Tom needed quite a bit of patience to deal with us, since we changed our mind a number of times about quite a few of the projects we engaged him to undertake. He is reliable, trustworthy, and punctual. He will work with you to establish a reasonable budget to accomplish what you want to have done. And he will come up with creative alternatives and/or options to both reduce costs and get a bigger bang for your buck. On our first project with Tom -- an older, neglected, single-family house that had been converted to a duplex and then back to a single family home-- Tom tore out the old kitchen and added a new and much better one. He replaced the tiniest shower in the world with a modern, spacious one that doubles as a dressing room. Along the way, he did many of the menial and tedious tasks that one tends to forget about when working with older properties. Ultimately, we had a comfortable complex that we used as a vacation home (downstairs) and a guest apartment upstairs. Now, we're renting out both units. Thanks, in good measure, to Tom's involvement, the property showed and functioned well. We engaged Tom's services again to make an older home with good bones fit for our more modern needs and tastes. Tom took down unnecessary closets... removed nasty old carpeting and linoleum... painted... added a decorative glass and ceramic brick back splash in the kitchen... created an ideal fenced in area (with two gates) for our dogs... modernized an older bathtub by adding a shower and side panels... and did a bunch of other fix-it/build-it jobs for us. From and quot;soup to nuts, and quot; everything was completed within about one month and -- including all materials -- cost us about $8,000. Tom asks for no money and quot;upfront, and quot; which is the way reputable trades people used to work. Periodically, he would present us with a detailed analysis of his time, materials, and any other expenses that contributed to our bottom line.
Description of Work: We've used Tom on two of our properties now, a rental duplex and an older farmhouse that's now our primary residence. From redoing our kitchen to painting and plumbing... and from renovations to renaissances... Tom has completed quite a number of projects for us--all on time and within budget.
