Prompt, prepped area around trap, cleaned up after work was done

We have a rental. It's a small ranch home on a slab. No basement. The sewer began backing up. I called Roto-Rooter. The tech came and said he'd need to take the toilet off in order to use his equiment and clear the pipes. He said he used 60 ft of pipe and couldn't fix the blockage. He said he needed to and quot;bring in his supervisorand quot; and scope it. They did (or so they said) and said the problem was in the street. Not on our property. We had to call the city. I called the city. The city worker told me I had to call in a secondary plumbing company. He went on to say that, if what Roto-Rooter told me was correct, the city would pick up the cost of the secondary plumbing company and they'd then commence to digging up the pipes in the street. The secondary plumbing company representative came and -- within 20 minutes-- diagnosed AND fixed the problem. It was a clean-out that was blocked. It was in our front yard, 4 feet from the house. This representative said and quot;I've seen this before. Also, when I see a house that's on a slab, and there's a blockage, I walk around the house until I find the clean-out trap. 90% of the time, that's the culprit.and quot;I called Roto-Rooter. I explained what the city told me and that the secondary company was able to fix the problem in 20 mins. They did not want to credit us a dime. I said and quot;...but your technician missed something that 1) was only 4 ft from the house and 2) was such an easy fix that it only took the other company 20 mins to fix.and quot; I also wondered why they needed to put 60 ft of line into the pipes when the house is only 30 ft from the street AND the blockage was 4 ft from the house. That seemed odd.In the end, Roto-Rooter credited us $125. After paying the secondary company $150, the total paid to get the sewer fixed was $375. Can you imagine if the city had torn up the street only to find that the problem was this little old clean out?! That would have cost us tax payers thousands of dollars!Never will I ever call Roto-Rooter again!

They came in and ran the equipment through. They did it quickly. They cleaned up after themselves well. They did a good job. They put down material to keep the drains from clogging in the future. They put things down so that they didn't track through the house. They were very clean. They did everything, so that we didn't have to do it. I would use them again in the future.

They are the best. They cleaned up the basement without leaving a mess behind. They got right to work and did a great job.

Called about 8:30 am because my kitchen sink was not draining properly and to to have sewer lines cleaned as a preventative measure. They asked when was convenient for me and Mike P. was at my house by 10:15am ! My kitchen sink line had a heavy, disgusting build - up and a ton of roots were pulled from the sewer lines. Mike was very efficient , friendly and NEAT! My previous sewer cleaners made a mess so I really appreciated Mike's extra care.

The service man was very polite and explained everything and the cost prior to starting work. The following day it was apparent that one of the bathroom sink connections was not tight enough and he came back - without charge.

They did a good job and I will continue to use their services in future.

They are very competent and do a good job. They are good in their work. They are a little expensive but they had to clean three different areas given the situation and that is double the price.

Roto Rooter came out and clear the main plumbing drain for me. Bathtub was clogged. Pulled out a ton of Junk!

He was on time, very personable and very helpful. I was having some toilet issues while he was doing the drain cleaning, he explained to me how that worked. I appreciated that information.

I found them on Angie's List. We had used them before, and we didn't have problems with them. They came exactly when they said they would. They did the work to our satisfaction. They left and did a decent job. They are very prompt and local. We are completely pleased with their work.

Everything was great - called them, they understood what I needed and sent out an experienced service guy.

I had water backing up in 2 rooms of my basement. Roto Rooter came the next day and cleared out the drain. It was most likely tree roots and I was told this will probably be a recurring problem. I do not know if the price was good or not but the service was prompt. I would have been REALLY impressed if the man had cleaned up around my drain a little, but I DO know this is above and beyond their job description.

They cleaned up a pretty nasty mess. They were very quick to come out.

After about an hour, he put the snake down and you could hear the water rush down, solving the problem. Came within several hours after calling. Very efficient and just can’t say enough about him! If I have any more problems with the drain, I will definitely call them again. They were recommended by my daughter who used them years ago.

It was a completely adequate experience. They came within 15 hours of my phone call, did the job, guarantee it for 30 days, charged about what I expected.

We have an older home, so I was worried about the pipes being accessible to the equipment. The technician worked in a professional manner to ease the caps open and was able to power snake the pipe. This saved time and we only had to pay the service charge. Great job.

I called Roto-Rooter to clear a clogged sewer drain under the toilet. Rich was the name of the guy they sent. When Rich came to the door, he was especially dirty, sweaty and smelly. I've had several plumbers over for work over the years, and haven't seen anyone that dirty. For the most part, Rich also had an attitude that conveyed he didn't want to be here and that he had something against me personally from the moment he got out of his truck. He didn't even introduce himself. We started by walking the yard to try to locate an access point (clean-out) to the drain. Meanwhile, he rattled off costs... the first hour is $185, additional hours are $85, if he removes and reinstalls the toilet that's $85, if he video scopes the pipes that's $325, etc. That should've been something the office told me, but oh well. It was also strange how he said it. He wasn't trying to be gentle about giving me the "bad news." Instead he was blunt and crass about it, giving me a take-it-or-leave-it ultimatum. Eventually, we went in the house. We couldn't find a clean-out, so Rich decided the best way to clean the drain would be through the floor drain under the toilet. I was prepared for that possibility, and was going to have the toilet off before he got there, but I had trouble getting the supply hose off. Otherwise, it was completely drained, unscrewed from the floor and ready to go. Within literally 2 seconds, Rich popped off the supply hose and pulled the toilet off to the side on a mat that I provided (because he didn't bring one in with him). Rich brought in his sewer cleaning tools and augers, but did not bring in any drop cloths to cover the floor. Fortunately, I lined the walls and surrounding cabinets with plastic before he got there, but he said that it would not get dirty on our tile floors. As he worked, sewage DID get on the floor, as I thought it would. Finally, Rich couldn't get the auger to find the right underground pipe for the clog, so he decided to take the machine to the roof vent at the top of the drain stack. He borrowed my ladder and extension cord and went on the roof. He asked me to watch down the floor drain in the bathroom to see if the water drained. Eventually, thankfully, it did. The clog was cleared. Unfortunately, because he was going through the roof vent, the auger he was using was unable to get all the way to the street, like they would normally do for a sewer cleaning like this. It was only able to get below the house to a certain point. Rich came in and started working on putting back the toilet. He borrowed my tools to do the work. Ultimately, when he finished setting it, it was wobbly. He pulled it off after having put water in it, and water spilled on the floor. He used one of my nice towels to wipe it up. Keep in mind, there was still sewage on the tiles. He set it on a magazine to keep the floor from getting wax on it, but the magazine got wet and sticky and was sticking to the bottom of the toilet. Rich noticed that the collar the toilet sits on was damaged and loose, but he didn't have the equipment or know-how to fix it. I told him I'd get a plumber in to fix it but he still went ahead and tried seating the toilet again anyway. He put the toilet down, with pieces of the wet magazine stuck to it and tightened it down. It still had wobble to it, because the collar it was sitting on was loose. Before he left, Rich borrowed my mop and bucket and mopped around the sewage. He just did a cursory job. It would never be something I'd want my children crawling around. And my tools were left dirty... with grime and toilet wax stuck to them. The worst part, was that he charged for the toilet removal/install! The toilet was practically off when he got there, and I had to call another plumber to fix it when he left, yet he still charged the extra fee. Plus, he didn't need to remove the toilet in the first place to clear the drain, as that was done through the roof. And to top it off, he charged for an extra half-hour's work... the time it took him to work on the toilet. So, in total, the toilet removal/install cost $127.50... all for nothing. I called and complained, although I was intentionally very polite and patient with them despite them being somewhat terse with me. They said they made a mistake on charging for the extra half hour, so that would be refunded. But they wouldn't refund the toilet fee. So the refund wasn't for making a concession to an unsatisfied customer... it was simply a correction to yet another mistake on their part. They said if I wanted anything more than that, I'd have to take them to court. Do not use Roto-Rooter if you can avoid them! They have fees for everything, their prices are high to begin with, and they are interested in quantity, not quality.

Everything went well. Drains currently operating perfectly.

Roto-Rooter came-out and the gentleman said he couldn't do the job because I didn't have proper access for him. He recommended a plumber to use before he could come back-out to fully do the job. For their return trip, he said that he would come-out for a reduced fee if i had the plumbing guy come-out within five days. They gave me the run around. I was very unhappy with their company. I would not use them again in the future. When they came back out after I complained, they gave me a different story as to why they couldn't do the job. We got a much lower estimate from a different company.

They came on time but they left a small mess behind. Their price was reasonable and they came on time.

Technician was punctual and polite. He tried plunging and snaking floor drain. He was not sure if he actually got the clog but the drain performed much better than before. I asked that he run a camera down the drain but he explained that was an additional cost so I chose not to do it. He did leave a bit of a mess on the basement floor. Was about $150 more than I expected to pay. Overall I am satisfied with the job performed.

Came within time quoted. Found problem, ran line to street twice.
