I couldn't be happier. John was a pleasure to work with. He showed up on time and left on time every day (didn't stay late into the evening). He and his helpers installed over 100 sheets of drywall in our complicated basement (lots of 45 degree angles and soffits in every room). Where John really shines is the finishing, which of course is the most important part. The quality of the finish is very high. Corners are crisp and uniform and seams are flat. The area was cleaned up and organized every day before they left. He even parked his truck on the street instead of our driveway because he noticed his truck had developed a small oil leak. All in all one of the best contractor's I've ever hired. Don't look any further; hire John to do your drywall job!
Description of Work: Installed and finished drywall in 5 rooms and a hallway in the basement.

John was very quick to respond to the initial request for an estimate. His price was fair and he was able to work it into his schedule. His work is of high quality; he definitely has high standards. John made sure everything was covered and he left the place immaculate afterwards. He works fast but he definitely took his time and did an excellent job. We will definitely hire john in the future and will recommend him to others.

Mid-April 2013 our area was effected by wide-spread flash flooding damage and we suffered water 'seepage' in our lower split-level family/dining room with stone fireplace, office/laundry, mechanical closet and lower landing in our English basement...the most lived-in area of our home. Our house is 47 years old and NEVER had flooded before that April 18th...even our sump pump couldn't keep up. The Disaster Team left after removing paneling, all the woodwork around windows & doors and carpeting...leaving us in shock and exhausted. John Stanley was called as he has done small home improvement projects for us before and always to our satisfaction. John came over that very afternoon to survey the results of the water damage and determine what needed to be done to reclaim the area. We were bewildered when John arrived with his easy soft positive manner. He brought his experience, skills and calm into our chaos! My husband had a sense what the reclamation should/could cost in terms of labor & materials. Insurance covered the removal and drying out...the repairs to furnace, well pump and replacement of the hot water tank...but all the other replacement was on us. John made a careful survey of what needed to be done and within the hour faxed us his estimate of time and materials. We were more than pleased as it was more than reasonable! Especially after the insurance adjustor had warned us to beware of fraud and over-charges! However, John's estimate was below what my husband had 'estimated'...and we knew John's skills were top drawer. And, wonderfully, John was prepared to start that very next morning! He and his crew came in, leaving throw-tarps on the floor from garage through the kitchen to the lower-level staircase. He never leaves at the end of the day without cleaning up the the work area and is very careful about draping and protecting surrounding areas. He firstly thoroughly cleaned the space, pulled remaining nails and readied the area for rebuilding. Materials were delivered...drywall and insulation and the work began. John suggested insulation board for the lower half of the concrete walls and fiberglas for above...economical and not thought of when this house was built 47 years ago. He installed vapor barrier, raised all the electrical and telephone outlets further from the floor and hung 'green' water resistant drywall. He took the lead on thinking out the details! John has considerable skills...electrical, plumbing, gorgeous wood-working but his first skill is amazing drywall! Our painter was called after the project was ready to be finished and commented on the fine finish these new walls presented...not one flaw! John installed beautiful window and door woodwork along with a perfectly proportioned crown molding which has added much interest to the space. He installed a new oak fireplace mantel because the original was damaged when the surrounding walls were removed. The 'finishing' was amazing! John removed the ruined washer/dryer and removed them to the recyclers and installed their replacements along with a new utility sink. And, he did all this while sharing his quiet good humor and calmness with his assurances that everything would be 'better than before'. He calmed our fears and DELIVERED on all that while charging a FAIR fee. Beautiful, affordable work and cheerful company! He has no problem traveling for work...serves Kendall and Kane Counties regularly. We highly recommend him for his skills, fairness and easy smile...a pleasant person to work with!
