Description of Work: They did a regular furnace check and servicing. The tech has been here several times and was familiar with our equipment. He assured us that although the furnaces are over 15 years old they're still working as expected. Tom's technicians have always been polite and willing to answer any and all questions we have about our furnace and A/C. We will continue to call on Tom's for or servicing needs

I called on 12/7/11 to have service performed on my furnace as we did not have heat and the temperature was below freezing. Since I called before 4:30PM the secretary said I could get service yet that night. I stated that I understand these guys have families and we could wait until tomorrow. So we scheduled the appointment for 9:30 - 11:30AM the following day, which I believed would have been the first appointment of the day. At just before 11AM, I called to make sure we were on the schedule and the secretary said, "the service manager was just finishing up some paperwork in the office and he would be leaving shortly." So, I am left waiting with no heat while he is doing paperwork. I was pretty upset about this, especially since I thought I was being nice by waiting until the next day so the service man could get home at a reasonable hour to their families. I told them just to cancel the appointment and I would call someone else. While I was on the phone with the other company (Donovan & Jorgensen) who ultimately did the work, the secretary from Tom's called back to say they were sorry and would send someone out if we didn't already find someone else and they wouldn't charge me for the trip charge. Ultimately Donovan & Jorgensen out of New Berlin did the work because they said they could be here as their next stop and I really appreciated their quick response. So, I called Tom's Heating back, told them to cancel my appointment because even though it would cost me some money, I would rather pay someone who wants to work and values their customer's time. Tom's Heating, while technically they were not late, as the secretary made sure to point out several times, they certainly did not place any value on the time I was waiting without heat. I would not recommend Tom's Heating.
Description of Work: I had an appointment scheduled with Tom's Heating, but cancelled it because I was left waiting at home with no heat while the service manager was in the office doing paperwork.

The Service Manager (who holds an office position) was addressing a higher than usual volume of major repairs directly related to other customer's who were also without heat. He would have arrived within the promised time-frame but the customer assumed that the work he was performing was not important and she cancelled her call. Our customer's are extremely important to us and this was a rare occasion of high volume heating needs in a short period of time. We have taken pride in our customer's safisfaction for almost 60 years and will continue to work hard at meeting the heating and cooling needs of our customers in the Waukesha and surrounding areas.

We have used them for years, and it was unrelated to Angie's list. They did two jobs for me. Everything went fine. There were no problems at all. They charged $450 for one job and $150 for another.

It was a big project, but they answered all questions I asked as they went along. They had to create new ductwork, and add some piping, but they did it carefully. Moved my things in basement out of the way carefully and then replaced them later. Also cleaned up nicely after themselves when project done. It took a day and a half of work, but I was pleased with everything.
Description of Work: Replaced two 30+ year old furnaces and two a/c units with one of each, new and high efficiency. Was assured newer technology would provide same heating and cooling with one unit as with two old ones.

I thought they did a good job. They delivered when they said they were going to. Their service was good and I was pleased. I’ve had them out before and will continue to use them in the future.
Description of Work: They replaced my furnace and along with that came a new thermostat. It was leaking carbon monoxide and wasn’t running right.

Tom's really came through for us, when temps outside were nearing 100 degrees and our air conditioner was broken and not repairable. They fit us into their full schedule; the servicemen were extremely courteous. When I had questions about the new system, they always responded courteously and promptly.
Description of Work: We first had them try to fix our old air conditioner, but it was too old and parts were not available. So we had a new Carrier Infinity air conditioner and furnace system installed.

TOME HEATING SERVICE HAS BEEN REPAIRING AND SERVICING MY FURNACE OVER THE PAST 15 YEARS. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR WORK AND THE PROFESSIONALISM OF THEIR EMPLOYEES. THIS SERVICE CALL THE WERE LATE.

We were happy with the heating system work. They were not able to complete the air conditioning fix and we had to contact another service. We will continue to use them for heating only.
Description of Work: Charged air conditioning system to check for leaks, did diagnostics on system to determine why the system is not blowing cold air. Also did a full systems check on the heating system.

We do appreciate the business, even if only for heating needs. However, we do feel the need to clarify a few things. Wisconsin Statute 101.177 clearly states that any Technician needs to inspect, and if necessary, repair refrigeration equipment that leaks, or is suspected of leaking, before putting additional ozone-depleting refrigerant into that refrigerant system. This particular system, which we had filled, lost four pounds of refrigerant within fifteen days, which is a good indicator that there is a large leak in the system. In this situation, by law, we will not "keep filling" the system (which could result in fines to our Technician and company). We respect the customers decision to try to take an "alternate route" to find a solution considering this is a fairly expensive repair/replacement. However, we do not want anyone to get the impression that we are unable to repair air conditioners, as this is simply not true. Our Technicians are experts in cooling as well as heating, and are continuously training to keep up with new technology in the industry. Unfortunately, this was just a classic case of the "correct" answer being the "not so popular" answer.
