 + 4 moreJon did a fantastic job on three major projects on the exterior of my house in the past year. He works extremely hard, he is committed to doing things the right way, he is a pleasure to work with, and he charges fair prices (when I have sought bids from others, his quote was significantly cheaper). Honestly, I was quite surprised to read a negative review of his services--I suspect it reflects the exception rather than the rule. To be sure, Jon has a somewhat laid-back style and manner of speech. But don't let that fool you--his work ethic and quality of workmanship are impressive. And sure, unless you request it, he probably won't type up a detailed quote on company letterhead. But his results are extremely professional. I plan on hiring him again in the next few weeks to rebuild my front porch stoop.

 + 0 moreNightmare experience with such a rude and unprofessional contractor. Whined about everything. John came out for the estimate and never measured. We agreed on a contract for $1925. Insurance claim via a bank draw requires contractor to sign check and wait for it to clear PRIOR to payment. He agreed to these terms. But then complained about the payment terms during the job. He agreed to do the work prior to check clearing. On several occasions he made disparaging remarks about me being on site to ensure things went smooth. John fails to understand that the home owner has every right to supervise work performed on owner'sproperty. John has a foul mouth and was very unprofessional from the start. He said he would be at the site at 10 and show up at 11. Constantly changes his mind and is just unorganized. Worst of all: He has choosen to send very rude and annoying text messages complaining about the home owner's attitude. I have never had a contractor send a text message asking how I sleep at night and call me an and quot;a**and quot; for complaining. That just boggles my mind how he talks to customers. It really does not matter how bossy or how much the owner wants to ask questions. He gets upset and cant seem to understand it's business not personal. His own brother threatened to walk off the job because of his attitude. Workmanship was fair for the price but did not make up for the constant arguing with this man. Bottom line I WOULD NOT RECOMEND HIRING SEAGULL ENTERPRISES OR JOHN IN THE FUTURE.

 + -1 moreJohn was very good at keeping us informed and showed up when promised. He was very helpful with deciding what was attractive and practical plan for our sunroom. They installed the underlayment and tile, being careful about any mess and or damage to walls, then reinstalled the wood trim and thoroughly cleaned up the work areas. The work was completed when promise.
Description of Work: Installed porcelain tile in a sunroom of our home.

 + -1 moreLeft a huge mound of dirt we had to move ourselves, and when all was settled, and we were able to see the work in the spring, did not look sloped away from house at all! Still having flooding problems.

 + 2 moreI'm very happy with the way these repairs turned out. John can be a airy at times, and he's not the best at the formal office side of his business such as writing up the job quote yet. But I have found John Selinger to be very conscientious of his work. He can be quite creative as well. He asks questions of the projects to get a good feel of what your expectations are. Offers good suggestions of how he can possible make better. I can tell as I've worked with John on this and another project. John puts a great deal pride into his work. He knows he's signing his signature to it and he has a personal stake in the project. He's asks questions because he wants to do it right, so he can best meet your expectations. John knows the value of a happy returning customer. Seagull Enterprize has done 2 projects for me to date. I'm going to write another review for the other project for him. I fully intend to use his services again in the near future for a small project and then again in the spring for possible a couple of other paving projects if I can find the cash. I've also found his pricing pretty comparable to his peers.
Description of Work: John Selinger, Seagull Enterprize. Assisted me with the repair of 2 security points/tie downs on a concrete pad that were done by another (Landmark Lawn/Concrete, Chad Combs) concrete contractor completely incorrect. The pads is an F. John talked with me at great length to get an understanding of what I was looking for, Basically he remove 2 U shaped pieces of rebar that were inverted into the concrete at pour time . They were suppose to have been installed at grade level with indented cups under them so I could pass a chain through them to secure a trailer on the pad so it can't easily roll away. At grade level so they wouldn't be trip hazards. Originally I wanted to use lifting eyes embedded in the concrete. But Chad couldn't quite grasp that concept so I agreed to the U shaped rebar and then Landmark did the Pad pour completely wrong leaving me with 2 trip hazards on the pad. John cut out 2 rectangular 8" x 14" areas to remove the rebar and create a patch area in the concrete. He then filled it back in with a colored concrete. (Johns suggestion) He inserted the lifting eyes with 2 3" washers on the threaded shafts on each of them. He filled the void between the washers with concrete on each of the patches. Smoothed them over, and created a channel on each side of the eyes to pass a chain through. They are at sub grade level and can be easily walked over with very little potential for tripping as you walk across them at night. Nor is there much of a depression that part of your foot might sink into or catch on the eye at all. John was also very conscientious of his cleanup. Cleaning of all the over spray that got on the siding of both my house and my neighbors home. He hasn't left me a mess yet that I have had to deal with.

Jonathan even did a minor repair on a very rainy, stormy day to hold us until the entire roofing could be done, saving our home from what turned out to be s torrential rainstorm with our leaking roof. He and his employee did the work without complaint, including shopping for the repair shingles and installing them after examining the attic to see that there was a hole in the roof. Then while on the roof, in the rain, they discovered a second hole and repaired it too with no additional cost to us added. This is the kind of company all companies should be: honest, hard-working, competent, and friendly. Thanks Jonathan.
Description of Work: Patched roof and then did entire roof two months later. Estimate held, and phone calls confirmed everything, since we were in another state ordering this job to be done for our home in IL.
