Ok, Here we go. We got a new shower form Mad City installed. We were able to negotiate a price that was reasonable and setup the install. We were promised it would be done in 1 day. Day 1: The installer showed up 3 hrs late. This was due to the original team scheduled for our install being called to help on another (more expensive) install. So instead of a 2 man team we got an individual. Needless to say he didn't even get through the full demo of the old shower before he left at 6 pm. I had to take an unexpected 2nd day off from work. Day 2: 8:00am - The installer arrived (as promised) and got to work. Noon - Things appear to be progressing and nothing extra was needed (no mold or rotting wood etc.). 3:00 pm - Still going, no issues but the lack of man power is becoming apparent and he is falling behind (and getting tired). 6:00 pm - Still going. I cannot take another day off of work so i tell the installer to keep going. 9:00 pm - We buy him dinner so we don't have to eat in front of him (he was quite visibly exhausted and obviously hungry). At this point we are quite ****** as we had plans to go out. Midnight - STILL going. The rest of my family is in bed. Again this cannot go another day (we don't have a shower! cant take off of work etc.) so this has to get done. Neighbors are ****** due to the continued sawing etc. 3:00am - it is 3am... I start getting ready for work in 3 1/2 hours, and this guy is still in my house. He finishes around 3:45am. I'm not sure this even counts as a 2 day install. What do we get in compensation? NOT A **** THING. I will admit the shower is nice and we are happy with it. so we chalk it all up to "**** happens" We agree to order a single window from Mad City to lock in a price. I tell the sales guy we will not be ready to install this until summer (it was December) and he says "of course, that is not a problem.. anytime in the next year". The window was under 1k installed and I decide to finance as later we plan to do the rest of the windows with the locked price. He run credit etc. all is well. Issue 1: He opened a credit line for $4500 ! the window was less then 1k... I was going to overlook this but after current events (keep reading) I am going to take legal action here. January rolls around and we get a called that our order is in and they want to setup the install. I remind them again that we are not planning to do anything until summer "no problem" they say. Repeat the above in February. Issue 2: Here we are in march. I get an invoice for $250 for 'storage fees'. nope. just nope. I take the invoice to Mad City Windows to inquire and this is where I discover the kind of people I'm dealing with. You see my Wife has Cancer. at the time of my visit to Mad City she had undergone 1 surgery and is recovering for a second surgery before starting Chemo. What does this have to do with windows? let's read on shall we? The kicker: I explain everything up this point to the lady at the desk. she brings up my account and says "your contract doesn't show this and the fees are because the longer the window is here the bigger chance there is of it getting broken." I say well no problem, i will be happy to take the window and store it in my garage. She laughs, and ignores it and says" you have to have it installed in March or you will keep getting fees". I explain to the person that my wife is in-between Cancer surgeries and its not a good time for there to be a hole in the house. Her companionate response? "the hole will only be open for 30 min, it will be fine." wait WHAT? I say, "Look, my wife is recovering from CANCER SURGERY! It is not a good time to have people in my HOUSE!" , to which i get "Well they will only be there for 2 or 3 hours..." Yeah, i have had experience with their install timelines but WHO CARES! She had the nerve to continue with "and then you will get a chance to see the install process for when we do the rest of your windows". It is about all I can do to keep from going ballistic. I have never seen such a lack of human compassion outside of monsters you read about in the news. I schedule the install of the 1 window out of shock while holding back tears. what in the actual F just happened. It is also worth noting that the cancer diagnosis was not made until the end of Feb. This all came up unexpectedly. A 1 week post-op Cancer patient doesn't want you in their home, and you force the install to happen or threaten to continue charging fees??? There is nothing about this that is right. Today is 3-20. My wife's next surgery is 3-24. They are installing the window on 3-23. I will be inviting all local news stations to come and have a chat with the champions of Mad City Windows during the install. I did tell the lady at the desk that I would be inviting the media and to make sure to prep the installers for questions. If they say they don't know anything about it - they are just once again showing exactly what they are made of.

Description of Work: This business replaced 2 garage Windows and a very large family room window for us. The workers made sure everything was correct and sent a worker to stain and finish a molding that was not stained and also to replace a part that had a small dent in it. They also disposed of the old windows and cleaned up any mess. We are very pleased with the work.

Description of Work: Rescheduled appointment twice. Tore into existing wood trim around windows. Did not clean windows after installation, left full of streaks and fingerprints. Did not ensure screens were fitted properly, causing two to fall out upon opening windows.

Description of Work: Workers were polite, cleaned up after themselves and the job was very well done. The glass for the shower door had been measured incorrectly therefore did not fit, when they came back weeks later the glass had this time been cut incorrectly by their provider. A few more weeks went by and it is now all done perfectly. Nothing to complain about. Representative gave a very hard sell, took him 3 hours to convince me to buythe service at too high a price, but he worked with me after and reduced the price. |
