Description of Work: We asked for a quote on a bathroom remodel in early January stating we wanted to have it before we headed south in mid-February. We were told by the new owner, Jeff, no problem, you'll have it by next week. After numerous phone calls we finally received it approximately 5 weeks later, the afternoon before we were to leave on our trip. After returning home in late March we called Cox. Jeff came to the house, we went over the quote and he sent us to the cabinet maker, counter top business and shower door company plus had us come into his location to pick out faucets so that he could give us a more exact quote. We waited and waited for the revised quote and never received it. After about six weeks we gave up calling and emailing and contacted another general contractor. After meeting with that contractor, who had worked for us previously, we accepted his quote and sent Cox and email telling them that we would not be using them. A few weeks later Jeff called and wondered what we were going to do about the cabinet which he had ordered and placed a deposit on. We had not signed a contract with Jeff; we had not given him the okay to go ahead with anything so why he would order the cabinet is beyond us. The previous owners of Cox Plumbing were wonderful. Their service was wonderful. They were prompt, knowledgeable, efficient. We liked that they charged by the half hour than the hour. We had done business with them for over 20 years. But with the new owner, the company is no long the same Cox Plumbing we relied on. It's a shame because there are/were some very good people working for Cox.

Tom, the plumber, was on time, clean, pleasant, professional and very nice. Finished the job on time and below estimate. Very good experience! I found a great plumber for future needs!
Description of Work: COX PLUMBING CO replaced a broken kitchen faucet and gave additional advice on how to clean out the water intake in my toilet tank. Great!

+ -1 moreThis was a two day project. The first day, the technician inspected the kitchen faucet to determine which parts were required from the manufacturer. He also examined under the sink and determined that all of the plumbing was fine all in good working order. He also cleared the clogged toilet by snaking it. The leak under the sink was determined to be due to the RO filter, which is handled by a different vendor. The second day was after the parts arrived from the manufacturer. A second technician came and installed the parts. He also found one remaining small leak from the RO filter, and showed me exactly where it was so I can show the RO vendor when they come to repair it. In both cases, the technicians called before coming over, called within the time frame I was given, were prompt, professional, courteous, and performed the work in a timely manner.
Description of Work: Kitchen faucet was leaking in two places, we had a leak under the sink, and a toilet that would was clogged and not responding to plunging.

+ -1 more,MY main goal was to deal with some locally in our own community When I first called the office I was informed that they had a very busy schedule that day and would try to squeeze me in if no emergency came in. Luck was with me and I had a plumber within the 2hr time window that was quoted. John informed me of what was found when he removed the toilet. At that point the job was on hold until we purchased a new toilet. John (the plumber) gave us some tips on what to look for when I expressed an interest in replacing the toilet with something more eco-friendly and efficient. Once we found what we wanted I informed the office that we had purchased a replacement and scheduled the work to be done the following day. All work was completed to our satisfaction and no additional trip charges were added to the cost and WE LOVE !!!!! the new toilet, (We opted to go with a comfort height toilet, what a difference!).
Description of Work: The toilet in main bathroom leaking into basement. Pulled toilet, replaced speedy stop when getting ready to set toilet, a hairline crack was on outside of tank and also discovered that it was visible inside tank. We, the home owner decided to replace the toilet with a new one, so work placed on hold and rescheduled for the next day. All work was completed to our satisfaction and we got a new and better toilet in the process!

+ -1 moreGot the confirmation call that the plumber was on their way within 1/2 of the 2 hour arrival window time. Upon arrival, was greeted by a friendly plumber. Explained the job I wanted done. I felt understood and the plumber got quickly to work to repair the leaky faucet. I got the advice I needed about the Water Heater. The plumber was friendly, knowledgeable, clear in explanation and quick as a bunny. I would call out Cox Plumbing again on my next plumbing job.
Description of Work: Replaced outside leaky faucet. Consulted on preventative maintenance and concerns about Water Heater.

+ -1 moreStaff doesn't seem very well organized. They don't seem to have a very efficient way to convey messages or communicate any more.
Description of Work: Have worked with Dave from Cox Plumbing 5 years ago and was very pleased with his work in connecting city water to a house in Brookfield. His price was good, he was quick and did good work. However, this time I needed the same service for another house I bought and the 1st time I called I got no response. I called back and my call was returned this time, 2 days later. When I spoke with Dave he explained his company is hurting due to the absence of 1 plumber. He said he would go out to my new place to quote the work needed. Since then I have made over 6 calls to him to find out what his bid would be and have never gotten a quote for the work needed. I am VERY disappointed because it is a large job - over $3,000 and I would rather have it done by someone I have already trusted. Too bad, he doesn't seem to want the business now. I'm now going with another plumber listed on Angie's List!

Called Cox Plumbing at 630 am and immediately got the answering service- Plumber called back immediately, arranged to come to our house first thing, remove old water heater and install a new one. They were very professional and did a good job. Would call again.

They gave us more choices in making our decisions than other Angie’s List highly rated companies. They man that negotiated the price was more interested in making sure the work was done right, and it was the best choice for us. He was more interested in maintaining his reputation of a superior plumber and the satisfaction of the customer. He mediated the entire situation, instead of sending a bill and anticipating our response.
Description of Work: He connected us to a water line two years ago, and recently came back to repair a huge leak that was flooding the neighborhood.

+ 0 moreWe've used them twice and John did the service both times. He was awesome. He was very helpful in explaining what the problem was and what he was going to have to do. In doing the job he was always conscious of how it might affect the area that the problem was happening in. He explained how he determined where the clog was; we already knew because we have had clogs their before. He was very good. Even though we felt the price was a little high we like their customer service and their communication. They do what they say they are going to do and once they leave we don't have any problem. They had told us it would be $110 just to come out.
Description of Work: We used Cox Plumbing to pull a toilet, fix a clog and reset the toilet.

+ -1 moreThey sent someone within a couple of hours. They did as little damage as possible in order to fix the problem. They were very responsive and understood the situation that I was trying to sell my home. My home was older and they have plumbers that have experience working in older homes. They were efficient and thorough. I had used them before for smaller issues and I was always satisfied. After this time, I was like "wow". They did an excellent job. They were well qualified as plumbers and I felt confident that they knew what they were doing and I trusted them. I even spoke to the owner and they gave me priority because they knew I was trying to sell my home. I would recommend them to anybody and they did an excellent job.
Description of Work: I used Cox Plumbing last August to fix an emergency situation because of a water pipe leak. They had to tear out plaster to get to the main stack to replace it.

+ -1 moreWe had used Cox Plumbing on several occasions before as Mike lives in our neighborhood. As in the past, I got an estimate from them and gave them the go ahead to perform the work. The plumber that did the work was prompt and professional, but the unit leaked that evening. He came back in a couple days and repaired the leak, but I again found water on the floor 3 months later. The actual price turned out to be approx. $200 more than the estimate. I'm not happy. Workmanship poor and price too high.
Description of Work: We had Cox Plumbing replace an old leaking water softener.

Subsequent visit for re-installation of dishwasher and toilet. They were very professional, courteous and clean. I am very pleased with them. I will use them again.

+ -1 moreHe was here approximately 35-40 minutes and he did not give me an invoice he said that they would send me a bill. Call and ask first for what they charge to come out.
Description of Work: I called them regarding an odor in the bathroom. When he came out I also asked him why we have so much air in our pipes. I told him that the odor in the bathroom is very faint in the morning, which is when he came. He ran and ran the water and tried to smell the odor, which he didn't. For the air in the pipes he ran more water and he felt like it was the a problem with my water conditioner and filters. Which he was right and they repaired the problem.

We have an old house and they are consistantly creative and tasteful with mixing the old with new. Their price is reasonable, too.
Description of Work: Cox plumbing placed a sink in our new wet bar that we had placed in the basement. They took an existing cold water line and tapped it into a sink, added a heater for hot water, and placed a bar sink and counter top.
