The job was done fine in the first place, but they are not honoring their warranty. I went with a suggested expensive, long lasting paint, and it is bubbling in a couple places, and chipping also. I called a few times to state the problem and never got a return call.
Description of Work: Painted outside trim on house.

Wendy arrived with painters Greg and Josh, who proceeded to begin scraping and preparing. Painting followed, including priming where necessary. They completed their work on November 15th. At the time, Greg asked my wife to walk around and inspect the job (I was away at the time) and to give him a check for the balance. She objected, asking that I be given the opportunity to inspect before paying, but he insisted and took home a check for the $1,134 balance. My inspection the next day showed very poor workmanship on the porch ceiling and soffits, and that three of the four basement windows were untouched. I called to bring this to their attention. I mentioned also my disappointment with the clean-up: hundreds of paint chips were scattered in our gardens and yard. Wendy returned with Greg, who agreed the workmanship was inferior and promised to return to correct the problems, which was done in a few days, except that the paint chips were mostly still there. Rather than make an issue of something so minor, I let it go. On later examination, I found NO evidence of scraping or surface preparation on two of the three basement windows and indeed the painted surface appeared hastily and poorly done. Wendy promised to look into this, but it was by now late November, and so the whole matter was put off. Until late April, when Dave called to follow up, and came on 4/26 to inspect the work. (I was a day away from making complaint to Angie s List because of no follow-up.) We found, also, some incomplete painting of the frame around the garage door. He went to work and re-painted the basement windows and despite his efforts to correct Greg's poor workmanship, it appears this paint job will be short-lived. I will explain shortly. Another (minor) concern was that paint spatters had been left on our front storm door, glass and frame. Dave promised to return the following week with the right chemicals to remove the spatters. Dave has not returned. Now I am truly upset. Just last week we were cleaning screens and painting some interior trim and noticed the second-floor soffit is already peeling badly. The first-floor porch ceiling (the one that got a repeat paint job) is spotty and peeling. Paint is peeling from the first-floor gutter. The basement windows which Dave came to rectify appear to be suffering the beginnings of the same fate after only a few weeks. I should mention that our house was painted about ten years ago, and so it was time. But that job of ten years ago was done by a couple of young college students, one would expect they would have less experience and professionalism than Superior Finishing, but the results are in: the kids win, hands-down. It seems Dave and Wendy, nice as they appear to be, have the inability to complete this work in a way that will last. I believe they should refund the $1,700 so that we can engage a painting firm that can repair this problem.
Description of Work: Painting of exterior of our house, except for aluminum siding and shutters. The agreement was to scrape, prime and paint. Dave & Wendy Sugden were prompt and responsive to our request for a quote on repainting our house. The estimate given ($1,700) was reasonable, and included a statement that one-third would need to be paid before work would be scheduled. Once we called to accept their bid, Dave said that was unimportant, just to pay when finished. Wendy called later and said the down payment was required. No big deal, we paid it and scheduled the work for the middle of November, the earliest they were available. The Sugdens had been kind enough to recommend a carpenter to repair some fascia and roofing before painting, Mike Fisher came to do the work.

The owner came to give us a quote for exterior painting and caulking. They did the work when they said they would be able to do it. The owner started his men out and returned throughout the project to check on things, as well as work himself. His workers were courteous and did nice work. Thankfully, there was no blaring music while they worked. They did an excellent job preparing the wood and surfaces for painting, and protecting the surrounding surfaces from paint chips while scraping, as well as surfaces while painting. When an area was found that had some paint on the window screen and window, they immediately made plans to replace the window screening and cleaned the windows. There was no argument involved. They were pleasant to work with and communicating was easy. The trim on the home looked great when they were done. They appear to have done an excellent job.
Description of Work: Did the wood peaks, trim, facia, gutters -- scraped, caulked, primed and painted with a high quality paint on a 1950's brick ranch house and garage, approx. 2000 sq. ft. Some wood trim was rotten and needed to be replaced. They mentioned that we might want to go with caulking in some areas which was an additional $400. That seemed rather high, but we elected to have it done. Replacing some rotted wood was an additional $100, which seemed reasonable.

We were thrilled with Dave's attitude, personality, professionalism, and the outstanding quality of his work. This was a difficult tile layout that required substantial cutting and fitting to incorporate the 6x6 antique trivets. They were hand painted many years ago by a family member. The workmanship was flawless, and the back splash is a highlight of our new home. David has pictures of the work he did for us, and has permission to use us as a reference.
Description of Work: Installed 2x2 ceramic tile back splash behind counter top and stove. Then they incorporated 6x6 custom painted antique ceramic trivets into the design.
