Kelsey did a good job installing the kitchen window, front porch storm door and the 2 DVD cabinets. The cabinets are almost a match to the original. One thing I did not like about the cabinets was the top of each cabinet was not completely enclosed as the original. The cabinets are tall and no one can see the top of them, but it looks like he ran out of materials and did not want to add more. (See pictures) This opening lets dust get into the cabinets. I did not want to make an issue of this as the cabinets are in a hallway and very heavy to carry into a second story dwelling. I have laid some material over the uncovered portion of the cabinets.. Kelsey also helped with several small projects. Installation of a storm door on a front porch, installation of an exterior door on the back porch, installation of some missing shakes on the back porch and installation of a kitchen window. I think there was a lack of communication as I thought he was coming back to install more shakes. The new bundle of shakes are in the garage still bundled and not stained. The stain he bought was correct in color but was a latex and not oil base as I requested. The stain is unused and Kelsey never came back to finish. I was also disappointed in the installation of the exterior door to the attic on the back porch. It was not finished off with a door frame on the inside. Some sort of foam insulation was put in to seal and nothing more. This entrance is to the attic and is all original plaster on the inside. To be fair to him I may have mis-understood him, I assumed when you put in a new door you also frame both sides of it, even if the other side is original plaster and some of the walls were pretty rough. Kelsey is friendly and enjoys converastion. He told me about the many projects in general contracting he does not like to do, but he is quite capable of doing. In so doing Kelsey admitted that it was probably not a good thing to say, as it may cost him some business. I was also told he forgets things and I would have to keep calling to remind of the project or what we discussed, etc. He said he didn't mean to put me off, but he was getting busy. Several friends have hired him for very big projects and said he did an EXCELLENT job. Because of the results of some of my smaller projects and not wanting to have to call him for reminders, I decided to contract other companies.
