+ -1 moreIt all went very well, especially given that Bruce Czaja's crew came in from a 3 hour drive away. His team was very professional and focused on their work. I was impressed by their dedication and attention to detail. Bruce's crew packed well, bringing what they needed, and cleaned up the site when finished. They even hauled their garbage back to Tomahawk! Bruce worked hard to make sure that the deck and screen porch would hold up over time with a lot of preplanning and help from the Tomahawk Lumber Co with the truss engineering. I think that we will enjoy our decks for many years to come! Thank you Bruce!
Description of Work: We added two decks to our beach house that faces the north west winds on the shore of Lake Superior. It is a rugged environment that receives 200 to 300 inches of snow a year and winds up to 50MPH. I needed decks that could withstand the deep snow loads and drifts of winter, yet be very comfortable in the summer season. We decided on Trex decking and a screened porch covered in steel siding. The roof of the screened porch was engineered to handle heavy ice loads. Pressure treated wood was used up to 8 feet off of the ground due to the melting of snow drifts. Screen windows had to pop out so they wouldn't be pushed in by the deep snow. All footings were covered in steel and a summer shower platform was constructed at the base of the staircase to minimize sand coming into the house.
