The work is perfect. We have an older home and it is difficult to get anything perfect but Bob's team has worked miracles on both my kitchen remodel and now my storm door replacement.
Description of Work: Original project was kitchen remodel and today storm door replacement

Sawfish built our house, which we bought from a previous owner who did a tear down then flip. They generally did a good job on our house. Due to this, we hired them to replace a bank of windows with french doors. The company they had us go through to order the door caused over a month of delays in even getting the order in. There was no help from Sawfish expediting this processes. When I asked to go with someone else because of the delays, they stood behind their people. Sawfish did not arrive to start the project the day they said they would as confirmed in multiple emails. I took off work for this and my wife and baby had arranged to be out of town for the start. Once starting, they realized they remembered the structure of the wall differently, so there would be an additional $1000 added to the bill. If they would have referenced their own blueprints from 1 year prior (when the house was built) this wouldn't have been a surprise when they put a hold into the wall. After the hole was made in our house for the door, they realized the wrong door size was ordered. It took another month to get the correct door frame in place. They did a poor job coordinating with their sub-contractors (electrician) to get the outdoor light placed in a timely manner. A project that we were told would only take a couple of days took months and was hugely disruptive to our family. Instead of apologizing and / or a discount, they gave us a bill significantly increased over the original quote and blamed the door guy for all the problems rather than taking responsibility. This all delayed our landscapers resulting in a summer with a new patio lost. Very frustrating; hugely disappointing.

Description of Work: Tore out existing concrete stairs and brick pillars. Poured new concrete cap on front porch, poured new concrete stairs, rebuilt brick pillars, re-roofed 2nd floor porch roof (epdm), built new porch railing for 2nd floor porch. | |Work was very good, responsiveness to finish a few small items could have been a little better. Overall, great experience. I have referred them to several people, and I will use them again!

They were professional and the price was very competitive. I didn't use them because I spent $15 on a sewer ladder. As soon as I have the money for the porch that's the contractor I would intend to use.
Description of Work: Sawfish General Contracting, LLC gave me a quote to build front porch and brick pillars.

We are just on the beginning stages of a complete house upgrade OR perhaps a teardown of the old house and starting over on a clean slate. Our meeting with the contractor and archetect was very enlightening, especially since we had not considered the possibility of ultimately having a totally new house ( up to code with all new plumbing, wiring and a floor plan not restricted by the existing walls) as opposed to a makeover of an unimpressive workingman's cottage that is over 100 years old ( but without historic preservation value and very old wiring). While we were aware that the location and property were probably more valueable than the house itself, starting over didn;t really seem like a viable option. Now it sounds like the end cost of a teardown/startover would be close to the same as a makeover using the existing footprint in the end, but the new house would have a much greater resale value and could truely be customized to our long-term needs. We are now at the decison point of contracting the archetect to show us a comparison of possible scenarios ( new vs. makeover) and costs.
Description of Work: We have had one initial meeting with the Sawfish contractor and archetect to walk through our existing house and brainstorm on the possibilities for a full make-over inside and out, and that is what the above reviews reflect so far. Both representatives genuinely understood what we were trying to achieve, we're very knowledgeable and sensitive to our vision and actually came up with ideas beyond what we even had considered. Our target for completion is June 2014, so this is the very early stages of planning. So far we're very satisified with the service, how they actually listened to us, and plan to continue the process with Sawfish.

The job went great and the quality was great. Everything went so smoothly that I couldn't point out any problems or anything. The manager and workers were respectful. They cleaned up and did what they said they would do. I felt they really took care of me while they were here.
Description of Work: We had a 2 story addition put on our house.

We have two bathrooms in our home so remodeling this bathroom was not as much of a hardship as it would have been if there had only been one. Work proceeded as promised though it took a little longer than originally thought. Crew respectful; non-smokers; diligent. Contractor has good working/respectful relationship with Milwaukee city inspectors. I have used Sawfish Contracting for all of my private home and business remodeling jobs over the last ten years, totaling over one-half million dollars. Too bad Bob was not in business 25 years ago when I hired other contractors for attic and basement remodels without the same positive results. I recommend Bob Nash without reservation.
Description of Work: New bathroom. Walls down to studs. All new plumbing with floor excavation for new drains. New toilet; enlarged tiled shower; make-up vanity; vanity; towel warmer; room heater; walk-in tub and larger water heater. Floors and walls all tiled. A large portion of the expense of this remodel was in fixtures, tile and upgraded cabinetry.

When a different contractor repeatedly failed to show up for our porch rebuild job and the window of time for this work was narrow, we were referred by a lumber company to Bob Nash. We'd purchased some parts already, but when codes threatened to reverse their decision on rail height, Bob immediately called the right inspector & solved the problem in one call. Working with codes is his strong suit. Bob is not cheap, but gives a "not more than" quote on labor, so there are no escalating surprises there. Quality of work was great, he was always on site when needed, reachable quickly by phone, flexible in problem-solving. He was OK with us doing some pre-painting work (sealing, priming)ourselves. Later when our home sale hinged on cost of 3rd floor code work, he attended a variance request meeting with me, resulting in $5500 saved. Bob completed code work for new owners paid by us but pleasing them; a tricky psychological situation. Bob seems up for any challenge!
Description of Work: Removed rotting front & side porches on 1890's house, rebuilt in period style; over $20,000. Met with inspectors & gave emergency quote when house was for sale and discovery was made of non-code compliant work on 3rd floor (not his work). Code work was done after new owners had purchased home; he installed a spiral stair access to 3rd floor, plus sub-contracted electrical & plumbing work; $9210.

Mr. Nash did an excellent job rough framing my new house. Everything was plumb and square which saved me a lot of time doing the finish work on the inside of my house. Even though he started a week late he was able to finish on schedule. Excellent work.
Description of Work: Sawfish construction built the structure for our new residence. He also installed all the exterior doors and windows.
