SHOREWEST REAL ESTATE INST

We had a lot of problems with them. I don’t think the agent was honest. The agent had dropped the price and off a lot and I was not really in agreement with that but it was my mother’s condo and her decision. She is 84 years old, she is a little naive and trusting when she shouldn’t be. I think she was taken advantage off. The agent made an offer and she did accept the offer. They got a home inspection done. This guy was making stuff up. When we got the information from the Shorewest realtor with all verbal stuff over the phone, my mother went into a panic and so I got involved and I insisted getting something in writing. Eventually we got something in writing and it turned out that some of the claims were bogus. This realtor was telling my mother she had to pay an extra $10,000 or something to make some repair and roofing corrections and a lot of them was just crop. She lives in a condo where the association takes care of all the all the outside like roof and so on. The guy claims that the roof was leaking, there was a mould in the roof and we had to go back and forth. Then the realtor claimed the electrical system was bad and it has a wrong size panel in the basement. I actually got a friend of mine that had to go down and look at it and said there is nothing wrong with it. Still the realtor insisted that it was bad. Eventually she brought her own electrician in, asked me to show up while he was there and said “I can’t find anything wrong with this.” But she was really working against my mother and that is the way I see it. My mother is a nice old woman but she is not that sharp. I think she was played. She lost a lot of money because of it but she is still happy. She thinks everything was fine. Unfortunately, I know better. They had a list of claims that where wrong and we were able to prove that they were wrong about them. There was one thing, the patio was sinking but that was obvious. He walked on the patio and I could tell he was faking. He wanted money for that, even though everybody knew why he was there to begin with. When they did the inspection report, they came back and said all the things that were wrong and they had to drop the price and making the corrections. What they were doing was trying to course us into bringing the price down. In my opinion, the realtor wasn’t in my mother’s side. She brought in the other people that were not working with another realtor. They were working with the same realtor as my mother that put us in a real bad situation because the realtors were working for both sides and they chose one. Unfortunately, my mother was not the side they chose. My mother is in a point where she shouldn’t be handling her own affairs but she is still in charge. If I have been in charge, I would have filed a complaint and taking it further but it’s hard to do because she liked the realtor. It becomes an argument between us, not just me and the realtor. It’s a bad situation and it cost us some money but that’s the way it goes. It surely was unethical. Their pricing was high. My mother picked a bad timing to sell and pick the woman from Shorewest. She dropped the price and then we started to act on it. We got a lot of action because it was underpriced. The realtor will do anything to sell the price even if it will cost the customer. They were pretty good on punctuality. They were working but they were working for themselves. They’re doing their job but it is clearly not for our benefit. I would never use Shorewest. If anybody asks me about them, I would tell them, stay away from Shorewest. In fact, years ago, they had developed a real bad reputation and they actually had to change their name and it sounds they are doing the same crop and changed their name to fool everybody.

I didn’t spend anything last time. They are wonderful.
