Putting in 4 board oak fencing is hard work, heavy, and it needs to be precise. Pasture after pasture they have done great work for us. There is simply no better local company to work with.

Set the new post and took the sections off of old post that had snapped off.They waited three days to allow the post to set in the cement before replacing the sections. They also placee a large boot like protector around the post to provide added support. Bill then used long screws to set the sections more firmly into the new post. Bill and Cindy had built the original fence 9 years ago at a cost of $6,400. I honestly was surprised more sections did not fall given the sustained wind. While they were here I had them look at extending a deck and requested they send me a quote. They take great pride in their work and I can recommend them without reservations.
Description of Work: Bill and Cindy repaired a section of my fence that went down due to 65 mile an hour winds several days ago.

Description of Work: This Company should be OUT of business!!!! Hired to build a custom residential Cedar fence. Never knew when they would show up. They wouldn't call and/ or answer calls. Always had excuses! Could not figure out how to put the custom topper on that they said was no problem! Then said they would make up for it by doing something custom to the double gates. Again they couldn't figure it out. Would get mad and use inappropriate language as if it was our fault!! They need to stick to two rail horse correls !!! We finally just wanted them off our property! My husband finished the mistakes they had made. Do not contact this company if you want your fence done in a timely manner and finished correctly. This is only a two person business and I recently heard the wife had to quit and get another job.

They were very prompt. If the weather wasn't good they would get us in on a day that was better. They were very friendly. They offered us good sources for companies who did rod iron fencing.
Description of Work: They installed wood fencing on both sides. One side one year and the other side the next year.

+ -1 moreThey were very nice when we first hired them, but since the work was completed we have had some issues that they have not responded to. We have a post that keeps popping up and the gate will not stay shut. This is a major issue because we have dogs. They will not return my phone calls and have put me off for the past two years. I have called nearly 20 times, leaving messages. I am very dissatisfied with this company and would never recommend them to anyone. They told us they would guaranteeing the fence for the lifetime of the fence and have not followed through.
Description of Work: They came and installed a new wood privacy fence as well as an arbor with a gate.

+ -1 moreI called them in early July for an estimate for a fence and left a message with my name, phone number and request. They never returned my call. I called again on July 20, and left another message with all pertinent info. It's been 10 days with still no call back. If they're too busy to take on another job, all they had to do was take 2 minutes out of their busy schedule to tell me that in a phone call. Or just put that on their phone message so I wouldn't waste my time waiting around for them to return my call! Very poor customer service!

+ -1 moreCindy was on the job when we placed our call and asked that we call back and leave a message on her answering machine and she would call us back that evening. We left the message with our name, phone number, and street address just as she had asked us to do. We did not receive the call back that evening as she stated and have not yet received a call back. Due to the lack of responsiveness on Thomas Fence and Deck, we have looked for additional fencing contractors on Angie's list and have found several that have and will be coming out to give us an estimate. Apparently, they must have so much work to do that they don't need another potential customer.

I call the following day & talked to Cindy Thomas (?) and informed her that I was looking for estimates for a chain link fence for a residential property. It was at this time that she informed me that the company DOES NOT DO chain link fencing anymore & referred me to another company that is also listed on Angie's List. I thanked her for her time & referral & returned back to Angie's List to obtain further companies for estimates.

+ -1 moreBill and Cindy came to the house to discuss what we needed and then gave us an estimate. They had great ideas and seemed to speak from a broad base of experience. I like the idea that they do the work themselves and do not use hired help. The fence turned out beautiful and we will probably call them back next spring to do more work. They were able to finish the fence in one day however due to their busy schedule, rain delays and unexpected circumstances, the time between the initial estimate and actual completed project was quite lengthy. They came to do the estimate in June but did not get the job done until October which was more than a month later than what they thought. Nevertheless, it was worth the wait.
Description of Work: Custom made and installed a privacy fence on our deck.

+ -1 moreThey did an excellent job of fence removal and installation of a new fence. They were very professional and courtious throughout the whole job. Job was completed within the time frame given allowing for weather conditions. Clean up was excellent. What impressed us the most was the detailed estimate of what was going to be done and that there was no contract just a handshake. We even followed Bill's advice on the brand of fencing stain to use which turned out excellent.
Description of Work: Removed old fence and posts with concrete and reinstalled new fencing as we wanted.

We ultimately hired another company. they sound like very nice people and their Web site is very helpful. if they are not able to keep up with the workload or hire a receptionist, they cshould consider updating their voicemail greeting to indicate they are not accepting new jobs.

+ -1 moreWe had used this company at our old house with great results, so we called them first when we needed a fence at our new home. They responded same day, came out and gave an estimate a day or two later, and our fence was done less than two weeks after we had the building permit in hand. It's by far the nicest fence in our neighborhood, and the workmanship is top-notch. We also really enjoy working with Bill and Cindy; it is so nice to deal directly with the owners, who obviously take pride in their work and appreciate the business (something I haven't always felt with other contractors). We've already recommended them to our neighbors.
Description of Work: Put up a 6 ft. tall, 20 ft. long fence with gate in the back yard, and a 4 ft. tall, 11 ft. long fence with gate in the front yard.

Description of Work: E-mailed photos for an estimate of a simple fence repair. Took them over a week to respond, leaving a voice mail asking for the address so they could check it out before giving an estimate. We got their answering machine so we left a message with our address. They never showed, never called, never e-mailed, never responded in any fashion. Totally unprofessional with a discourteous lack of respect for others.

She gave us helpful advice on factors to consider when picking a fence. She had a nice display of pictures of their work. This year, we followed up with her, and she got information from our village on fence regulations. When we decided to go with this company, they never returned any of our calls.

+ -1 moreOverall, the process was satisfactory. If it was frustrating at times, it was due to some slow responses caused, it seems, by Bill's concern with the quality of his work more than with the mechanics of responses to specific times of communications. Several things that came up in the process required work beyond the contract and they were handled carefully. For example, the old deck had been built over pea gravel, which did not allow for the proper setting of the supports for the new structure, so work on the deck had to be stopped while the gravel was removed and replaced with dirt. So, some house siding had to be replaced and an additional length of handrail had to be included. So we, and the building inspector, were complementary of the work.
Description of Work: Tore out and disposed of a deteriorating deck attached to the house; designed and installed a free standing replacement deck that more clearly met building codes. We scheduled a time for an estimate and Bill and Cindy arrived on time, and left us a specific itemized proposal. The finished cedar deck is of clearly professional quality and built to last. We find no flaws in the workmanship.
