OWNER-OPERATOR, USES SUBS FOR PAINTING, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, COST DETERMINED BY THE JOB, TRAVEL CHARGES MAY APPLY, NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR AFTER-HOURS SERVICE.
ORIGINAL CONTRACT STATED THAT WORK WOULD BE COMPLETED IN FOUR WEEKS FROM A JULY START TIME. WORK DID NOT START UNTIL OCTOBER 27, AND WE FIRED CONTRACTOR WITH ONLY 80% OF PROJECT COMPLETED ON DECEMBER 28. CONTRACTOR WAS FIRED FOR POOR PROFESSIONALISM, ALWAYS SHOWING UP WHENEVER HE WANTED TO, AND LEAVING WHENEVER HE WANTED TO. WOULD ALSO LEAVE PROJECT FOR DAYS AT A TIME TO DO OTHER PROJECTS THAT WERE MORE LUCRATIVE TO HIM. COMPLETELY DESTROYED MY BACKYARD AND CLAIMED IT WASN'T HIS PROBLEM. ORIGINALLY STATED IN CONTRACT THAT WE WOULD PAY $4,000 IN LABOR. BECAUSE HE WOULD ONLY SHOW UP FOR A COUPLE HOURS ON MOST DAYS, HE COUNTED THAT AS A DAY OF WORK. WHEN WE FIRED HIM, HE DEMANDED MORE MONEY THAN CONTRACT WAS AGREED UPON. CONTRACTOR USED MY PERSONAL RETAIL HARDWARE ACCOUNT TO BUY TOOLS THAT HE SHOULD HAVE PERSONALLY PROVIDED TO DO THE JOB. CONTRACTOR MADE PROMISES OF COMPLETION DATES THAT HE NEVER LIVED UP TO. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!
Description of Work: CONTRACTOR WAS HIRED TO REBUILD A GARAGE FOR ME. WORK INCLUDED TEAR DOWN OF EXISTING ROTTING BOARDS, REFRAMING, RESIDING, AND ROOFING.

DAVID FAILED TO SHOW UP AS PROMISED TO BEGIN WORK FOR SEVERAL MONTHS (APRIL 15-JULY 29, 2004). HE FAILED TO PROCEED IN AN ORDERLY FASHION: POWER WASHED HOUSE, THEN WASHED, PAINTED, AND REINSTALELD WINDOWS, THEN TURBO WASHED HOUSE, SOILING ALL WINDOWS. HE WORKED ON GARAGE AND FENCE DESPITE OUR REPEATED REQUESTS TO FINISH THE HOUSE FIRST. ON OCT. 16, SOME AREAS OF HOUSE ARE NOT BEGUN, OR NOT COMPLETED. OUR YARD HAS BEEN INACCESSIBLE TO US SINCE JULY 15; OUR GRASS IS DEAD BECAUSE PLANTERS, FIREWOOD, PALLETS AND PORT-A-POTTY FILL YARD; OUR VEG CROP IN CONTAINERS DIED BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT IN SUN; DAVID OFTEN TOLD US HE WOULD BE HERE, CAUSING US TO MISS WORK OR PAY PEOPLE TO ASSIST HIM AND HE DIDN'T SHOW. HE REPEATEDLY ASKED FOR ADDITIONAL MONEY FOR SUPPLIES, AND RECEIPTS ARE $1000 LESS THAN ADDITIONAL PAYMENTS MADE. HE MADE PHYSICAL AND LEGAL THREATS EVEN THOUGH WORK WAS NOT COMPLETE. ON OCT. 11 WE SOUGHT ADVICE BECAUSE LESS THAN 2/3 OF THE WORK ON THE ORIGINAL HOUSE CONTRACT WAS DONE.
Description of Work: DAVID AUSTIN WAS HIRED ON 10/21/03 TO PRESSURE WASH AND PAINT THE EXTERIOR OF OUR HOME, WHICH IS ALUMINUM SIDED WITH WOOD TRIM. WORK WAS TO INCLUDE ALL WINDOWS, WINDOW FRAMES, 3 DOORS AND DOOR FRAMES, 2 PORCHES, 2 DORMERS, ALL WOOD TRIM, AND ALL PEAKS, AS WELL AS CAULKING WHERE NEEDED ON ENTIRE HOUSE. WE SIGNED A SECOND CONTRACT ON MAY 11, 2004, TO INCLUDE PRESSURE WASHING, REPAIR AND PAINTING OF OUR WOOD FRAME GARAGE, AS WELL AS STAINING OF A NEWLY INSTALLED FENCE. WE SIGNED A THIRD CONTRACT AT DAVID'S RECOMMENDATION TO ADD A SEALANT TO ALUMINUM SIDING. DESPITE PROMISES TO BEGIN IN SPRING 2004, DAVID DID NOT BEGIN WORK UNTIL JULY 29, 2004, AND OFTEN DID NOT SHOW UP WHEN HE TOLD US THAT HE WOULD BE HERE. WE WANTED HOUSE FINISHED BEFORE GARAGE BUT DAVID DISREGARDED OUR REPEATED REQUESTS. HE ALSO ENGAGED IN BAIT AND SWITCH/CHANGE ORDER TACTICS, ASKING FOR MONIES FOR ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES AND REPAIRS, AND ENCOURAGED US TO CHANGE PAINT CHOICES EVEN WHEN WE DISAGREED.

Response from AUSTIN ENTERPRISES
Austin Enterprises takes great pride in it's work and warranties all of it's workmanship for the term of two years for all clients in good standing. The member is not one of those client's for the following reasons: 7 contracts were issued by the members request and only 3 have been paid. The member requests that my company do work outside of contractual guide lines for free. The member has removed property from my company and would only return it when threatened with criminal action. The member has filed false claims against my company in an effort to get out of paying her bills. If any person reading this would like to see the extensive information I provided to Angie's List along with picture's, feel free to contact me at: daveaustinii@yahoo.com David D Austin II Austin Enterprises
