I was referred to Mr. Marino by a neighbor who was very pleased with his work. I called him on a Friday and he met with me on a Sunday, He listened and gave me a schedule of what had to be done in chronological order. The flooring, baseboards and drywall needed to be replaced, along with new insulation. The condo had to be re-painted as well. My condo is insured, but the insurance company was only willing to pay for half of what the restoration actually cost. Mr. Marino got involved at this point and we recovered the actual cost of the repair to the penny. The drywall team, the carpenter, the painter and the flooring contractor were all experienced, efficient and meticulous. I was very pleased with the level of workmanship. They were on schedule every step of the way. The communication with Mr. Marino and his contractors was great. Each person involved had an attention to detail. I was kept up to date on the progress of each project. We communicated almost daily. My condo was uninhabitable because of the water damage and the team was very sensitive to my situation. It was important for the work to be done in a timely manner. Before I moved back in, Mr. Marino had my condo professionally cleaned. I highly recommend Mr. Marino and his team to anyone that has any sort of remodel or restoration work. He has worked with his team for years and they respect each other and know the importance of working together for a positive outcome. I could not be more satisfied!

They did an absolutely excellent job. They found a really bad construction vault and they fixed it. I think it was a competitive price. They were here when they said they’d be here and if they will be delayed in a day, they call us and let us know that they will be delayed. They did a good job. They were very professional and they knew what they were doing.

Steve first came to the house to inspect and diagnose problems with our new siding, new roof and new electrical heat tape. They were installed recently by another general contractor and were the cause of leak damage on the second floor of our house. Steve's diagnosis was perfect, and his advice on how to proceed was exceptional. He showed us how to get the other general contractor to respond to our inquiries. He also supervised the re-work. Steve's manner was both respectful and forceful throughout the process. His method was masterful. Before I met Steve, I had spent over 3 months meeting with other sub-contractors while attempting to gain the attention of the original contractor. Less than one week after Steve's involvement the work was scheduled. Having met and worked with numerous contractors over the years, there is no question that we'll be contracting with Steve for any future projects. His judgement, knowledge, talent and integrity are the best I've seen in this industry.
Description of Work: Inspected problematic work performed by another contractor. Provided expert counsel, guidance and supervision in enticing the other contractor to address our problems.

Steve and his crew are professional and responsive. He is also very compassionate. I had a challenging situation in that I was flying in from out of town to tackle a very needed and messy remodel at my father's home. I had a very small window of time in which to have a contractor come out, give and estimate and then start work and complete the job so that the carpet people could come in on schedule to install new carpet. Steve was understanding, responsive and extremely helpful in getting the right materials and crew there on time. He finished the work in a quality way, at a reasonable cost in in a timely manner. He went out of his way to squeeze our project into his schedule because he knew the difficulty we were facing with my elderly father and his living situation. I would recommend Steve to anyone. He also did a previous project on my father's house for my brothers under similar circumstances. We needed the roof repaired and he ended up having to do it in a storm! Steve is the best example of a hard working and dedicated business owner that I can think of. Use him!

Steve came out on short notice to repair a leaky roof on a steep farm house. The house was being damaged by the elements and Steve was extremely responsive and in fact ended up fixing the roof in the middle of a severe storm to prevent further damage. Steve is incredibly responsive and dedicated. And he does excellent work.

We had a skylight leak, and I called Steve, and he came right out to give us an estimate.
Description of Work: We got only an estimate from Steve. While we ultimately did not contract with him because the price was much higher than others' estimates, based on his careful look at the problem and his explanation of the procedure, I have no doubt that he is very knowledgeable and thorough in his work.

Steve and his team did an excellent job. My roof looks amazing and each step of the way I was confident the job was done right. Gabriel made sure the roof was properly installed and flashed. I used to be worried about leaks and other problems associated with an old cedar roof but now I sleep well even in the heaviest rain and strongest wind because I know my roof is going to withstand the harshest of conditions. Thanks Steve and Gab!

It was a wonderful experience and it was truly a great process from the design phase to completion.
Description of Work: Steve Marino construction did the complete remodel of our Whitefish Bay home. From the minute we met him we were impressed with his professionalism, honesty and genuine manner. Steve is a master builder who is both knowledgable and extremely dedicated to his job. He has a wonderful team of tradesmen and he leaves nothing unturned. Steve is incredibly flexible when it comes to fine tuning different solutions and he understands the building process from A to Z. He is incredibly fussy about how work is done, that it is completed on time and that his clients are happy. It is very rare to meet someone so genuinely competent, trustworthy and capable. We spent over $500,000 doing a remodel with him which included, new plumbing, electrical , flooring, drywall , new kitchen, bathrooms, basement remodel etc…. The house looks incredible and I am so impressed with his work I would only ever use Steve Marino in the future! One rarely goes through an 8 month remodel without an issue but we truly did!!! We highly recommend Steve Marino to you!
Our family has had the pleasure of working with Steve Marino and his team on three separate occasions over the years.First, with my brother's condo, the developer did a poor job sealing the electrical box on the roof and as a result, they had water entering into their bedroom wall and mold spreading within.Steve had the drywall removed; he had his mold specialist come in and remove all the damage. The drywall was replaced, and painted. Before this project began the entire room was sealed off from the rest of the condo and the floor was covered with a sticky material to keep the dust out of the other areas of the condo. It was a great job and Steve kept my brother and his wife informed every step of the way. A couple of years later we had to update our Mom's home to get it ready to be sold. Once again, we called upon Steve and his team. They replaced the roof and fixed the roofing ventilation issue in the middle of February to help us meet a short deadline. Additionally, we had Steve and his team paint the entire house, and replace the entire shower all the way down to the floor pan. Again he performed these requested tasks with a short lead time and an affordable budget. A month later when the home did not pass inspection for a few items, Steve was right there willing to assist us in any way. Steve and his team replaced the outdated electrical service with a new 100 AMP service, replacing a sump pump we thought was working and a few other miscellaneous plumping projects. Steve's work is of the highest quality. He is a leader, providing outstanding communication between his team and his customers; he frequently visits the job site making sure all work is performed to the highest quality; he provided status updates regularly and was very informative. His follow up to phone calls and email messages was outstanding, which was greatly appreciated. Steve is a perfectionist and his work illistrates it. He was a wonderful person to work with, a true professional! Our family highly recommeds Steve B. Marino (of Steve Marino Construction Management Corporation)

All work was completed per his estimate and on time.
Description of Work: When choosing a contractor to build a new home, add an addition, remodel a kitchen or repair defects left behind by a developer/builder, where do you find reliable references? The yellow pages, a neighbor that has had work done, or you may even turn to a web site that list's contractor services with references attached. After using several contractors and handyman services over the years, I have found that the phrase "quality work" has long been ignored! However, that is until we met Steve Marino from Steve Marino Construction Management. He and his crew have become a regular fixture here at out condo complex, replacing poorly constructed decks, repairing leaking windows, repairing water leaks caused by siding not being installed per manufactures instructions, and repairing roof leaks due to missing flashing. When trying to analyze a problem left behind by another builder the task becomes even more complex than building new. Steve, if necessary will call on his team of experts, a structural engineer or a mold specialist just to name a few, to assist him in preparing an estimate that will be fair and will last, not just put a band aide on the problem. When using Marino Construction Management you can be assured that you will get "QUALITY WORK".

To Start: they came to assess the project the day we called. Before we even decided that we were going to go with them, Steve told us what we could do to protect the inside of the house from further damage. Steve's crew on this job included Gabriel and Sergio. They were efficient, CLEAN, and extremely friendly. My husband can be quite inquisitive with repairs on our house and they were more than happy to explain each step they were doing and why. We have hired many contractors over the years and can honestly say we have never been more impressed then we were with Steve Marino and his crew. We also felt the price was more than fair. When our work was completed two of our neighbors even hired them for some work at their houses and have thanked us for the referral.
Description of Work: We had a roof leak into our home office and I called numerous contractors for bids. Most were quite unprofessional. Two didn't even show for up to give us estimates! We went with Steve after looking at Angie's list and were more than pleased. Not only did they show up when scheduled, but finished earlier than expected. They removed the entire flat roof including the decking. Re-built the entire roof structure including joists and flashing. Removed house siding where needed for extra flashing and returned to same. Replaced entire rubber roofing with all new materials. Repaired interior rooms plaster and drywall where water damaged had occurred. Removed all old rotted lumber and roofing materials. We were so happy with the job they had done we even hired them to put in a entry door to our garage. That entailed that a new hole be cut and door installed with new wood trim.

Steve Marino and his crew were everything that my wife and I could have asked for! See, we had a few other quotes from a few other contractors but we just didn't feel comfortable with the others. His quote was fair and honest and he called back the next day to see if we had any questions on the quote. (He was the only contractor to do that.) The day of the project, the guys were right on time. They got to work right away. We have had other contractors out to do other projects at our house, but these guys were by far the hardest working. My wife was very impressed as well. About an hour into the job, we received a phone call from Steve who was just cheecking in to make sure that everything was going ok for us and to answer any questions that we had. I will only work with Steve Marino and his crew at our house and on our projects. Thank you Steve!!tape
Description of Work: We had a slight roof leak in the corner of dining room. It was associated with a flashing issue on the roof line. The guys removed the alluminum siding carefully since it was going to back on at the end of the project. They replaced the damaged insulation, installed Tyvak house wrap, flashed the roof line, taped the dining room window. They removed and replaced the wooden studs which were black and wet. Thankfully, there was not alot of mold on anything but the studs which were being removed. Steve did say he calls out an expert on mold projects if needed, but the rotted studs were just in one small corner, so we did not think that it was necessary--but we appreciated his knowledge. Then they put the siding back in place and cleaned up.

I built my home in 2006-2007 and Steve was instrumental with it's management and completion. He handled the subs and reviewed their work to ensure that things were done correctly and to code. I had little to no issues with municipal home inspectors because things were completed correctly the first time. If there was an issue, the items in question were handled in a timely manner. He demonstrated excellent knowledge in all areas of the build. At one point he personally spent time cleaning the construction grounds. To date he's still available to get involved and answer questions for any of my home projects.

I had Steve Marino remodel my kitchen in January of 2011. His crew did a wonderful job! Steve told me that I would have cracking grout and that I should contact him when it happened. I did contact Steve 2 years later and he was more than happy to help. He went out and picked up the caulk that day and Chris came out to fix it the next day! Chris did a great job, but I didn't care for the shine of the caulk. I called Steve and he is sending Chris out again to dig out this new caulk and put in a different caulk that has a different finish. Steve is doing all of this at no charge! He is only concerned with my satisfaction. Thanks Steve!

We initially contacted Steve to quote us for our basement remodel project but when doing so he noticed a damp area in the corner of the ceiling in the basement. We investigated where this was coming from outside and Steve quickly figured out that this issue was actually a problem with the roof flashing (no kick flashing installed) and water was wicking down into the siding and eventually into the basement. Ultimately we did not hire Steve to finish our basement but we did hire him to repair this issue before basement work was started. Work was completed quickly and looks very professional and neat. After the work was complete he inspected the caulking and made his workers come back and fix the caulk because he said it was not up to his standards. Caulking job on the siding looks flawless and we have not had any leaking issues since the repair work.
Description of Work: Install kick flashing on the roof where it meets the siding by the garage and also by the front porch area. Repair water damaged siding and water seal moist corner of basement.

First and foremost, I am appalled at the reviews I read here, especially the condo water damage one. Steve does a great job and is highly recommended and regarded based on the fine work he did for us and will do in the future as he is now our "go to guy" for any future project. He is top class and well worth hiring. During the bidding, Steve impressed us by bringing along a structural engineer to inspect the site and project. Together Steve and Tom worked out a very viable option and we were sold. Although it took many months to complete, the results are stunning and surprisingly reasonable priced. Steve's crew did a fantastic job from start to finish. He added extra work to make sure the job was done right and didn't inflate the costs. He consulted with us as the project progressed and any changes were up to us and any additional costs were simply passed on and even some were thrown in no charge. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that Steve is in such demand that he has numerous projects going at the same time so there were spells when he was too busy to immediately respond to communication....but that's a good problem. The project was delayed at times due to his busy schedule and an injury off the job. Despite these things, Steve was quite attentive and professional and we trust him in every way in his work and opinions. He has a talented cast of subcontractors and we learned quite a lot about the work being done and who to use in the future for electrical, plumbing and painting work. Steve is A+ and we highly recommend him. we even used him to create a workout room in our unfinished basement and I will write a new review once that is completed.
Description of Work: We added a huge walk in closet above our garage and enlarged our master bathroom. This required transforming a truss supported garage roof to a rafter arrangement...loads of structural work was required. Associated with this major project, Steve also installed an exterior window, consulted with structural engineers, handled complicated issues that came up with the major renovation, added an attic storage space over unused areas of garage attic, installed an attic lift, managed the project by sub contracting out the electrical, plumbing, tile and paint work. This project took 6 months to finish and we couldn't be more pleased.

I appreciate the time that Steve took to explain in detail his estimate. I was handed other estimates with just a number with no other explanations. Steve went through every step and explained how and why every thing was done. This helped me understand the cost and the amount of work that goes into the job. Gabriel was such a pleasure to work with! He was very professional and explained to us every day what they were doing. I was a little worried about snow but it didn't hold the job up at all. I have heard stories about how much of a mess is left after a roofing job, but I was amazed how clean my yard and driveway were when they were done. They spent time at the end of each day to make sure everything was clean. I had concerns about the nails in my driveway and yard, but they went above and beyond to make sure there wasn't a single nail left behind. I would recommend Steve Marino and Gabriel to any one who needs to have any roofing done.
Description of Work: Steve removed two layers of shingles on our 100 year old house and then installed new dimensional shingles. They also had to replace some of the rotten roof boards that were under the shingles.

Unsatisfactory, from beginning, put most certainly, to the end.
Description of Work: This company was contracted by our condo association board and property mananger to correct years of damage that was created by water infiltration into our unit from an outside siding leak. We did not have any input into funding this project. Mr. Marino does not, to our knowledge, actually employ a staff, instead he hires out sub-contractors for all of the necessary work required. He is not proficient at orchestrating these sub-contractors to ensure a continous repair and replace process. He is not proficient in ensuring product is on-site when needed, prior to the sub-contractor arriving to complete their portion of the repairs. He did not call for inspections in a timely manner. He extended what should have been a 3 week project to a 4 month project. He became beligerent when errors occurred during the completion process, to the point of blaming us, the condo owner, for causing the errors and unacceptable repairs. As the project manager, he did not spend enough time on-site, to ensure that material and sub-contractors were working in a timely manner.

Water from the condo unit above us leaked down into our utility closet, clothes closet and bathroom. I used an environmental consultant that Steve Marino works with to determine where water had actually saturated drywall and what needed to be replaced. (GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. They did a great job, too...but that's another review.) A few weeks later, after attempting to settle the claim directly with the above unit owner's insurance, it was decided that I should file a claim through my own insurance company and they would recover our losses from the upper. I had a question about this for GZA and called. My consultant there, Pat, immediately wanted to be here when my insurance adjuster came, just in case he could help. Unfortunately, he already had another appointment. I said it was alright and that I felt I could take care of the details. He then offered to call Steve to see if he could be here for it. I said no need to trouble him, I'll take care of it and call if I have concerns. The next day, about 5 minutes before my insurance adjuster was due to arrive, my doorbell rings. And there is Steve Marino! He explained that Pat had called him, since he couldn't make it himself, and he was here "just in case". He stayed for the meeting with the insurance adjuster and offered suggestions, etc. I really appreciated having his expertise there to help make sure repairs are done correctly to avoid possible problems later on. As I've always said about Steve Marino, he really cares! And he only works with the best contractors. GZA GeoEnvironmental is a good example of this.
Description of Work: Steve provided consultation as we work through an unexpected repair. There was water damage to our condo from the unit above (they're responsible for repairs). In an effort to help determine the true scope/cost of repairs needed, he offered input and recommendations without actually being hired to head the project . As usual, he really cares about his clients and wants their homes to be well maintained and enjoyable. The situation is ongoing and I have since requested a proposal from him to complete said project. Having successfully worked with him in the past, I have every confidence in his judgement moving forward.

My husband and I were looking to make some substantial improvements to our kitchen. I looked on Angie's List at kitchen and bath remodel companies with good reviews and Steve Marino Construction had some of the better views I had seen. I did see more than a few reviews relating to unresponsiveness, but decided to give them a chance to provide an estimate anyway. I called vendor on 5/23/2012 and left a voicemail. I followed up with an email on 5/25/2012. I tried calling again on 5/29, 5/30 and 5/31 and each time was unable to leave a voicemail because the voicemail box was full. The voicemail greeting did not say anything about them being closed for any reason. To me, this is not a good sign. I still have not received a call from them and we decided to go with Banner Builders instead for our remodel.
Description of Work: We did not have any work completed by Steve Marino Construction. We were looking for an estimate to have some substantial work done to our kitchen. I called for an estimate and did not get any response, even after several follow-ups on my part.

Made an appointment for an estimate on some remodeling work. A representative came to my house and discussed options and said he would get back to me with options for me to consider. He even went to the city building inspector to review the drawings of my house. Never heard from him again. If he thought the job was too small or if he just wasn't interested in the work, the professional and courteous way to handle it would've been for him to let me know. Instead I never heard from him again. Not sure about the quality of the company's work, but their customer service and relationship abilities are lacking.
My husband and I were looking at purchasing a new home and wanted 2nd opinion on two houses needing a lot of work. I called several general remodeling companies and ultimately decided to meet up with Steve since he had the best overall reviews on angieslist. Steve came to look at the 2 houses on two different days, was very punctual, professional courteous and was very knowledgeable in finding issues with the house. I would definitely use him again and consider him for the job after acwe buy the housea.
