I am in the real estate business so I see a lot of different home inspections. Greg does all my personal inspections because I think he is the most thorough of any of the inspectors out there. He has home knowledge that has width and depth. His report is very comprehensive and is easy to read. The report has detailed photos that that explain the issues so there is little to any confusion. I highly recommend 4 Square Home Inspections.

We hired 4-Square Home Inspections to inspect a home we were in the process of buying. It was obvious to me that the house needed some exterior tuck pointing of the brick, and I expected that the 4-Square inspector would identify that issue. In addition to what looked like an obvious need ot tuckpointing in areas of the house, there was an area along the foundation of the garage where the bricks were obviously coming loose. However, the inspection report from 4-Square only noted "minor tuck pointing masonry joints recommended". Because it seemed obvious to me that more than more significant repairs were needed, I had a tuck pointing company look at the house and give an estimate. They estimated that the East wall was 50% in need of tuckpointing, and the other walls also needed some tuckpointing. Their estimate was $5,330 to complete the repairs. I think the 4-Square home inspector should have identified this issue. There were other problems, as well. The trim along the outside of the front door had obviously not been installed correctly, and there were big gaps between some of the trim pieces where rain water would obviously enter. That was not mentioned in the report. I did not feel that the inspection was done to my expectations. The 4-Square inspector's response to my concerns was that he was only looking for defects that needed immediate repair. To quote his email response to me, when I emailed him about my dissatisfaction with the inspection, he said: "In general I did not see an overwhelming problem that if not immediately repaired would cause a significant devaluation of the property, which is in essence what the definition of a defect is." I felt that I was paying him to tell me about any specific issues of repair that the house needed, not just if the walls were falling down, and that he should have documented that extensive tuck pointing was needed on the house, and that there were problems with the trim along the front door. I had a similar inspection done on a different house two years prior, and, in contrast, the inspector listed every item that needed attention or repair. I do not feel that I got what I paid for, and I would not hire this inspector again.

My daughter from NY was buying a home in Sheboygan. She asked me to contact home inspectors. Found them on the internet and had three different people suggest 4-square. I contacted them on a Thursday, and the inspection was scheduled for the following Monday morning. The inspector made all the arrangements to gain entry to the home, and provided a very thorough written report. He pointed out items that needed to repaired/altered prior to the sale, and made many suggestions for maintenance. The inspection took approximately 3 hours.
