Seider's personnel were very professional and helpful, in both the work they performed, as well as their recommendations.
Description of Work: Asked Seider to come out and look at our furnace, which was not performing properly. They identified a few problems, made some changes (that worked), and recommended a new furnace (it was 32 years old). They also provided a quote for a new furnace.

I made the appointment for the work and they arrived as scheduled. All work was performed that morning and they did a quality job. The only reason I gave the rating of a B for the price was because of the price for the circuit board. The circuit board price was $479.00. That seemed rather costly. This circuit board has been replaced more than once for this particular Carrier furnace over the span of owing the furnace. I have no problem with the work performed.
Description of Work: At the end of the prior season the furnace stopped working so my phone call was to fix the current problem and then to have them perform a clean and tune up. The furnace is approx 15-20 years old. The main circuit board went out and needed to be replaced on my main furnace for the home. In addition, I have a breezeway where there is a heater in the wall that I also wanted to be cleaned and tuned up. There were no problems found with the breezeway unit after the cleaning and tune up was performed. I also replaced an air filter and had the water panel for my Aprilaire humdifier replaced and the humdifier cleaned and tuned up.

Totally satisfied. The representative was very good at his job. I scheduled a "tune up" and "cleaning" for my furnace. The Rep suggested that I might need a part in the future so I had him install it now. I will consider Seider my Furnace repair company. The 25% coupon paid my Angie's List cost. I gave Seider a B rating only because when I scheduled the tune up they told me the next appointment opening was almost two weeks away. This lax time, during a period where there wasn't any severe weather, makes me think they may be undermanned, which could be a red falg in the case I ever have an emergency. I was very pleased with my experience.

We were having problems with our heating system. It was turning on and going into a high pitched, high output mode. The technician checked the system out completely. He checked all processes. He worked with the settings and we have not had any problems since.

The technician showed up around 1:30PM, I gave them a B for punctuality because I was given the 12-4 time frame and that "cable guy" stuff makes me crazy...although I understand the need to a point. The technician was friendly and was eager to know what issues (exactly) I had previously experienced. He allowed me to join him a couple of times and showed me exactly the parts that he was inspecting as I had worked on it previously. He finished his work, explained the nature of the issue and that a replacement was needed. He apologized for the issue, even though it obviously wasn't his fault, and offered to call a sales rep for me immediately. He was able to setup an appointment for me the next day at 8AM. As he was leaving I asked if he knew of a vendor from which I could obtain space heaters as a temporary fix and he said I could use one that was in his truck but would need to give it back to the sales rep the next day. He also mentioned that our house was large so he could have a few more delivered, although I declined. He brought me my bill, which was $0 because of an Angie's List deal, wished me luck, gave me his card and told me to let him know if I need anything else. I was very impressed with the speed of service (I had called at about 9am) and the demeanor and knowledge of their technician.

Update to Review 9/9/2012 - 2nd Review (after Owner visit) for Seider Heating and Air My original letter to the business received no response, but after getting a notice from Angies List that a negative review had been submitted, the owner of Seider Heating called me directly. After some discussion he agreed to come and look at my installation and discuss my concerns. He did indicate that he would be writing to Angies List himself to counter my review. The owner, Brain came to my house on 8/28/2012. After showing him the installation and again explaining that I had told the installation team (not the salesman) that I wanted install to go thru the drywall section of the wall and not the ceramic tile (see Item # 1 in original complaint letter). He kept going back to me telling the salesman and it being a ?miscommunication?. I had to keep saying I stood in the basement and told the installation team directly. Then he stated it is standard practice to show the customer where the unit will be placed. I stated this was not done during my installation. Then after measuring and looking at the outside he tells me that it would have been ?out of code? to place it where I requested. (I have measured myself and believe placing it where requested would have left the 18? on either side of the electric meter.) We then discussed the removal of the furnace top, which he indicates is ?just scrap? and they always just remove it. And when asked about the extra 12 foot of cooper tubing they didn?t use as they went the shortest route instead of the requested route, he said they take that and scrap it. That no one has ever asked for the copper they pay for and is not used. He stated the copper is taken back to the shop and ?thrown in a barrel? for recycling and that the guys then can use that for their Christmas party. I indicated I was asking for mine, along with the furnace coil compartment they removed without my permission. Item #3 on my original review/complaint, the issue of the installation team deliberately misleading me on what was checked on the bottom of the form they had me sign. When I brought this up, Brian stated ?That wasn?t us, that was the Electrician?. This is completely untrue as the electrician had left to go get more parts and was not even present when this happened. When made this clear to the owner, Brain, he didn?t want to discuss it any further. The owner, Brian, then asked me what I wanted him to do about this. He then offered to move the a/c to where I originally wanted it. When asked if that would include fixing the broken wooden ceiling tiles and fixing the ceramic tile, he said ?No?. And why would this now be in code when 20 minutes earlier it couldn?t be placed where I requested for code reasons? He then offered me $100, which I turned down explaining that wouldn?t even pay for someone to close off the hole in the ceiling and tile. I tried to explain that this was about more than money, that there were several other issues here. I did indicate I would take 15% of the cost as I estimate that is still less than what it will cost me to fix. At that time Brain stated he ?would need to think about it and get back to me?. That was a week ago and I have heard nothing from him. This reinforces my opinion that this owner does not care about clients or customers. This visit by the owner of the business has done nothing to answer any of the questions and concerns I had about this company. These concerns include: 1. Ignoring the customer request for installation and placing unit where they choose therefore causing unnecessary damage to wall and ceiling. (If this placement wasn?t in code at installation, why would you offer to move it there after the complaint?) 2. Removing property from the customer?s home without asking and/or gaining permission. I am weighing my options on this. 3. Deliberately misleading customer about what was removed from their house and then blaming this someone else. Someone who isn?t even a part of this complaint. 4. And lastly, very poor customer service. I don?t believe I would have been contacted at all if Angie?s list had not forwarded my review. I don?t understand a business owner ignoring these types of issues. I would not recommend a business where the owner does not even have the common professional courtesy to follow through on what he states he will do. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ 1st Review This is a copy of the letter I sent to Seider Air. To date, they have not responded. Obviously, they do not care about the customer. On July 24, 2012 you company installed an Air Conditioning System in my home at xxxx. Although you team was friendly and polite, I have some serious concerns about this installation. Your salesman, John was very professional. When he was here for the estimate, we stood in the basement and discussed where the coil would go outside. He stated that he would be adding 25 foot of copper coil to my estimate to make sure they could go around the light and out the drywall. He seemed to know what he was doing. When the Installers first arrived I did state this information about going around the light and out the drywall. I even mentioned the 25? of copper tubing. Instead, they went thru the ceramic tile and out in the corner of the house, right under the bedroom and kitchen window. The shortest route, but not sure it was the correct one. To be fair, one of the men did come up and ask if they could remove one of the ceramic tiles. I did say yes. Unfortunately I didn?t realize they would remove 2 tiles completely and broke another, leaving a whole in the wall where the drywall was removed with the tiles. They did not clearly explain what they were doing and why they did not go out the drywall area. My ceiling is made of stained wood squares. Some are fixed or nailed in place. The ones around this area are, except the ones where I need to get into the Pipes and shut off vales. These are hinged and swing down. One of the hinged wood ceiling tiles is now broken and the air conditioning lines are permanently attached. Thankfully, they did not go right over the shut off valves, but in these old houses why would you go near the plumbing pipes? When John, your salesman was here, he also measured the part on the top of the furnace that the coil goes into. (Sorry for my lack of knowledge here). We discussed the 2 ton coil, but not really if it would fit. When the installation team came they said ?I don?t know if the coil will fit in the compartment.? They did remove this compartment and made a new one. They did not ask to remove this part from my home or if I wanted to keep it. However, I happened to be outside talking to a neighbor when a man approached my backdoor. I asked him if he was looking for me and he said no he was the scrap guy looking for one of your installation team. Sorry I forgot his name. The bill looks like it says ?Jay?. When your installer came out he immediately walked him to the front yard. When he came back he said ?He just saw our truck and stopped to see if we had scrap?. Although this is possible, but I don?t think this is very likely. When they were finished (Expect the electrician, Dwayne), and he brought the bill up and had me sign. When I was looking at it he stated ?This doesn?t apply to you as we didn?t remove any old equipment?. This was in relation to the check mark next to giving permission to remove original equipment. That was not true. I now realize I should have questioned this more. If I had been asked, I would have kept this part as this is a 5 year old furnace and who knows if I would need this in the future. Based on all of the above, the following is what I would like to understand. 1. Why did they put the coil and lines where they did? Was it to save them time? Or to save a little bit of extra work? Or to save the copper tubing? Or was it really the best place to put it. Maybe there is a valid reason for placing it where they did. But that should have been communicated to me, so I would not have these questions. 2. I believe they called the scrap metal person to come get the furnace part the removed and that he wasn?t just ?driving down the street?. Is the scrap metal person part of your team? Are they normally asked to come to the client?s home? If so, they need a more professional appearance. 3. I know what was said about the check mark on the form indicating that I gave permission so he could take the furnace top. Whether this was deliberately misleading or not, I can?t say for sure. I realize some of this frustration should be aimed at me, as I should have been more watchful and less trustful. Your product works fine, but my experience was not great. I am hoping that this letter will, if nothing else, help you to improve your installation process and may keep another customer from feeling the way I do

I called Seider after the company I originally contracted with left me high and dry (see New Berlin Heating) 2 days before I needed work to start. John R. was able to schedule this installation, despite needing to coordinate it with my basement/foundation work. They removed the old A/C and pad on Friday, and were back on Tuesday, when work was to have been done w/ the basement. With the weather issues (100 degree heat yesterday, rain today), the basement work was ongoing, but they made it work! They were pleasant, professional, clean, and worked well with the other company's team. They showed me how to work the new thermostat, and had the house cooling when I returned from errands. Great job!!

I had called company and made appointment for an evening after I come home from work. As I got home, technician had just arrived. After my briefing him of my air conditioner not functioning properly, he went right to outside unit; at the same time, I turned on air conditioner at thermostat. When I went back outside, he had already diagnosed the problem of bad capacitors. He gave a good description of the problem and quoted a price. He proceeded to change the faulty parts and very soon the air conditioner functioned properly again. All went smoothly and very well.

We called about our central air conditioning in the morning and the technician was here by 11am... almost to the minute when they said he would be there! He was very polite and helpful. Our problem could not be 100% fixed without replacing a very expensive part, but he suggested a much more economical fix that "should last a while." He explained everything thoroughly and even though I was spending a lot I felt like I got my money's worth. The house is cool tonight, so we'll see how the summer goes.

If you're a stay at home kind of person with nothing to do and nowhere to go, then take a risk. Otherwise, if you have a life, not worth the phone call.
Description of Work: Initially bought a heater from Seider and was contemplating buying an air conditioning unit from them but recent experiences indicate I should go with another contractor. Last week, called during the week to schedule an appointment on the weekend and agreed to pay the 15% increase in weekend rate. Tech was supposed to show sometime between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm because after 2:00 pm, rates increase drastically. Their tech called the house at 11:30 am sounding like he just got out of bed saying that he "just got the call" that he had an appointment and asked me if I wanted him to come out. Since he sounded like the initial tech who installed some parts of the heating unit incorrectly (needed two techs to get that fixed, and the unit vibrates loudly when first kicking in since the install in 2010) I told him no, did not want him to drag his sorry self into my home. Had lots of errands to run on Saturday 'cause I work 60 hours a during the week. Incredibly, got better service from the cable guy this week than from this business. Received two calls to reschedule and am absolutely over them. I'm done.

Response from Seider Heating & Plumbing Inc
Seider Heating & Cooling apologizes to the member for our slow response to her service request. We dropped the ball on calling this customer in a timely manner. We did have a meeting last week to review the dispatching procedures for weekends with the staff to prevent this from happening in the future.Unfortunately, too late to help this customer, but I would like to extend a free AC or Furnace tune-up to make up for our slow responsiveness. Thanks for your report, it helps us become a better company. Frank-Service Manager

Wanted to have annual maintenance done by someone new. We have been receiving postcards stating our air conditioner uses Freon and that by Federal Law it had to be replaced. Not trusting that information, we called Seider Heating & Air Conditioning. Cory came out and did a complete check of the furnace and air conditioning unit. He chuckled at the postcard and said as long as the unit is working, it is fine. The Freon is sealed and not leaking, so leave it be. Both the furnace and air conditioner are eight years old. He gave us a lot of information including how to set the Aprilaire unit. Since the Xenon furnace uses a unique filter, he suggested we order it on line to save money. Seider does not carry that filter. Cory did a great job and it was refreshing to have some one willing to teach us about the features and explain the operations to us. He also told us the furnace was a good one and operating efficiently.

The quote process was cordial and very informative. We learned things about how our Carrier Infinity furnances worked that we were never educated on by the installer (not Seider)---there was extra value in the few tips that were shared with us. Pleasantly surprised to have the units installed within two days of the proposal. Ken and Pete were the installers who were punctional and professional. Cleaned up well from their work and took time to make sure we were happy with the work.

Everything went great. They took care of the permits and everything. They arrived on time, were very professional, clean, and were mindful of our home.
Description of Work: During our routine cleaning Sieder recommended replacing our heaters because the man thought there was a crack in one of the heat exchangers. This would cause gas to leak. We called and schedule an immediate appt for an estimate. They were available to install two new furnaces the next week. They arrived at 8am. Put down cloth on our floor to protect it. Removed the two old furnaces from the house. Fashioned the pipes and vents and installed two new Carrier furnaces. They called the electrician to do his work. They tested them to make sure everything worked and finished up about 2:30pm. When they removed the old furnaces, they both had two big cracks.

They were excellent. They are very dependable. We have had them for years and years. In fact, I think they put in our last couple of furnaces so we probably have had them for over twenty years. Anytime that we have had to have a repair, which is not often, but once or twice that we did, they were very reasonable and we knew that it was fixed right like it should be. We are just very pleased with them. My husband always compared prices and they were not any more expensive than anyone else was. They were just about the same in pricing but because of the quality of their work, we liked them. We would most certainly continue to use them. They most certainly deserve an A plus.
Description of Work: We used them to get our furnace installed about a couple of years ago.

I made an appointment on a Monday for Tuesday, which was nice. Clayton arrived on time. He was efficient and helpful. He answered questions about the furnace and what he was doing, as well as addressing concerns I had regarding my ductwork and heat output. I used a one-time coupon to save 25%. Overall, an excellent experience. I would call them again without reservation.
