Owners will help with material selection, but then all work is done by subcontractors. Their designer was very helpful in picking out materials, colors, and options. All installation was done very poorly and with no attention to detail or care for quality work. After computer measuring, counter top was cut wrong and then tried to hide issue. Tile work is very sloppy and poor quality. Sub contractors did not have any care for quality of workmanship. Response time by owners was also very slow. Very drawn out project and questionable results.
Description of Work: Partial kitchen remodel. Granite counter top, sink, and tile back splash.

I was so pleased with the results and they did such a good job. They were extremely professional and the designer was excellent. She even took me to a couple of projects they had done to show me what I might, or might not want done. They did the work from start to finish, faster than we anticipated. There were several teams that had to come in; all of their personal was excellent. They were sequential; when one person had to stop, the other one came in and did what had to be done. There were no delays and they kept the project moving. They helped me pick out the granite and the designer Kate was very patient and very helpful. Design is not my strong suit so she made recommendations that I was very pleased with. The cabinetry is just what I wanted. She helped with coordinated accessories. She coordinated the surrounding rooms like the family room and living room with some touches so the remodel job looked like it belonged; that helped. The construction crews were just very enjoyable to work with. They were proud of what they were doing; they were caring about the end product. I would highly recommend them and I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: They completely remodeled the kitchen; we completely gutted everything.

I would not recommend them. This is our fourth time working with them and every time we have worked with them their service has been worse. The first time we worked with them, it was good. The second time we worked with them, it was good. The third time hen we did our bathroom remodel in 2010, it was not good. The quality was not great. With our last experience, we called and asked for some design help and it was an absolute horrible experience. Silly me for getting stuck with the same person again. When they did that bathroom, that was them contracting it and the quality was a C. I will not use them again.
Description of Work: They put in cabinets, a pantry and a powder room.

This designer sold us kitchen cabinets; they required 50% down at time of order and 50% balance due when cabinets arrived. We paid over $22,000 just for the kitchen cabinets (does not include install costs); the last check we wrote to them in September 2008 was for the balance due so they would deliver and install the cabinets. Unfortunately they now have all of our money and it is 16 weeks and counting that we are waiting for them to complete the project. 50% of the cabinets came in incorrectly (wrong color, wrong material, and some have never arrived) Our initial order for the cabinets was July 2008, over 7 months ago. A typical install would take approx. 6 weeks to complete the kitchen. We're 10 weeks beyond that and still no end in sight. Once they had our money we dropped off of their radar. Their customer service and follow-up has been terrible. Since we started working with them they lost their listing as an authorized dealer for Wood-Mode cabinets. The new dealer listed on Wood-Mode website is now KBAER design center. (We are using KBAER to install the cabinets and they have been absolutely delightful to work with.) The designer ordered a $500 custom door for one of our kitchen cabinets All appliances, sink, faucet and toe kick are stainless steel. The designer ordered this custom door in aluminum. We now have to reorder in the correct material and lead time is at least 5 weeks. In the master bath we moved one wall to make the bathroom bigger. One day I was looking at the plan and realized the designer had wrong measurements for the bathroom furniture she had on order for us so we had to take down the new wall and make the bath even larger. In the Guest Bath the designer was pushing us to purchase wall hung toilets which required an add'l $3,000 in plumbing changes to the house in order to accommodate a wall-hung toilet. Each toilet was about $1,000 and received very poor performance ratings. We abandoned her design and again relied on KBAER to come up with a better layout which provided us with a huge shower and was much less expensive. The designer quoted us $16,000 for granite countertops; we purchased from The Granite Co in Green Bay for $5,500. We decided to take over ordering add'l items like the tile, hardwood floors, kitchen sink, faucet, bathroom fixtures. The designer quoted us full retail--we found everything she recommended either at local retailers or online for at least 30% less than her price. When we first contacted this designer we asked for references and they never provided them (shame on us!) but showed us a few pictures instead. We should have known that when they didn't show up for our VERY FIRST meeting that there were problems ahead. We mistakenly put our trust in these people, who we initially thought were very nice. We have since discovered they are just very 'smooth' and they have lied to us on several occasions. Terrible experience. Ask for recent references!!!!
