An Employee by the name of Jennifer came to my door and talked to my husband and me about hail damage on our house. She stated that she could work with our insurance to have the siding replaced by her company at no cost to us. After much thought we decided to see what she could do. I called the insurance company and met with Jennifer and my insurance adjuster the next afternoon. After walking the property with the adjuster and being told by him that the work can be covered, Jennifer then insisted that I sign a contract agreeing that her company would take care of the work. After asking her for an estimate for my cost she kept insisting that I didn't need one and that the insurance would pay for the work. After talking to her more I explained that my husband and I want an estimate since we've never had siding done before so we were curious about the cost of this type of work. She then mentioned that the only amount we would have to worry about is $1000 to cover our deductible, any damage (rotting wood or mold) found after the work has started and RHI would recycle the aluminum siding and keep the money to split with the installers after RHI took their portion. We were also suppose to sign over the check that our insurance sent us, still with no estimate. The $1000 was odd to me since we would have already paid that to the insurance as our deductible so now I have to give them an additional $1000?? Also, I can't decide what I want to do with MY old siding?? This started to seem more and more like a scam. I told her I wouldn't sign anything until we received an estimate so she agreed that she would get one to us in a few days. A week went by with no word so I called Jennifer to remind her that we needed the estimate. She stated she was sorry about the delay due to being really busy but she would get one out that evening. Never saw it! Since we already had the money from the insurance we decided to look elsewhere. Finally after a few quotes we went with Rob's Roofing in West Allis and are 100% happy with that decision. Jennifer did call almost 2 months later for an update. I did advise her that another company quickly provided us with an estimate so we went with them. RHI does have a legit website and I suppose is a legit company. They claim to have an A rating on the BBB, the rating is true but that's with only 3 customer ratings. It's even more odd that they have only 3 reviews (all positive) on the BBB and pictures of only 3 houses that they've worked on... makes you wonder if these are from the employees and not actual customers. Just my thoughts! This whole experience just seemed odd, just be cautious about someone knocking on your door saying "you need work on your house, let me get your insurance money so I can fix your house". Never sign anything without doing the research. Just my thoughts!
