Snow removal: chewed up part of the lawn driving over grass, did a subpar job to repair lawn with light straw that blew away in less than a day. Broke landscaping light, but did replace it. Lawn care: fine job, until stated that lawn mower quit and left us hanging

He was absolutely fantastic. His prices were really good.

They came to quote the job. We discussed all beds that I wanted cleaned out. They gave good suggestions on what to do with areas of my yard that I was unclear on. They let me know when they would be coming by and were there when they said. I was very pleased with the job they did! It was well worth it.

There were some initial difficulties with dirt/debris being scattered across the pool mechanicals during the wall demolition. However, when I brought this to the attention of the owner, he came to the site and performed/directed the clean-up. He apologized, as well! The wall was rebuilt very beautifully and sturdily.

Bad customer service

Karl Norland, the owner of Norland landscaping, did an exceptional job in this project and I would highly recommend him. I will look to have him do any future landscaping jobs for us. I was looking to have a deck built to replace an aging, and now unsafe, deck from prior owners of our house. We also wanted to construct a new patio off of the deck for additional space and do some landscaping. We had spent a great deal of time trying to find anyone interested in this business which proved frustrating as we had multiple evaluations from relatively unprofessional individuals who did not seem up to the work nor did they seem interested in the project (there was not an insignificant amount of money involved). We found Norland Landscaping (Karl) on the web (I think) and from the initial meeting we feel lucky to have done so. He was punctual and looked us in the eye upon meeting him. He spent a fair amount of effort in drawing up plans and did so always according to our agreed upon schedule. We did not have to prompt him to do what he said he would do. He then found a builder to make the deck. Karl makes decks himself but given that this was a complete rebuild with foundation work and an elevated portion of the deck he was not licensed to do so which he was very up-front about with us. Of note, we found out later that a landscaping service who had given us an estimate for the work did not have the licensing that he said he had to permit him to do it. Anyway, Karl connected us with a builder that he had worked with previously -reviewed separately on Angies list who was also excellent. The builder made the deck first, then Karl and his crew built the retaining wall and patio. This was a three week long project all told. We feel that it could not have gone better. Karl and his crew were very professional, respectful and responsive. Their work is exceptional and we are very pleased with how it turned out - both the deck and the patio. There was an issue that came up in construction of the patio that I feel is particularly telling about how Karl Norland works. We needed to re-route a downspout and drain pipe as a result of the patio installation. This proved to actually be a bit of a complicated task given the grade of our lot and deck/patio design. After I reviewed my concerns for the drain with Karl early on in the project, he went to work to explore the options that we had for handling the situation. Eventually he ended up pulling up some of the patio pavers to bury a drain pipe and route it in the best way possible. He just did it and did it in the way that was not the easiest but was clearly the best option. He really closed on this and did so without additional prompting from us which I greatly appreciated. I think that this nicely illustrates his dedication to quality and his professionalism. As a result of this I felt happy to have him do additional work (landscaping) at the end of the project that we had not really planned on - I felt that they money was going to be well spent. I did not know Karl before this project and I have no connection to his company. I really am just that happy with his performance and I do feel that we were lucky to find him for this project. I would recommend him without reservation to do whatever he says that he can do. He is trustworthy and genuine. His crew is hard working and professional as well. Karl is clearly a talented manager of his crew in addition to his talent with the patio and landscaping work that he does. His design for our deck and patio turned out very nicely and are a great addition to our yard. Karl has an eye for aesthetics in his landscape and patio design. He then executes his designs well and builds with quality. I will look to him for future projects whether they are simply landscaping or more involved outdoor additions. I would recommend him without reservation and would be happy to serve as a reference for him.

Karl had given us an estimate the week before and it was really reasonable so we had everything that we really needed down at the time done in one morning we barely noticed the three guys who came to get the job done. Very professional and was willing to come at different time of the day if we wanted so that they wouldn't wake our baby. We will definitely call them again for any other yardwork we need done as they do all sorts of landscaping
