+ 0 moreOur under-the-sink garbage disposal (installed by Action Plumbing five years ago) split its plastic case and started spitting water like an elephant on steroids. It wasn't an emergency, because we could still use the sink if we put a pan under the leak. We called a few days later, they came, the problem was fixed in half-an-hour ? for $300. They're good, but they do charge a big mark up on the products they sell and they don't do you any favors on labor charges.

Description of Work: The plumber serviced our reverse osmosis water system, changed filters, cleaned tank etc. This must be done once each year. He also installed a new faucet in the laundry tub in the basement. I had him look at the backflow preventer for our irrigation system on this visit. It was leaking. He ordered a new one and returned to install it on Nov. 8, 2012.

+ -1 moreWe have used Action Plumbing for a number of other jobs from broken faucets to severely plugged drains. They also did our recent furnace/AC inspection. We never felt that they over charged or did anything but a great job for us. We called them when we needed a new gas line run from the basement to the kitchen to hook up our new gas range. We also purchased a new above stove microwave. exhaust system and needed the venting installed from the kitchen cabinet through the roof. These jobs were bid, and 5 days later an Action serviceman showed up, on time as planned, and completed the job. No problems. Very clean. Very well done as we have always experienced with this company.
Description of Work: Ran gas line from basement to kitchen. Ran vent from our new above range microwave/exhaust system through the roof.

I've used this company several times and will use them again. All plumbers are pricey... so I expected the price that I got.

Stated that they would call me with a bid price; without looking at the home or seeing the difficulty of the project. I never heard from them again.

+ 0 moreEverything wen't perfectly. Installers came precisely on time. They explained every part of the procedure. They walked me through the whole installation. Within a few hours, we had our central AC in place and our house was cooling. They checked our duct work and answered a few of my duct questions. I couldn't have been happier with the whole experience, except for the central air unit dying. I would absolutely use the company again. They were fast and professional. Fantastic job
Description of Work: On one of the hottest Sunday's of the year, our central AC died. A tech came out on Sunday morning and got us going again. He told us our AC was shot and probably wouldn't last the day. We got scheduled for Monday to replace the central AC.

+ 2 moreChris showed up within 1-1/2 hrs of my frantic Sat. AM call about water backed up in basement. He was courteous and professional. He diagnosed the problem immediately, proceeded to resolve by clearing tree roots out of main line between house and street, offered the option of putting a camera through the pipe to determine if other problem areas existed -- at a reasonable extra cost -- which I opted to do for peace of mind. I will be having annual maintenance w/Action Plumbing to clear out tree roots and prevent future problems. On an unrelated matter, Action Plumbing replaced my old/malfunctioning water softener about 6 weeks ago when the water pressure in house had deteriorated to a trickle. They arrived promptly, replaced the softener professionally, and I was very pleased w/both service and product. AND next week I'll have them do a basic furnace tune-up, at a very reasonable estimate!
Description of Work: Located source of basement water back-up: tree roots clogging line between house and street. Cleared out line all the way to the street. problem solved.

+ -1 moreI called Action Plumbing and they were able to come out the same day. The technician was very helpful and explained exactly what he needed to do to fix the problem and why. He detailed fully the costs involved prior to starting any work. He was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. WIthin the hour, our AC was working again. I have never had a bad experience with Action Plumbing & AC. They are great and I would highly recommend them.

+ 0 moreAction Heating staff knew exactly what I needed when I placed the call to replace the water heater fan, but arrived to repair the fan "without" a new fan and had to go back to the shop to get one. The "meter continued to tick" and labor was being charged to me for the entire time the tech arrived at my home, left to get the fan at the shop, and drove back to my house. Totally unacceptable.Then the tech took it upon himself to decide to change the vent pipe leading from the heater to outside....our home was only 6 yrs old and it was inspected at the time of construction / completion so the venting pipe was sufficient. and up to code. More labor and equipment / supplies were added to the invoice. Total bill came to over $900 for a fan replacement. I stopped my credit card pmt and Action was willing to negotiate a reduced price. It was a very unpleasant experience and I will never have them back in my house again. Their advertisement of no travel is bogus.....they hide the cost in unnecessary labor and supplies.

After discussing the faucet issue with my husband, it was decided that the whole faucet should be replaced rather than rebuilt. Once again, I like the friendly, quick service and am willing to pay a little extra for it.

+ 1 moreThey took a long lunch and tried to charge us when they weren't here. At the end of the day, I was so upset with them and told them I'd be talking to a lawyer and wasn't paying anything that night and needed a breakdown of the bill. The manager Andy said ok. I was in a hurry trying to take my son to an appointment and the lead worker still tried to have me sign something in the dark, as I'm walking to my car. I wasn't signing anything in the dark after the manager agreed to let me do it the next day.
Description of Work: Our sewer pipes backed up into our basement and I called Action because we had used them before and I don't remember there being any issues. Long story short, they found a break in the pipe in the middle of our yard and the entire sewer pipe from the street to our house had to be replaced, including some pipe under concrete floor in our house. They said it was $360/hr for the backhoe/labor to replace this. They mentioned that there is always a possibility that they could accidentally break the water line too while digging but that it was "all part of the service call". I guess I should have asked for better clarification on that phrase before I had them do the work. Although, even after the fact they couldnt explain to me what that meant. The bottom line is, they broke the water line and they were going to make us pay to replace it. I was NOT told that WE would have to pay if THEY broke it. They did not draw up any kind of contract for this work (which again, I realized after the fact was strange). The workers also tracked in a lot of mud/sewer dirt all over our basement and carpeted steps. They did agree to pay stanley steamer to clean carpets (although stanley steamer is sending us the bills, even after I gave the bill to Action). They left our yard a huge mess. They left a big hole right up by our house so when it rains the water will run directly down to our foundation, and a big hole by the street. I understand the dirt takes time to settle, but this was unprofessional. They said they'd come back but never did. They took forever to get a bill breakdown sent to our insurance company as well.

+ -1 moreI wasn't happy with their prices. They came to fix a problem, and they didn't fix it. They ordered the part that was needed to be replaced. Instead of using the charge from the previous visit, they charged me on top of that to install it. I wouldn't use them again. While they were working on the toilet, the part wasn't in there quite right. I had to tell the plumber to rotate it in one direction to create clearance.

Description of Work: This is the second time that i have had to call Action, and they are just a wonderful company. Our water heater actually exploded, water everywhere....they were on their way over within an hour, and had totally replaced our water heater and cleaned everything up. I don't usually get excited about a plumber, but I will say that I love this company. They are in my permanent Rolodex.
