Overall, our assessment is one of disappointment. The team leader did a first class design job. His design improved the home's interior markedly and has received many compliments. The problems had to do with failing to construct cabinet depth in accordance with what they told us they would do, and with installation. Woodcraft was the lead contractor, but failed to play a strong leadership role among the other subs which had been hired to work plumbing, electrician, and appliance fit and installation. That Woodcraft failed to make cabinet depth sufficiently deep resulted in our refrigerator sticking out beyond spec. Woodcraft was to have coordinated this with Fergusons of Wausau and the Woodcraft team leader assured us the depth would be right. It was not. We suspect, but cannot prove, that he started to cut the cabinets before he understood fully the depth of the refrigerator. We believe he used the spec depth but failed to account for the wires and tubes that exit the rear of the refrigerator. In our opinion, this was a huge blunder. The installation was terrible. Extremely slow and done unprofessionally. The company had to send out others several times to repair the poor workmanship. Part of the design was to have a wonderful bar. Indeed the construction of the bar was first rate. But somewhere along the way, in short order, the joint connecting two sections of the bar pulled apart. A rep came out to fix it, and ruined that area of the bar. It was so bad that the man who built the bar tore it out, took it back to the factory, and refinished it. He did a good job. The final payment, which was sizable, was not to be made until the job was finished. However the contractor told me he was short on cash to pay his people and operate and asked me to pay the final payment prior to completion. I trusted him so I paid him. That was a huge mistake, as once they felt the job was complete, we found numerous problems highlighted above to which response time was very slow and unresponsive. INdeed the contractor had taken on a new, much larger project and we felt we were put on the bottom of the to do pile.
