had a light and nightlight. The electrician only hooked up the fan. It's rather inane to assume that I would pay extra for a light and nightlight but only want the fan to work. I had to ask the contractor to have the electrician come back and complete the job. Two visits from the electrician costs more than one. I made a list of the corrections that needed to be made. The contractor came out and repaired/made changes. All was finally completed. I assumed I would be contacted about the fan hookup, and the faucet and the other off installations instead of having weirdness done. I had to see the incorrect work and request the changes. I didn't think I had to make very exacting requests for satisfactory work. I'm not a professional but I know when something looks wrong. This bathroom refinish was done in Wisconsin, I live in the Chicago area. I was not able to check on the work as it was done. The bathroom looks fine but I do plan on repainting. The tile looks good, the mirror correctly positioned so the faucet stopper can be used, the fan/light/nightlight works, the backsplash angle removed and vanity top edge neatly hidden.
Description of Work: The vanity, mirror, sink, vanity top, toilet, tub, shower surround, faucet, shower faucet and ventilation fan were replaced.

Response from Ward Kitchen & Bath
Hi [Member Name Removed] I just wanted to respond to a few of the items you mentioned. We did have to start another job while we where working on yours. We had several delays beyond our control. The water shut off for your unit was frozen and took me several days to get resolved. I was in contact with the building supervisor to shut the whole building down 8 units of unhappy people. I ended up going to the building several times and spraying oil in the valve and finally got it to work. That costed days of delay. Also the building inspector took almost 2 weeks to get back to me about an inspection. Turns out that the permit should have been commercial not residential do to the fact it was an 8 family. The deal you purchased was not for commercial work but we waived that. The deal was for residential work only which is 1 or 2 family dwellings. We never actually saw the bathroom before you purchased the Big Deal. By the time we did see the job it was past the 30 day refund period, I did not ask the question how many units where in the building when we spoke about the job. The Big Deal was for a basic bathroom remodel. It did not include permits, painting, mosaic tile in shower or sink backslash, extra cabinet mounting, grab bars in shower, moving of electrical, patching walls, stuck shut off valves and tile baseboards. We gave you credit for the floor to cover a few of these items. The majority of the extras you where never charged labor on we absorbed the cost. It was very clear to us not having met you or seeing the job prior to you purchasing the big deal that your exceptions for your bathroom where beyond what the Big Deal covered. However rather than risk you being unhappy we proceeded with the job. The tile for the backslash was only noticeable because the wall was out of square. The grout was thin behind the faucet which made it difficult to be even. We now tile and grout before we install the faucet. The mirror and shower rod where adjusted to meet your specializations. Typically we ask the customer where they would like them mounted but since you don't live at the job location we used our best judgement based on where we have mounted them on past jobs. Painting was not included in the deal. We went ahead and took care of it no charge because of the job delays. The fan was moved and we used the existing wiring. We made the fan and light work together. We do that often when the existing wires only accommodate. I had the electrician go back and fish new lines to accommodate your new fan. I did not charge you for that. Sorry for the delays and miscommunications.

Greg showed up on time and did a great job in a timely fashion. He also was happy to spend a little time talking to me about a couple of other potential projects as well as some general maintenance / repair questions I had. I would recommend using him and have just reached out to him about getting an estimate for some basement remodeling.

Greg was prompt and efficient. He had some sealant in his truck for the new granite top and took it upon himself to apply that for me. My bathroom looks great!
Description of Work: Greg and helper tore out old sink and vanity and installed a new vanity, countertop, sink, light, mirror, towel bars, tp holder and glass shelf. Everything was done to my satisfaction. The old vanity and sink were hauled away. I will be hiring Greg to install new countertops in my kitchen.

We liked them a lot. They were very professional, thorough, and punctual. We were looking to get a quote to remodel our 1st floor very small bathroom. The bathroom is under 5'x7', and we are doing all the demo ourselves as well as supplying all the fixtures (shower, toilet, vanity, lights, etc). We received 3 quotes from 3 different companies all with A grades on Angie's List. Their quote was $10,000.00 more than one of the quotes and $8,400.00 more than the other. That was disappointing, because again, we really liked them.

Would have preferred original choice of light fixture. Was told it was too wide for cabinet. Needed to choose something else. I've gotten used to second choice, but still would have preferred original choice. Other than that, everything went well. Bathroom looks good, work done well.

Greg and Kim were fantastic. I needed a rush job because our house is going up for sale in a few weeks. They got to work immediately ordering everything we needed and pulling strings to get it all in on time. The work was top-notch, and our bathroom turned out more beautiful than I ever imagined was possible. They are friendly and helpful, and I give them my highest recommendation.

The provider made contact within a day or two of placing the order and we scheduled a time for a home visit to look at our kitchen and understand our ideas and goals. Kim was great to deal with in person and took all necessary measurements and listened to our goals and ideas for our kitchen space. We parted company expecting to hear from her in a week or two at the latest. We waited over two weeks to hear back from Kim but never did until we reached out to her only to learn the design project was difficult to lay out and costly. Why she didn't take the initiative to tell us is lost on us. We did eventually get the 3D renderings completed and a cost estimate of the kitchen remodel but it left out a lot of what we actually wanted to see in the design. It was not a bad experience but not a great one that would make us want to use their services to perform the remodel.

Husband & wife team works well together, one with design, one with hands-on skills. They communicated easily by emails. Before the emailed quote, their computer broke down, so there was a delay longer than a week - no big deal, but they offered another discount to apologize for the inconvenience if hired. I only wanted the ideas for now, as I had no budget for the cost. They were fine with that, no pressure, and provided me a detailed quote & computer rendering. This gave me a new perspective and was encouraging in being a lower cost than I imagined - $12,275 for some cabinets & countertops, installing microwave, re-wiring, re-plumbing, removing wall to make snack bar, converting doorway into wall, adding another door in adjoining room... a lot of work for less than I've heard others quote. I very much appreciated the line-item quote instead of just a bottom line and a generous discount was standard. I would recommend them because of the carpenter's background and well-communicated knowledge about my particular style of home. Only one glitch, the design included converting a wall to snack bar, but at the carpenter's visit, that part was deemed impractical (load-bearing?).
Description of Work: Recommended design changes to kitchen based on my needs and provided detailed written quote plus computer rendering drawing.
