Description of Work: I had Anderson Renewal windows installed by Waunakee Remodeling on the front of my home about 12 years ago. This year, we had them back to install windows on the back and to replace my 24 year old roof. They were competitively priced, timely, and the workmanship couldn't be better. I would recommend them again and again.

Description of Work: Waunakee remodeling replaced existing windows with Andersen Renewal windows, and replaced existing exterior doors with Pro Via doors. Existing vinyl siding was replaced with LP "Smartside" siding. The crew from Waunakee did a great job on all installations. The new windows and doors provide a much better seal from the elements. The individual who did all the siding work by himself was amazing. He kept me informed of each day's work, and asked questions regarding installation options. My wife and I are very happy with the new look of our home.

In both cases, the salesperson followed through from beginning to end. He provided clear and accurate information and answered all my questions respecfully without the excessive pressure that some contractors put on folks. Upon completion of the work, he came out to my house and did a final walk through. Copies of all paperwork needed to process my tax rebate was prepared and provided. Work was completed within the promised time frame and exactly to the amount of the original bid. Ffor the outside work, workers took care to not harm my landscaping and left the worksite clean every day. With one exception (the drywall work), workers in the house completed their tasks efficiently and neatly; I would not have known they had been there with the exception of seeing my beautiful new windows and doors. There were a couple of minor issues regarding completion of the drywall repair. When I left a message expressing my concern, a supervisor responded the same day and arranged to come out to inspect the work, After doing so, he sent someone out the next day to redo one section of my drywall. While this company is not the least expensive, the quality of their work and customer service makes up for their slightly higher bid.
Description of Work: Wanakee replaced all windows on two levels of my house last spring for approx. $6000. They did such a good job and were so easy to deal with that I asked them to bid on needed roof and gutter replacement this winter. While they were not the lowest bid, they were also not the highest. I did quite a bit of research on the materials they proposed using and felt the bid was reasonable given the work order. The approx. $11,000 bid included ripping off my old roof, replacing rotted wood, replacing gutters and downspots, replacing the front storm and screen door (rekeying the new door locks to match all the other locks in my house) and relocating one downspout from the rear to front corner of the house and repairing water damage to drywall inside of my home. A good part of both jobs qualified for a tax rebate since the materials used met the required energy efficiency criteria.

The job installation went well. I ordered the products in September, and they didn't arrive until mid-December. The crew came out on a very cold day, but were very professional and worked quickly to minimize the amount of exposure to the elements. The window installers pointed out some scratches on the glass that I wouldn't have noticed, and they ordered replacements. The installers were very neat, and cleaned both inside and outside of the window and door areas. They swept the floor and washed the glass.

Overall we were very pleased with the actual workers, although we were frustrated by the lack of communication from our sales person and project manager once we signed the agreement. We first evaluated them by going to the showroom in Waunakee. Our salesperson happened to be the guy working there on Saturday morning and gave us a complete explanation of the product and options. We arranged an in-home measurement and estimate and decided we liked them over the competitors due to the Andersen product. After signing, a second person (later found out he was the project manager) came out to do detailed measurement but provide little information about when the installation would take place. Salesman promised one start date, when the date came and went we called about it, found out then that we were scheduled a week later - in the end, almost three months before they could come and install the windows. Worker's showed up basically on-time, showed true professionalism and did a quality job. Nothing bad to say about the workers. However, we were disappointed in the lack of planning on how to install the new window in an existing wall - which required opening the wall more than was originally promised. Because normally they go through the exterior wall, but opted not to due to the aluminum siding (which they knew about in advance). In addition we had to move an electrical line - which resulted in additional cost to us due to mis-communication on the part of the project manager. As it stands they installed the drywall around the window, but we have to do the mud and repainting. They were kind enough to wait to put the trim on the last window until we had time to complete this ourselves.
Description of Work: Measured and installed two replacement windows plus two new windows as part of a DIY bedroom and bathroom remodeling project. New windows included opening the wall, re-framing, rerouting electric (subcontracted), and new aluminum exterior trim on all four windows.

This project involved cutting in a new opening. It is sometimes very difficult to predict what's in a wall cavity, but we try to do our best to avoid encountering problems on a project. We are glad you are happy with the quality.

They didn't come the first day scheduled due to lack of employees and said they'd be here the next day.. They called me very early to let me know. The next day I had to call them to find out what was happening. They didn't know, but people did eventually show up. They worked very cautiously on the demolition. There was great care put into it and there was no unexpected damage. The planned the install and the best way to do it. They took their time to do the job right. They estimated 2-3 days, but they were here for 5 days. I appreciated the extra time and the non hurried pace to do the job right. I had heard bad stuff about this company, some on Angie's List and talked to them about it. It appears that when they have the worker as a full time employee, things go well. Full time employees are in the carpentry area, which is what my work was. When the subcontract out work, like plumbing and bathrooms, they have less control over the employees. I was also glad to see that the sales guy and supervisor have been on site several times. There was minor damage to a light fixture, but they have been good about the solution. Part of the cost of the project was an estimated amount of repair work for the bad wood. I was impressed and happy to have, Jason, the sales guy, hit is pretty close. That shows his experience as a carpenter paid off and he knows what he's doing.
Description of Work: They removed leaking skylights and installed new ones. They also repaired some wood rot from the leaking skylights and installed 3 windows purchased from another company, but not installed due to repairs in this area.

Not well. We started the process in March but the sales person we were working with was let go and our file was misplaced. After we straightened that out and the door was ordered we had to wait several more weeks for the door to arrive, holding up some of our other projects. When the door came in it was damaged but they installed it anyway because they knew we were waiting. The damaged door was reordered but came in the wrong type of wood. They didn't catch the error until they came out to install. Had to order and stain again. Stain was a slightly different color after that. It was difficult to get through to anyone and have my calls returned. They did not offer to reduce the price as an apology even though it took 7 months to complete this transaction. I priced out the door at a local lumber yard and the ticket price was less then half of what I paid.

The salesman was about average, but the installation crew was wonderful. They were here for almost 2 weeks, so we certainly got to know them. The salesman who contacted me, was pleasant and informative. He took care to match the new product to my existing woodwork. He had the installers return the existing molding (in good shape) to some of the new windows, just replacing the molding that needed to be replaced. The installers were a little behind schedule. I was originally told the work would be done in October, it was completed in early November. The installers were not able to finish the work in one day as was expected, but he did return the following weekend to complete the job. The installers cleaned up well. I did take advantage of the pay in six months with 0% interest and no fees.
Description of Work: I had four windows replaced, one in my kitchen, three in the upstairs bedrooms. They were casement style, the smaller windows were about 36 by 46 inches, the larger windows were about 46 by 56 inches. They were Energy Star windows so I was able to get tax credit for the windows. They had the very fine screens that are easy to see through. They were Renewal by Anderson windows.

The estimator was very thorough and professional. Unlike other estimators he sat down and went over all of the details of the job so we would understand our options and what we were paying for. When the roofing crew arrived they were excellent as well. They checked to make sure we were okay with where they put their materials since we have a very small yard. In addition, since we have a small yard they brought a dump truck instead of a dumpster and hand hauled all the old roofing materials to the truck. The roofing crew answered all of my questions during the 8 days they worked on our house and were very hardworking. They also did a great job cleaning up each day. The end product was excellent and I'm very happy with our new roof and gutters.
Description of Work: We had a complete tear off and re-roof of our 100 year old home and a garage. This included tearing off 3 layers including original shake shingles, new plywood was put down, new shingles installed, all new roof vents, some fascia boards were replaced and new gutters were installed. We basically needed everything that you could need in a roofing job.

I feel they strung me along and their salesmen were slick and deceitful. They tried to talk me into things I didn't want. They said they had a program where I could view my home with different colors, but they didn't tell me the woman who ran that program quit. No one else knew how to work that system. One job led to another and they had to redo a lot of their mistakes. The workers were complaining about the bosses and then told me they were expecting a big tip when they were done. Also, one day he had a hangover and he laid around the yard and hired someone else to do the work. Also, a draft remains under the windows. On May 28th 2010 I fell through the porch that they built. It collapsed under me because it was not anchor down and was attached with finishing nails. The porch also didn?t meet building codes and the wrong wood was used and I am injured.

Overall it went very badly. We paid way too much for the remodeled room. The best part was the flooring which was installed by another sub-contracted company. The worst part was the electricity also installed by a sub-contractor and the front steps and gate which were made with poor materials. We've had the gate lock fixed now more than three times. The front door had to be fixed at least once. The steps wobble when we lean on them and the gate seems like it will fall over any day. The shed is nice. Within weeks after the pipes were installed for the sink and toilet our pipes froze. When we called the contractor there was little concern. We did not get a call back for days. The plumbing also was done by a sub-contractor and that too was a great job. Someone else had to come back, however, and insulate the pipes. There should not have been so many call backs and so much waiting for responses.
Description of Work: We had a room remodeled into a large bathroom with a bathtub put in, a sink and a toilet. We also had front steps remodeled and a gate put in the back yard as well as a small shed remodeled. We had some electricity upgraded.

Overall the job was terrible. We hired this company and expected great things. The work was extremely slow and sloppy. There were many mistakes that had to be redone. Materials were ordered which were incorrect; sometimes the company would try to talk us into keeping the "wrong" materials. Worst was the customer service. Calls were often not returned or returned days later. We were harassed by the manager of the company; originally told that whatever we wanted, we would have no trouble receiving, and then when we complained of poor workmanship, we were basically harassed and talked back to. We were amazed at the lack of professionalism.
Description of Work: We had a porch enclosed. The original porch and cement flooring had to be gutted, and a new wood porch was erected, with a new front door entering the home, and new screen door leading off the porch were installed.
