+ 0 moreMason Dorn was easy to reach by cell and email and responded promptly. Despite his busy schedule during the past winter, he was able to haul his bobcat to our property to remove the immense amount of snow after the onslaught of snowstorms. He also continued to remove snow during the remainder of the winter season. He charges $40 per job for 1-3 inches and then $3.50 per inch thereafter which is pretty reasonable when compared to other companies. We appreciated his dependability, flexiblity and willingness to work with our schedule constraints. He doesn't accept credit cards (understandable for a small company) and bills once a month.
Description of Work: Mason Dorn removed 20+ inches of snow ( with a bobcat) from our suburban home driveway and walkway (no sidewalk) after a huge snow storm.

+ -1 moreI was soured by the final cost and the proliferation of thistle.
Description of Work: The primary problem was with the estimate, it was deceptive as to what the final cost would be. We had gathered at least 6 estimates that all estimated 12-15 yards of soil required to repair our yard which had been damaged from replacing a septic system. Dorn's estimate recommended 130 yards. The estimate was never clarified or signed before the work was begun. Other estimates were around $1500, so it was a terrible surprise when the bill came for $3,000 and I was expecting something closer to the numbers on the estimate (around $1,000). We ended up settling the case in small claims court. A lot of dirt was put down with seed and straw, unfortunately a lot of thistle was thriving by August (the job was done in July).

We discussed my list of tasks and agreed to a time and materials arrangement, with a sanity check on the total after a few days progress. The crew made excellent progress the first few days, within a reasonable budget, so I added some tasks to the job. They were here about 5 days, always left the site clean and were friendly and courteous throughout. I am thrilled with the results.
Description of Work: Mason and his crew created a retaining wall with landscape timbers on a tricky slope, installed landscape edging in two areas and filled them with stone ground cover, laid flat steppers in two areas, created a zen garden with a stone stepper path and pea gravel, weeded and wood mulched a large wooded area, filled in and spread grass seed in drainage ruts and planted/replanted several plants.
