+ -1 moreThe real kicker is this: each year the nesting material we removed was miniscule compared to the amount left behind by the birds which brought in more and more pieces through the holes they had punched into the aluminum foil vent ?pipes? in the ceiling. They had free rein to fly all over the entire attic. Advanced Wildlife Control not only removed the birds, but the also removed a enough nesting material from one area to fill a 5 gallon bucket! AND from the other more active nest, they filled a black yard garbage bag almost to the top!!! With all that grass, paper, leaves and twigs, we could have burned our house down if we had used the ceiling heater after all! We had originally contacted Advanced Wildlife Control via email on a weekend, and were shocked when they called us early the next morning on a national holiday! The gentleman who came out the next day to complete the job was efficient, courteous, and professional. He checked with us every step of the way to be sure he respected our wishes as to the "future" of the birds, the cleanliness of the nest sites, the installation of the flaps on all outside openings, and the resulting condition of our property. About 2-3 days afterward we heard scratching sounds from above, called them again and asked if they could come back and check the attic. They came out the same day and found that 2 birds had hidden inside inaccessible portions of our long attic and had no way to leave. Those birds were also removed and released - at no extra charge!
Description of Work: We have 4 openings in our exterior walls that lead from bathroom vent/heater/light ceiling fixtures to the outside as a means for moist and/or heated air to escape. When we built our home in 1996, all 4 openings were covered with the standard top-hinged, round flap that flutters open when air is forced through from the inside. About 5 years ago we noticed that a bird or 2 would occasionally hover in front of the flaps, knock them open wide enough, and long enough, with a flick of a head, to fly inside, nesting material firmly gripped in a beak! Then, once in a while, we would hear faint peeping noises coming from the ceilings of the 3 bathrooms that had the attic space overhead. The areas in question both inside and outside the house are extremely difficult to access. We had tried everything we could to reach inside the flaps to pull out the nests and then plug up the holes with screening. The problem was that these vent holes are extremely high up on the outside walls, above inclined yards, too skinny for us to reach very far inside, and didn’t hold the new preventative screening in place when the birds pulled at it. As a result of renewed bird activity each spring, we didn’t use the heaters since we were afraid it might start a fire in the nesting material. After our efforts, and those of hired handypersons had all failed, we finally joined Angie's List and found Advanced Wildlife Control. They had no qualms about the highly placed vent openings or the squeeze through the attic needed to reach the nests. Since it was spring, when they removed the nests, they had to also remove 2 families of baby birds, which, at our request, were released live into a park next door. Then they installed permanent, bird-proof vents over the outside openings.

+ -1 moreI had a raccoon in my attic. The raccoon had removed the shingles and gnawed through the wood on the roof. The people from Advanced Wildlife Control found the hole in the roof. They put out a trap on the roof and another one in my backyard, where they had found the footprints of the raccoon going up to the drain pipe. The next day a small raccoon was trapped, but they kept it going for one or two weeks to make sure there weren?t any more raccoons. When there were no more raccoons to be found for a few weeks, they plugged up the hole.
Description of Work: I used Advanced Wildlife Control to trap a raccoon, a month and a half ago.

+ -1 morevery well. I did have a bat sighting in the house about a week later, and they sent a tech to the house on a Friday evening to try and find the bat. We were unable to find the bat, but he assisted a very frantic homeowner in allaying my fears.
Description of Work: I had a bat colony in my attic. The technican who came was very thorough in his inspection, description of how the problem would be handled, and pros and cons of treatment with my type of roof (spanish tile).

They do not kill the animals. The young man that took care of it for us was excellent. I would definitely hire this company in the future.

+ 0 moreThey come every 2-3 months and spray both inside and out and check bait stations outside and inside for rodent activity. Although I do indeed still get bugs and ants, I haven't yet seen a mouse and the pest problem is greatly improved over when we moved in a year ago. I have found the folks at Advanced Wildlife Control to be professional, courteous, prompt and all in all good to work with.
Description of Work: I found Advanced Wildlife Control when I had a raccoon problem in my garage -- which they handled flawlessly. I have continued to use them for regular exterminating services (My 150 year old farm house out in the woods would be overrun with spiders without them).

+ -1 moreThis was one of the best contractor experiences I have ever had. PJ is a fantastic resource and consummate professional. I had squirrels in my attic, and the problem was taken care of within hours of my calling for service. They set traps on my 3-story roof, explained in great detail the nature of squirrels, and came back and checked the traps regularly. They were always incredibly courteous and invested in solving the problem. When I could not get a roofing contractor to come and seal up the hole, Advanced did it and did a fantastic job. They were looking out for me through the whole experience. Really fantastic company. Last night my dog had a tangle with an opossum-- lucky for me, I knew exactly who to call to collect the animal, and then to explain to me why the animal was actually missing the next morning! They know it all.

+ 0 moreWe thought we had squirrels in the attic. Looks like it's mice instead. Apparently LOUD mice. Had we known it was mice and not squirrels, we might have gone the D-Con route. However, that's why we hire professionals. The young guys that came were very knowledgeable and courteous. Even though they were out in the snow inspecting the exterior of the house, they removed their shoes when coming inside to go up to the attic.
Description of Work: The work performed was a thorough inspection of possible squirrel entrances and the laying out of poison for the mice that are probably the culprits. We agreed to a follow-up visit for a few additional dollars when the snow is gone.

+ -1 moreThe price may seem high for the work done, but I feel that the correct diagnosis of the problem was key and I am willing to pay for expertise. They also came out on the same day I called, even though it was Saturday.
Description of Work: My son was unable to sleep at night because of the sound of chewing in the ceiling above his bed. I thought that we had a squirrel in the attic and I set a live trap to no effect. I called Advanced Wildlife Control and they correctly diagnosed the problem as mice, not squirrels. Although they recommended poison, we decided to use traps instead. The four traps set that evening resulted in four dead mice in the morning. Over the next couple of days, I set several more traps and caught 2 more mice. Problem solved. No more chewing sounds. My son is back to sleeping in his bed.

+ -1 moreHe showed up on time. He was very polite, explained what he was going to do, removed his shoes before going upstairs and got the bat. He was very knowledgeable. He explained how bats enter homes, what my options were and what he would do if this were his home. He went up on my roof to try and find the entry point, examined my basement and attic for entry points. He gave me a written estimate of completely bat proofing my home ($625.00), but said that if it were his home he wouldn't do it. He couldn't find any bat droppings said most likely it was an isolated incident. I was quoted a price of $119 for the service call with an additional $40 per bat caught and removed. This was the price charged at the end of the visit. I will definitely use this company again if necessary. ( Hopefully not!)

+ -1 moreWe called Paul on a Saturday after finding squirrels in our attic. I left a message, and he called me back within 10 minutes. He came over on Sunday as planned and within 5 minutes, he had located the entry area and a nest (complete with 3 baby squirrels). He secured a live trap on our roof and by 8 p.m. that night, had trapped the mom squirrel. His son came over on Monday to get the squirrel and close the holes. Paul gave us tips on how to remove the smell and informed us that he sent the baby squirrels to a rehabilitation facility and let the mom go 30 miles outside of the city.

PJ showed up on time, listened to my concerns and then proceed to make his own inspection. Work was started on the day of the initial service call. I have also set up quarterly service calls.
Description of Work: Company was called to check out what appeared to be small animal activity around my house. The inspection confirmed that I had chipmunks and mice around the perimeter of the house. I was given several options for treatment, each described in detail. A treatment was agreed upon and started the same day.

+ -1 moreExcellent! He was very nice to speak with on the phone, and very nice in person. He was knowledgeable and helpful. The fee was fair: the service call was $119.00 (no charge to remove squirrels as Mother Nature intervened!) and the wasp spraying was $65.00. I think that I got a lot for that amount of money. I will not hesitate to use them in the future.
Description of Work: I had a squirrel nesting under my window A/C unit. They planned to live-trap the mother, remove the babies, and relocate the family on Monday. But on Sunday the mother became extremely agitated and loud. Paul agreed to come out that day. Upon his arrival, the mother was removing the first baby herself! I had to pay for a service call anyway, but the quick response was appreciated. Then the next day P.J. sprayed and removed a yellow jacket nest, did preventive spraying, found another bee colony, checked former squirrel ''home'' and removed empty nesting material, and identified a couple of entry places for mice in my attic. And he didn't even know that had been an ongoing problem! Another pest control company, roofers, gutter people, painters, and tuck-pointers all missed these spots!

I did feel the trip charge of $119 was high since this is a Mequon based company & distance to my home is not a huge factor. The remaining $55 for skunk removal was fair.
