Overall they did a great job, there was some minor damage to gutter downspouts and one window screen, but Ridge Top made it right by negotiating down the price to cover the cost of repairs/ replacement of gutter and window screen. In there defense it was very windy the day they came out. They tore off and installed new in one day! They also installed 3 new chimney caps free of charge for me, I would use these guys again!

I received an immediate response to an email request for information, and was introduced to Luke. Luke came over to my home, provided an estimate, and did the work himself. Although there were a few rain day delays, the work was done quickly and thoroughly. Luke took before and after photos for me, and promised me that my roof won't leak any more. Luke stopped by personally several times. I would definitely use them again. I talked with him about needing soffits, and he was giving me information about what would be involved with that.

This started out as an Angie's List special deal, so we paid for it in advance. The deal was for roof repairs, but it turned out we needed a new roof, so the $199.00 was applied toward the overall cost of the project. A representative came out and looked at the job. He said he would mail me an estimate, but after two weeks I did not receive anything, so I contacted the company. They said they had apparently mailed the estimate without sufficient postage, and it had come back to them. But they did not resend it until after I called. The company rep came out again to our home, and we specified what we wanted in terms of material and color. He also offered to put a zinc strip on the roof to help avoid mildew and moss. We set up a date for the job to be done, but when the day arrived, it was supposed to rain, so they called us that morning to say they wouldn't be coming. It was a Friday. I said, "So you'll be coming on Monday?" They said, "No. It will be a week or two." When I asked why, the response was that someone else was they had another job scheduled on Monday. I asked why they didn't just push everything back a day, and they replied that it doesn't work that way. They did come a week or two later, and the workers did a very good job replacing the roof itself. And the aluminum facia and soffit were well done. However, they put on the wrong color on the drip sheet or whatever it's called. We wanted black to match the facia and soffit, and for some reason they put on white. It looked awful. They also did not put on the zinc strip and said they knew nothing about it. We contacted the company, and they apologized for the mistakes. A week or so later a rep came out and put on the zinc strip, but no one came to change the drip thing. They said it would be another week or so. We finally set a date, a Friday, but again the forecast called for rain, so they called early in the morning to say they wouldn't do it that day. We set the following Tuesday (though they later said they had never agreed to a set day) for the work to be completed. That Tuesday, we again received a call, this time saying that one of their workers did not show up for work, so again they weren't coming. They weren't sure when they would get someone out to finally do the job right. I got pretty angry and mentioned that if I ran my business the way they were running theirs, I would not stay in business for long, I also said that if I mess something up with a client/customer, I make sure I take care of it as soon as possible. Lo and behold, workers showed up late that afternoon and completed the job. They did a much better job on the drip thing the second time, and at least they got the right color. I understand that sometimes set dates can be influenced by weather, and I also realize that mistakes can and do happen. But it took the company weeks to rectify their mistakes, and it would have taken even longer had I not expressed how upset I was. The bottom line is that was a struggle to get the job completed with numerous delays.

The gentleman that came out was very professional I like him a lot. He acknowledged our house was a 70’s house and was done a little differently than how they were being done now. He suggested we install a roof ridge. The people that did the work unfortunately did not do the roof ridge correctly and cut right into our cathedral ceiling which comes right into our loft when they cut through, it came all the way through. We agreed that they would patch it. It was not a big area and does not show. It does its job and vents that area. The roof looks really good. They were very organized. The workers were a good team. They cleaned up pretty well. We are very happy with them. I still feel that we can call them if we have issues. I would recommend them.

Ridge Top provided an estimate for a new roof and other work before we signed up for the Angie's List Big Deal. We purchased the Big Deal on the last day it was open to make sure we could get the Angie's List price. Since then, we have decided that we will probably use another contractor because of the greater selection of product colors they offer. Ridge Top was professional and gave us an attractive estimate, so we have no complaints with them.

The Angie's List Big Deal was for a 2,500 sq ft roof for a set price. We have a "normal" roof, but it turns out that it was larger than 2,500 sq ft. We paid the full amount of the original offer in December. We got a revised quote in April with a significantly higher cost per sq ft for the remaining footage. Despite a lot of attempted conversation on why this did not seem fair, the company was firm on the new quote. We paid the remaining balance. The roof was finally completed in July. It took one day to do the whole roof.

Ridge top roofs came our to see the roof and was unable to perform the work because the property was not suitable for the work and they offered me a refund. They were polite and prompt and I was satisfied with their customer service and scheduling and would use then again if I have work that can be done by them. This was my mistake for purchasing the deal that was not appropriate for the job.

Luke came to our house to review a complicated roof problem. He looked over the problem carefully. He left and consulted with some colleagues. He called back and told me that they were not right for the job-- if he wasn't 100% certain they could do it right, he did not want to take on a the project. He offered some suggestions regarding who to call and told me I could call him if I had questions. He was very helpful. We had another company look at the project and I do not think that they understood the scope of the problem. A third company that we are considering going with did agree to take on the project understanding the scope and some uncertainties. It will be very expensive so we are going to hire a roofing consultant prior to proceeding.

Overall, the roof looks great and done in a very short period of time. During the process of removing the entire roof, something must have occured with an attic electrical box as one of my hallway ceiling lights did not go on. Ridge top compensated me immediately for the minimal electrical assistance I needed to reconnect some attic wires. That was great customer service. The owner contacted me directly.

I contacted Ridgetop through Angies list, and Scott, the salesman was very prompt in returning my call. Within a day or so he came out and prepared an estimate. In the estimate folder were brochures for the materials along with copies of their insurance certificates. It was very professional. It took a few weeks after we signed the contract to get the work done, but the weather here was very rainy so that was not their fault. I did have to call the salesman about when it would get done, but he was very prompt at returning my calls and very nice. The date was set for a Sat, and the crew showed up at 8:00am. They laid tarps all around the house, and had started tearing off by 8:15am. The crew was very respectful, no loud music, or foul language and continued working and they were finished with the roof, cleaned up and gone by about 4:30pm. I have a dog, and was concerned about debris such as nails in the lawn, but they did an excellent job and the only thing we found was some of the old shingle on top of the window air conditioner that you could not see from walking on the ground around the house. Scott stopped by to check everything out when they were finishing up as well. At that time he said that the gutters should be done sometime the following week. The reason they get a B for punctuality is because the gutters were not done until 07/06/11, and I never got a call after the day the roof was done saying when exactly the gutter guys were coming. I just got home yesterday and noticed they were done. I have to say, all-in-all, I am very pleased with the work that was done and everyone involved with the job. We are hoping to do the siding next year, and will definitely start with them.

Rep was promptly responsive to all calls, this is partly why I chose Ridge Top. Job came in at quoted price. Clean up was good - they removed all debris inside attic and outside of house after job. They got the roofing portion done fast (1 day, 8 person crew). Several items needed to be corrected after. The issues were fixed at no additional charge and all complete 2 weeks from date roof was installed. I consider overall quality average/below average because if I had not brought up the items that needed to be corrected, Ridge Top would have considered the job done and done well enough. Fixes: Roofers needed to trim existing aluminum gables to install drip edge on gable ends, there were a lot of dings, dents, bends on gables when they were finished with roof. After I brought this to sales reps attn they installed new fascia at no additional charge. The downspouts on 2 dormers were not reinstalled correctly when roofers were done. After I brought this to sales reps attn it was fixed at no additional charge. There is a small portion of roof on 'bump out' part of house above kitchen, it has a small area of roof approx 3 ft x 10 ft. Roofers initially did not redeck this portion of roof, the workmanship on this section appeared to be poor, drip edges were not straight, & they reused the old flashing. After I brought this to sales rep's attn this portion of roof was redone at no additional charge with redecking and new flashing, and drip edges were reinstalled straighter. Additional Comments: Ridge Top subcontracted the job to Diaz Roofing of Edgerton WI. Trucks said Diaz, crew was all from Diaz, lawn sign said Ridge Top. The rep from Ridge Top was present a.m. and p.m.giving them directions & helping with clean up. I was not told ahead of time about subcontracting, did not think to ask. You can see from inside the attic that some of the existing roof boards in attic have holes and gaps after the tear off, roofers did not replace/repair the boards, they redecked with plywood over. I saw this after the fact. The rep from Ridge Top said it was not necessary to replace because they were not rotten. I would have preferred to be notified and given the option to have them replaced, would have paid for replacement of a couple extra boards. You can see from inside attic that several rows of long nails did not hit studs/rafters, ie couple of rows of nails are 2" to left or right of rafter boards, extend about 3" into attic. I mentioned to rep, he said 'they just need to hit anywhere on the roof', I would have preferred more care taken. Overall - there were areas where quality & craftsmanship appeared to be mediocre and not a lot of care was taken. Paid premium for average work.
Description of Work: Tear off - 3 layers ashphalt & shake. Redeck w/7/16" OSB. Recover roof w/30 yr asphalt shingles. 4 new vents. Reflash chimney. New gutters & downspouts along main roof on east & west side. Where new roof meets existing siding, filled in gap created by removing 3 layers with 1x2 wood capped with almond colored aluminum.

Josh was extremely professional & polite. He was scheduled to come by for an estimate at 5pm. He called at ~2pm & said he was running early, could he come by right away & was finished within 1/2 hour. We have dogs so he was always very patient with us taking time to move them out of his way, not disturbing the household. Josh called ahead to remind us they would be working. Called again to tell us that due to rain/snow!!! they would have to delay the work. Called the night before to confirm arrival of the crew at 7am. The crew arrived at 6:45am and immediately went to work like a bunch of ants. The crew had been informed (& was in agreement) that at ~noon the dogs would need to use the yard, and the area by the back door should be clear for our exit/entry. The roof was completed by noon. Upon the crew's departure, it was discovered that some damage had been done to our driveway. Josh made sure that the concrete was repaired to our satisfaction before our payment was made. If all contractors were so easy to work with, I wouldn't consider being a Do-It-Yourselfer!
