Mr. Anderson showed up on-time, laid out exactly what he was going to do and advised me of the portions for which he suggested that one of us join. At each point that we were with him he was thorough and explained everything in terms that were easily understandable. Each time he found something he was sure to explain whether it was a violation of code implemented after the house was built or a suggestion from him personally. For instance, the front stoop being 8 inches high is now considered a code violation but having dirt against the foundation is not, although he strongly suggested digging it up, laying plastic and putting rocks in those areas in order to avoid foundation issues. He took pictures of each item that had issues and even many that did not. Within a couple of days I received a PDF document detailing his findings along with a summary page, all of which I was able to forward directly to our realtor. I would like to add that he gave us great suggestions regarding our basement wall, which was just over an inch bowed. He said to call in an engineer to find out the extent of the problem and what will be needed to fix it and then use that information to go through separate contractors as to separate the functions. I didn't pay for or expect that kind of information but it was readily available. One thing that really impressed me was when we discussed doing a radon test he directed me to a home test kit from Home Depot! He said that it would be much cheaper and just as effective, truly a stand-up guy. Lastly, I spoke with his wife/receptionist by phone on a couple of occasions and she was courteous and quick to accept a coupon that I had obtained from Angie's List. He was busy but she was able to find an appointment within a week. I would definitely recommend them to others for future inspections.

Donn Anderson was very thorough and professional. He reviewed what the inspection did and not include, and what he would be looking for. Donn spent over four hours with me as he did the inspection. He found several structural issues which needed repair. Donn also pointed out several maintainance concerns, and suggested corrections. We were able to use this information to adjust the purchase price of the home. He provided a binder containing the inspection, a guide to home maintainance, and suggested resources. We were impressed with Donn's service, and hired him to do an inspection of our current home, prior to putting it on the market. I have recommended his company to other home buyers.

The inspection was very thorough and the report was very detailed. The inspector took his time and explained every little detail about what he was checking and how to maintain everything in the future. We learned a lot from the inspector as this was our first home. Mr. Anderson arrived on time and verbally discussed what he was going to do, explained the limitations of the inspection and the professional standards he was working under. During the inspection Mr. Anderson walked on the roof; crawled throughout the attic; tested the plumbing and electrical systems throughout the condo. He was thorough and explained to the buyers [me and my wife] when he discovered a deficiency. By 11:00 p.m. that night we had received via email a report including pictures describing the condition of the residence according to his inspection.

Donn inspected a home we're planning on purchasing in Grafton. We had no problems setting up a day and time for the home inspection. On the day of the inspection, he was running a couple minutes late due to traffic, so he called us ahead of time to let us know and apologize. As it turned out, he arrived less than one minute after we did. Donn first sat down with us an explained the scope of the work he was about to perform and answered any questions we had. We'd been through two inspections in the past, so we were mostly familiar with what to expect. He also provided a binder with a pen and paper for notes, an envelope to keep future work receipts, and about 50 pages of general maintenance information and guidelines useful for any new or experienced homeowner. Once he began the inspection, we spent about 3 hours going around the outside and inside of the property and discussing what he was seeing with each system. The property we are purchasing was built in 2004 and appears to have been built well, so a majority of our conversations were about how to best maintain it or address cosmetic/minor issues. When we had questions about a particular system, Donn spent the time to go into greater detail or share tips on how to get the most life out of it. When he did find a substantial concern with the HVAC system, he made certain we saw the symptoms ourselves and we were clear about what type of specialist and service we needed to follow up with. On his recommendation, we set up the appointment with a local HVAC company that same afternoon for a more in-depth diagnosis of the problem. As promised, Donn delivered both a summary and detailed report via email the evening of our inspection day. The summary report was a clear list of things to be focused on during our inspection clause period. The detailed report contained all of the items we'd discussed in person (and more), along with photos of the system or issue mentioned and maintenance tips for the future. Overall, we were extremely happy with the inspection that Donn performed for us. He was very personable and easy to work with, and was able to explain system concepts to us in a clear and helpful way. Donn made sure we were getting a house we'd be happy with after the purchase and for years to come, by highlighting those items that could become expensive problems and educating us on good maintenance to avoid new ones occurring as much as possible. I made an appointment with Donn for a home inspection on Friday and was very pleased with his services. He was very punctual - early in fact, as he knew we had a wedding to attend that evening. He was also professional, extremely thorough, and answered every question asked. He looked at our foreclosure (which already had its own issues) and even faced difficult circumstances with a water meter that had not been turned on (but was supposed to have been) and did everything in his power to ensure that our inspection went on as planned. We would definitely recommend and use Donn again!

Donn placed the radon testing equipment prior to the scheduled inspection so that on the day of inspection the radon results were available. Donn spent over 2 hours inspecting the home. By midnight of the same day the detailed report was available on pdf.

I first used Donn for a Home Inspection for a house we are purchasing. I came off an extremely disappointing experience with a home inspector three years ago so was looking for a professional that was highly regarded. Donn didn't disappoint. He was extremely detailed, informative, and very open to having me follow him around for 3-4 hours. He is on your side, no one else's, and is focused on making sure we don't fall prey to issues down the road or getting bad advice from other biased parties. I was so impressed that I then asked him to come and take a look at our current house, with the mindset that if it can pass his muster I don't have to worry too much about whatever inspector the eventual buyer would use. He was very helpful, and has gone as far as advising me with (non-) issues that the buyer's inspector brought up. Would highly recommend.

A few weeks ago I looked up home inspectors on Angie's List. Under the terms of the purchase contract, I had twelve days from acceptance to get an inspection. I contacted Anderson home inspections and they sent me out a summary of the work they would do along with a copy of the Wisconsin inspection codes. I read the code - it was long but not too difficult except if it is your first time reading it you might not connect all the parts in your mind - I apparently didn't. I never spoke with Mr. Anderson, only his office assistant. Anyway I gave the office assistant my credit card number and she scheduled the appointment. I then emailed Mr. Anderson to request that he please check all the receptacles since there were only about ten or twelve In the entire small apartment. I also asked him to please bring a bucket so he could check the faucet in the laundry area. There is no laundry sink in that area; the faucet will hook to a washer once we get one. Mr. Anderson wrote me back to advise me that I should have read the code and that since he builds his reputation on meeting the expectations of his customers, he could not work for me because he did not feel confident he could meet my expectations. I certainly don't believe my requests made me high-maintenance, but apparently Mr. Anderson did. Since the appointment had been scheduled and my realtor had scheduled this time frame to meet with the inspector, we had a heck of a time finding someone else reliable who old to the job in the same time slot. I heard from our new inspector that Anderson had a good reputation in the industry. In my experience, if you cannot keep from asking too many questions beforehand, don't bother to call Anderson.

Donn was extremely pleasant to work with! He performed a home inspection and radon testing for a house that we were looking to purchase. He's very knowledgeable with every aspect that home inspections entail and goes above and beyond to help you understand what he finds. Normally a home inspection in done by the buyer. I did this as a potential seller to avoid any surprises. Don did a professional job as a home inspector by giving a fair inspection and what could be pointed out by a buyers inspector with a different interest

I have used Don for home inspection twice and radon testing once. Unfortunately, the first home I made an offer on had some serious issues discovered on inspection. From foundation problems to possible water damage inside the exterior walls and a roof that was way past it's time. Don brought out his infrared camera to photograph the exterior walls of the house, only to show that the insulation inside them was nearly obsolete. During both inspections, Don was very informative and explained the possible remedies for the issues that he found. Highly recommended for all, especially for the first time home buyer. Don provides an inspection manual/binder so you can take notes as you walk through with him. The binder also contains a variety of information on how to care for your home and regular maintenance. You also get a very detailed inspection report within 24-48hrs of inspection. As long as I am living in the area, I will always go back to Don for my inspection needs. Each time, he has shown up on time or early. Making an appointment was easy.

Donn provided us with an excellent home inspection. He brought several items to our attention that we chose to have follow up inspections done so we were certain about our decision to buy the house. The inspection took over 2 hours, and it was time well spent. He answered all of our questions, and our realtor's too. We never felt like we were bothering him, and he seemed happy to educate us. He also responded to all of our email questions and concerns promptly, even after the inspection was over. Donn provided a lengthy report and summary of the state of the house, electric, grounds, heating, and may other things. He was very thorough. Also, Donn provides a list of companies he recommends should you need work done, and a list of suggested annual maintenance, both of which are very helpful. He might be more expensive than other home inspectors, but spending the money to get a quality inspection is worth it, to make sure you know what you are getting when you purchase a home. We will definitely use Donn again.

after finding anderson home inspection on Angie's List, i called to set-up an appointment for our new home. because we are closing very quickly, i was in need of a quick inspection, and AHI was able to schedule my home very quickly. they were very nice and professional on the phone and email. they worked with our realtor to set-up radon testing days before so those test results were available the day of the home inspection. when we met Donn at the home, he was very polite and professional. he sat down with us to explain his process and what he would be looking for in his inspection. he provided us a binder with great information on his work and for us to reference during our annual inspections on the house as the homeowners. he also made himself available to call him anytime in the future if we ever have any questions or concerns. after he did his inspection, he had his report to us well within 6 hours!!! (thx Donn!) and his report was thorough and detailed with images and maintenance tips and links to useful websites for additional information. the ENTIRE experience was smooth, complete and well worth any price he would have charged me! as far as we are concerned, there is no other home inspector in the milwaukee area to hire! great work Donn and anderson home inspection!!!

I was purchasing a home, Donn was WONDERFUL. He conducted a thorough inspection of the home, and I learned a lot in the process and my new home. Unlike a previous inspector, as we walked thru the home he encouraged questions and always stopped to answer any question we brought up as clearly as possible. He provided us with a binder which showed what he was looking for, what positive outcome would be and what would cause a red-flag for him.
